Fun fact! Edith up, the red nymph, had sprites that appeared in the same style as Rayman legends… but it was only found in Fiesta Run, one of Rayman’s many mobile runner games and wasn’t used anywhere in the game leading it to be scrapped

The french version went a bit further, but there's a play of word a bit complicated. On their website, the section of the nymphs was called "Attaque d'essaim devastateurs" (Devastating swarm attack"), followed by "(A ne pas confondre avec son homonyme)", wich means "(To not mistake with its homonym)". The idea is that "D'essaims" (of swarms) sounds like "des seins" (of breasts), therefore making the article : "Attaque des seins dévastateurs" (Devastating Breasts Attack).

@@MadsterV Yeah the US is weirdly fine with extreme violence and gore but they draw the line a clothed softcore T&A. Meanwhile Japan and China are the exact opposite, being uncompromisingly horny to the point of basically kiddie fiddling while being hyper sensitive about violence especially dismemberment.

Actually Captain Laserhawk meant to portray how Ubisoft mistreated his character over the years. Even the Rabbids were portrayed as monsters that destroyed his world.

I think the reason the Nymph levels were cut from Legends was because they act as tutorial levels for each ability. However, since Rayman and Co. have all abilities right out of the box in Legends, the tutorial levels weren't needed and thus omitted.

I've always thought that Ubisoft refusing to port Rayman Origins to the Nintendo Switch was one of the dumbest things I've ever witnessed them doing. Then I remembered that this was the same company that made the infamous "Quadruple A" game Skull and Bones. I also remembered when their CEO came out and told gamers that they should get use to not owning their games. Man, the hatred against this company is well warranted.

As someone who's liked Rayman for quite a while now, I can say, I honestly like how Rayman is depicted in Captain Lazerhawk. Rayman was already kinda raunchy for a while, but, I think it does good at portraying a Rayman who's been displaced from his world controlled by dreams governed by the black and white morality of literal dreams vs literaly nightmares, into an almost overwhelming dystopia where things aren't so clear cut, a place where his sense of heroism and limited morality could be exploited to turn him into a tool for abuse.

The creative team on Gourmand Land: “so, guys what do y’all usually put inside your fridge?”

I am an european comic artist and studied a lot of french artists. In many european cultures, when it comes to suggestive themes within otherwise cartoony and/or juvenile works of art such as Rayman Origins, its very common to see those traits being casually included, which results very much jarring to other cultures (especially the US). When you consider the developers of Rayman Origins (and Legends) are from France, it makes a lot of sense. In short, you are welcome.

I honestly really love Origins a lot, it’s a fantastic game that introduced me to platformers. Also, to comment about the Laserhawk Rayman, the whole point of the show is these remixed versions of Ubisoft characters. They’re new insights to characters or interpretations of previously existing characters like with bullfrog. He doesn’t start out as this bumbling addict, there’s a snowball effect and he does have depth the clips online don’t give. Honestly I kinda don’t want to spoil as it has a really interesting (probably unintentional) allegory to Rayman’s relationship to his parent company. I know you seem to have a distaste for it but I honestly recommend it if you haven’t watched it already.

​@@ASkeleton Same thing with the Mario Rabbids DLC, it's obvious the devs love and respect him, if anything the roast only shows that those devs are as frustrated as the fans with how Ubisoft has been managing the franchise.

The secret final level is probably my favorite level in the game. I really like the difficult fast paced speedrunning levels, and having it be the ultimate test of your skills from the entire game is super fun.

Pretty sure you've already heard this multiple times, but you've pretty clearly not watched Captain Lazerhawk if that's your opinion of Rayman's depiction in it.

Hell nah us Mexicans are almost always happy to see representation in any silly crazy way from anyone, I’m a very big fan of Rayman Legend’s continuation of the theme with Fiesta De Los Muertos, super fun level and the theme for the boss is INCREDIBLE.

@@EngineerMonkey-zp3yj as part of a family that pretty much religiously watched Nacho Libre and attended every luchador fight at the flea markets (they weren’t big or official or anything, just for show) we’re all over anything related to luchadores, but of course things like that aren’t to everyone’s taste in the community, so who knows.

Great video. This has kind of revived my interest in Rayman now. 😂 Honestly, the thing that fascinates me most about Rayman as a franchise is how unique its fantasy world is. There's fairies, robot pirates, weird little pseudo-goblins, worlds based on art, music and food, it feels timeless yet it has some hodgepodge modern tech bits here and there, it's all so beautifully put together. Pity Ubisoft treats it like a punching bag nowadays.

Laserhawk Rayman was great tho, it depicts what bringing the actual rayman into a cyberpunk dystopia would be like

Rayman origins was supposed to be like a reboot or a retcon to the first game, they changed the origins idea but kept the name

they are the comparison standard I hold everything else to for over a decade now Rayman origins and Legends are legit two of the best platformers ever made and it's really weird coming from ubisoft

Isn't Rayman in Captain Laserhawk turning againt Ubisoft? Like, the villains are Ubisoft lol, and Rayman shoots them cause they're evil as shit and fucking over everyone

Okay but raymond was actually a cool adaptation. Both in the context of the show and playing on our original expectations of rayman

I really loved this love letter to Rayman origins. As a long time Rayman fan I was blown away by the beautifull levels and music. It was no wonder they remade the levels to be played in legends. It was a lot of fun and now I must play it once more. p.s. I find it hilarious that the "power to change size" was given by the T H I C C E S T Nymph

HELL YEAH! A NEW VIDEO FROM SKELLY! I personally never got to play Origins, but I did get to play Legends on my Xbox 360 and since it got a lot of Origins levels with its Back To Origins areas.

6:46 I never played the Shantae games but from what I’ve seen, the characters and style is nice and pretty cute. But also every girl makes you say “daym”. I don’t need to tell you to hear me out, because you already know.

I played this with my sister and our friends years ago when we where little. Best game ever, at least in my Memorie and I know my Memorie is right with this one! Also we then played Rayman Legends, also great! The secret levels! We called them "Whooo Levels" because of the sound when one is revealed. We played through the entire game in a matter of... Years. But it was the best experience ever! (probably nostalgia because we actually argued half of the time and got very frustrated and angry, but hey we also had tons of fun together!) This video brought back those wonderful memories so thanks! And it reminded me we still aren't completely finished with this game.... yet! The very last secret level with the skullhead guys with the red teeth - its still missing! After all those years I still have no idea what's behind that door he's protecting, so thanks for not giving a spoiler and encouraging players to find it out themselves! Now I only have to figure out if the PS3 is still running.... I LOVE this game!!!

I don't think it's that unusual on differents aspects. The first being that Rayman 3 was already getting a "conker bad fur day" treatment with a lot of not even innuendos comment from the black lums or even Murphy, now I'm a french speaker, so maybe the English dub went soft on taht, but man, playing that game again when I reached 18 and thought "man, they really didn't even try to hide that". The second reason I think is simple, it's Europe, and Europe is not as puritan as the States or the Saxons for that matter. There's a french cartoon when a woman takes a bath, and when she drops into the tub, you can see a bit of jiggle (tho not the boobs themselves it's more the part where the breast gets to the armpit, so it's a bit subtle), you had that many fairy tale in their classic versions (wich many were still told to us as children back then in the late 90's and early 2000's) were not hiding their subject. It's like the french director Christophe Gans used to say, "in a way, fairy tales were the mthod for adults to tell Children about two things : Darkness and sexuality, fundamental part of their future adult life". A quick example I have is in an Asterix cartoon where you can clearly see the "assets" of Mrs. Geriatrix. I mean, I don't wanna play the "Disney ruined everything", freaking far from it, all I'm saying is that we (or at least I, I was raised in a pretty open but conservative way) grew up on sturner stuff. So those nymphs never bothered me, heck, nymphs savedd Zeus in the myths, they have quite a history.

Great video, man! I can tell you're passionate about the game and put a lot of time into this. That always makes for the best kind of content. I've never played a Rayman game; I just didn't grow up with them. This video's mighty persuasive though, so I'll probably give it a shot!

I got this game on super sale not long after it released on PS3. It was a total blind buy. One of the best purchases I ever made. Super solid platformer that oozes charm. Keep up the great videos man. You bring such a personal feel talking about these games. I can hear your passion and it really shines through. Also, I appreciate that you talk about the music in these games.

I would love to see the Rayman legends next, because it's the game I grew up on and also has a lot of memorable moments (although probably not as much as Origins). Loved this vid

I thought Ramon was a brilliant way to use Rayman. He loses his sanity because of the abuse of his kind and hijacking of his image. Looking at the rest of Captain Laserhawk is important, because Rayman's not the only one in a shithole of a city with oppression in its core.

I like Rayman from Captain Laserhawk. He was probably the best character in that show.

Man this bring back some good and horrendous memories especially with rayman legends i was a hardcore player wanting to learn every single bit of info and earning every collectable there was to the game and believe me its a non-stop grind for this game i just subscribed to you cant wait to see you upload on rayman legends 😁
