  The marketing really was a problem for rayman in this era, I loved rayman when I was younger especially rayman 2, but this is literally the first time i've even heard of rayman origins

  Not only did the game take it to its roots in Rayman, it took it to its roots in Tonic Trouble, their first 3D game that was created as a testing ground for Rayman 2 mechanics. There's some really deep parallels in Rayman Origins and Tonic Trouble. Almost as if they extracted all the fantastical world stuff out of Rayman 2 and had to put it somewhere. To really experience what I'm talking about, you have to experience the Glacier Cocktail level from the beta version of Tonic Trouble. It's absolutely breathtaking. Don't even bother with the N64 version. Somewhere between the lines you will see there was potential for probably the greatest platformer. And I'm saying that having grown up with Rayman. I love Rayman 2 to death.

  Rayman origins is such and original game but i have to mention that another much older game did so many things similar to Origins, nothing directly was coppied but they are way to many similarities to not have been at least and accidental inspiration for the dev team.I am talking about jazz jackrabbit 2
