The part about the couch multiplayer really triggered me. You made a great point about emulators allowing you to play modes or games with couch multiplayer but literally every single sports, most of racing titles, fighting games and a couple of others can be played locally with friends. Recently RE5 on Steam had a update that removed any remaining files regarding Games for Windows Live and allowed local multiplayer for the first time. This article feels like it's been written 10 years ago, maybe back then I would've agreed that the consoles had a couple of pros over the PC given how dogshit Games for Windows Live was and the DRM's breaking your copies but even then, that's still a stretch. P.S Thank you for listening to my TED talk, I def need to shrink my comments to not make it a wall of text.

Honestly Nintendo are the only console makers that can even claim the couch co op moniker at this point, the idea of playing local multi on an Xbox or PS5 is laughable

Agreed, In fact , some of my earlier set ups was literally a PC fixed with my Big Living room TV when it was functional combined with an Xbox 360 Elite. Most of these articles have no idea how to try different things and how they work. There are infinite possibilities with PC set ups and they can be done very well.

Personal computers have ALWAYS had the option to connect to a TV (well, at least as far back as the 1980's). I've owned a couple of Apple ][e computers and was able to connect them to a TV (they had a composite video output). Generally; in the late 1990s and beyond (before HDMI), you could get a video card that had either composite video or S-video output. It's clear that the article writer has no clue whatsoever about the history of computers.

Update: it's no longer rumored 😂 poor sap that made that video. Plus ghost of tsushima is supposed to be getting a pc port. The only one I agree with him on out of those games is gran turismo may never get a pc port. Maybe one day they'll eventually do it but GT been kinda their baby since the beginning.

A good example of performance vs optimization is emulators. Many emulators aren't particularly well optimized, but the PC hardware is so over kill for a SNES emulator it doesn't matter

Yeah. playing my childhood PS2 games on PC with much higher resolution, texture mods and Reshade that too with 60 FPS. Emulators are the biggest reason I fell in love with PC gaming.

How can these people put out the same “pc sucks” articles, get ratioed and proven wrong, only for another article almost exactly the same with the same bad points to come up a couple months later, they need to do more research

My PC is located near my 4k TV and connected to it. I have this setup for 9 years. I've been "Couch PC gaming" with Steam Big Picture Mode all this time, using various controllers. I've been enjoying GTA5 4k at 60 fps with 2x980Ti SLI in 2014, when "glorious" console couch gaming stuggled to deliver 1080p at 30. Right now i'm having 120hz tv and appropriate rig to play Redfall at much more then 30fps, if i choose to. And then i could play some mario games at 4k with a DualSense controller, running it from a Big Picture mode, just as other concoles do. This PC is also connected to a monitor via long 5meter DisplayPort, so it also funcions as a workstation. Windows automatically detectes what screen is on. You don't really need to buy the second pc or sacrtifise one for another. PC gaming has it's quirks, but if they are trying to trash is as "not for couch gaming" - they should choose something else.

"You can upgrade so pc sucks. You can't upgrade steam deck so it sucks." How does someone contradict themselves in such a short time? How do they write this and not be self aware?

The simple fact that a gaming PC is just a PC upgraded to be able to handle heavyer tasks makes PC more versatile, more usefull and more valuable than a console. Will you do your taxes, writings, research, emails, shoping etc... on a console ? You may be able to do some, but is it practical ? Consoles are nothing more than an entry level specialized computer.

lol ,my main gaming rig is a Asus Prime X299 Deluxe II can take any Intel HEDT (High End Desktop) CPU from gen 6-10 and atm has an Intel I7-7820x in it and with 3 Rtx 2060 supers each with a 65inch display hooked to them can emulate 3 separate gaming PCs, that me and two of my friends can play games off of and have our own dedicated gaming machines virtually but really is just one powerful desktop. it really is fun...downside most games will need a license per each virtual machine we are playing off of...

I have my pc connected to my TV without moving it from my desk.I have like 10m hdmi cable from my dad (even if I had to buy one It doesn't cost that much) and with that I can just take my controller, lay down on my bed and play some games. I also have wireless mini keyboard with the touchpad to operate my pc if steam isn't running in the background. And if I want to go back to playing on my desk I can just switch the hdmi from Tv one to hdmi from monitor.

I have a series x and ps5 but I never use them cause I am having too much fun on my pc with a 13900k and 4090 with a corsair xeneon flex 45 inch oled.

If I want to play my PC on the TV, I have a Steam Link. But more often than not, I just play on my Steam Deck. I could technically dock my Deck to the TV as well, but at that point I would rather just use the Link since my desktop gives better performance, even streaming.

In a way I would say number 7 is somewhat correct given the garbage pile of PC games that have come out with #stutterstruggle and just overblown requirements. But then again you get gems like Dead Island 2 that just did it damn near perfectly and it runs well on even mid range systems.

Sure that stuff can suck but usually 1 or 2 months later those issues are almost non existant. I played Elden ring 2 months after release and it ran with almost no issues (except the meteor bull thing that seems to cause a lot of major frame drops) And it's not like consoles never have performance issues. Usually the settings there are just so cranked back that it's not that noticeable.

I run my computers for about 8-10 years. I never upgrade. I build a great machine for it's time, then I build a completely new machine once it's lagging behind. I then move the old machine into another role (work, entertainment center, audio hub, etc.). My current gaming machine (playing Helldivers II) is an AMD FX 9370 (Socket AM3+), 32GB DDR3 (don't want to get up to check speed), and a GTX 1080Ti (the GOAT) GPU, and it games just fine. Waiting for end-of-year hardware rollouts for my next build. Console peasants are really dumb, but will NEVER admit it.

People dont realize. When us PC gamers get unoptimized ports its STILL better than the console port. When we say unoptimized we mean its probably giving 130 fps in one area and then its drops down to 85 in another area. WHICH IS STILL BETTER THAN CONSOLE. And when its unoptimized how i just described we can just lock the fps to 80 or 60 and have a better experience. and its HILARIOUS when people think you have to upgrade parts to play new games... you dont.. just like bro said you cant play GTA 6 on a ps4 so whats the argument?? ill be able to play GTA 6 on a RTX 2070 super easily. Even though i have a RTX 4070 ti. PC community upgrades parts because we FEEL like it , or because we want to play at a higher resolution. no matter what console is at a customized graphics settings which is NOT ALL ULTRA and is also upscaled and THEN capped to 30 fps LMAOOO

I had the price discussion with my Sony fan boy mate because I called the ps5 Pro a pointless console because it'll be such an incremental upgrade and also said consoles are underpowered and that's why I'm moving to PC, I explained that one you can get a pc for 500 and it be better than current consoles and 2 assuming you buy the ps5 and ps5 Pro for 500 each, for 1000 I can buy a pc that outperforms a console for the next 2 generations, of course he said 1000 is to expensive for a pc without acknowledging the irony of what he just said

Only reason why Playstation 3 ,4 and 5 beats my Pc is i that dont have a blueray drive .

i tried playing kingdom hearts on steam. i have a gaming pc that can run most modern games. but KH, a fucking PS2 game, kept crashing. so KH steam having an AMD crashing issue is inexcusable. now im gonna worry about that every time i get a pc game. console is just better most of the time cuz you NEVER have to worry about that sort of thing. ever.

How many of these points can be summed up as: "Console is better than PC because I have no idea what I am talking about" I have counted 10/10 so far 6. is a shining example: "Games will not work on every PC" You can run new games even older hardware (if you are willing to suffer) and with a bit tinkering you can run older games almost no problem. With consoles you have to have a console and brand for each generation. "Game doesn't support your OS" ditto for consoles. "Ram is faulty" broken hardware is somehow a unique problem? Good luck fixing your PS5 if something breaks.

Super impressed with it, wanna see how well it runs once the full thing is out but from a technical standpoint it looks incredible

old game still have it's player on pc, easier access, mods, high replayability, and somehow peasants stating it as a bad thing and there's only old games on pc. which made me chuckle. like really hard.

I am the living proof that PC is better and much cheaper, I live in a 3rd WC and I could never afford console gaming, and the funny thing is I don't need to unless I want a lesser experience, Steam has amazing sales and regional prices, and hardware wise I build the equivalent of a us$400 PC in 2015, in 2017 I sold the first 3 components (+mobo)and for less than us$100 I jumped to a mid tier updated PC, 2 years later some friends gifted me an xbox one which I tried and felt disgusted so I sold it asap, with that money plus some system builds I did for my boss (so zero money out of my pocket) I, in 2019, built my dream top tier 2017 PC (i7-7700+GTX1080+16GB DDR4+1TB SSD+4TB HDD) that's literally what I'm running now in 2023, so what's that, 700 - 900 dollars on hardware from 2014 to today, that's 9 years of gaming better than any console ever could, and I'm rocking dual monitors, can't do that on console, switching from controller in Rocket League to kbm in Star Citizen in a blink, can't do that on console, alt-tabbing to chat, share, stream, research, while gaming, can't do that on console, trying emulation, "testing stuff free before I buy", running games around 85fps e.g. RDR2, can't do that on console, and paying much less for games even on release date, I also have games I like that aren't or aren't the same on console like Valheim, 7 days to die, Undisputed, Star Citizen, WoW Classic, private servers, I run my own modded servers on the same PC I play for Valheim and Conan Exiles, so many beautiful and wonderful options for such a little little price and no upgrades in 4 years! Can't do that on console!

They mean the game you already purchased for your account and played a lot, cannot be sold or refunded.

I am 100% sure a 2013 top spec PC can run 2020 games in 4k with FSR and a mix of low/medium graphics at 30fps. In 2013, the GTX titan got released for 1000$ and an I7 4770k for 300$. 16 gigs of ram was the norm and still is. The TITAN roughly = 970 = 1060 = RX6500XT. The 6500xt is only 10% faster and 10% at 30fps is only 3fps. The dude writing this article is a clown. Just because PC gamers are expecting way more than 30fps and complain everytime a game have deeps under 60 do not mean that an old PC can't run as good (as bad) as a console.

This is why i hate microsoft and Sony they make vague the GPU inside consol with it's 15 TFLOP and who dfq is a TFLOP ... can i eat it ? they made the GPU concept vague on purpose so the pony could say stupid shit like the ps5 its like a 4090 "yes in your wettest dreams" then once you open it up and see what's in it and about a 2070 super... a 2070 super ok? I'm more and more convinced that Sony makes portings cut off for the pc just to sell their platform

Teraflop is a measurement of compute performance. Its not a very accurate way of measuring gaming performance but it gives some insight. Its more accurate when comparing identical architectures. Like for example my 4090 is 100 teraflops it doesn't mean it's 9 times faster than my PS5 in gaming.

Personally, I prefer consoles because of convenience and some of the exclusives. That is really all consoles have now, but i am ok with that as i dont have the money or am invested into gaming so much that i would go purchase parts and build a gameing pc that can do everything at max settings. That would be expensive but thats what i would want to do but again, i am not that jardcore of a gamer to justify investing into a pc if that makes sense.
