    Gday Mate, There are 3 settings pre programmed into the throttle controller, Sport +, Sport and Off Road/ECo. A single button cycles between the pre programmed settings, I found the Sport + mode works best for me, makes driving easier. Basically I have just been using the 1 setting for ON and OFF road, no need to continually adjust the controller, set and forget. The biggest difference I've noticed is that i never use Sport mode in the Raptors terrain modes anymore keeping the revs way down and fuel economy low.

    G’day Damo Just watched this as I picked up my Raptor last week. Very thorough and great walk through, well done. With the twin turbo they spin up the Revs pretty quickly in 1st and 2nd. Does the chip take advantage of the extra torque it provides and change the mapping to get it to change gear earlier? Cheers Shane

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    4 жыл бұрын

    G’day Shane, congratulations on the new truck mate 😎 the chip itself won’t remap the gearbox, however the gearbox has an adaptive feature and will adjust its shifting accordingly. Keep in mind that 1st and 2nd gear in the Raptors 10 speed box are actually a lower ratio than 1st gear in a normal 6 speed box. From memory I think the Raptors 3rd is the closest gear to a standard 1st gear. What I’ve found is after installing the chip I no longer use sports mode which by design keeps the engine in a higher rev range. I simply take advantage of the extra Kw and torque provided by the chip with the relaxed driving feel of normal mode. 👍🏻

    Round The Fire Thanks Damo, I had the last 3.2 remapped and it was a different truck! 180kw and 620nm. A much torquier lazy motor than the 2.0 and in my opinion better suited to my driving style than the Raptor, I think 8 gears wold have been plenty but Ford don’t have that box. I have just purchased the Ngauge with the 10 speed remap they do which speeds up the shifts, increases the torque between changes and forces the box to use all gears instead of revving it’s nut off to shift from 1st to 3rd to 5th. I will let you all know how it goes it’s from BPT Motorsport in WA. Cheers and thanks for you input in all your vids mate👍

    Hi Damo, thks for the great vids. I also tow a camper that weighs about 1500 kgs from time to time. Fully loaded and with the wife and two teenagers the weight starts getting up there. I was wondering if you ever thought about getting a wildtrack with the 3.2 engine and bigger towing capacity and dp chipping it to give more of a buffer to the engine and max weight limits (apart from the raptor just being more fun generally :)) ....cheers

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    G’day mate, I actually was intending to get an XLT 3.2L originally as I feel like that was the best bang for your buck in terms of payload and not being too concerned about keeping an eye on the kids as they get in and out making the shiny interior a mess. The hardest decision I had to make about choosing the 2.0L over the 3.2L was there wasn’t at the time, much real world information about the 2.0. After owning the 2.0L now for 18 months I think the real benefits of it over the 3.2L is the 10 speed gearbox, the extra 4 gears allows the engine run at a fairly low stress range in terms of RPM and that produces good results (for me at least) as far as fuel economy goes. A huge benefit of the Raptor vs Wildtrack is the ride quality on and off road given the all round coil suspension. They are both very good looking trucks, if you are planning on kitting your truck out more traditional looking with bar work and canopy the a leaf sprung is probably the way I would go. If you can think light weight set up then coils are well worth it. Hope that helps 👍🏻

Performance wise, I’ve found the chip comes with a fairly mild tune installed from factory (you have the ability to manually bump it up if you wish). Out of the box the chip is certainly wild enough that you can notice the difference straight away but it’s not trying to ring the neck out of the engine which I would have to say is the feature I love the most.

    I wonder what happens when your engine shits itself how much that warranty covers in real life. So this simply raises fuel pressure? How did you come to the conclusion that a proper custom ECU remap on a Dyno wasnt the go for simular money? Cant be factory warranty as ford can detect use of DP Chip.

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    5 жыл бұрын

    Gday mate, the main reason I went with the DP chip over an ECU tune is because 6 months ago when I installed this unit there wasn’t a tuner in the land that could crack the ECU codes on a Raptor, Also I liked the ability to simply disconnect the DP chip if there was any problem with it and send the unit away for repair or replacement rather than have to go back to the same tuner to work out the bugs 👍🏻

    Vũ Nguyễn it's big risk having one of these. But the wiser would say this is reversible in the event of a warranty claim. However people don't realize these are traceable via dealer level scan computers. Just buy the car that you're happy with it's power from the factory. Not worth spending hundreds and then making a mess of the engine because you're chasing power.

    All it does is increase the common rail pressure from around 29,000psi to 34-35,000psi. It doesn't change boost, it doesn't change anything else. A good ECU tune is a far better option for any CRD car or 4X4. I'm actually disappoint that Berrima Diesel are selling these things; those blokes know better than that.

    Thanks mate. The best part about installing a DP Chip vs anything else is that DP Chip warrant your engine and drive line for the remainder of your new car warranty...in my case I’ve had the chip on for 12 months so I’ve still got another 4 years worth of cover 🍺🤙🏼

    @@stevefractalhilly6245 actually there are some who gives a shit. I also have a 2016 wildtrack and i find the new raptor just a sticker with some tweaks. The raptor should be also about engine performance, not just the suspension tuning. Ranger raptor should be the ideal vehicle for us the performance truck enthusiasts, but with the 2l engine......being left in dust by far by the amarok and the new mercedes X v6......no thank you. I'd rather import the real raptor or the US petrol powered ranger.

    @@octavianc Just some tweaks? Then yo obviously have no idea about the build of the Raptor. I ordered a raptor, but knowing the Amarok and Merc are quicker did not phase me one little bit nor do I give 2 shits. I bought my Raptor for my own personal reasons. Besides, all these knockers talk about the lack of horsepower by the Raptor, 99% of you cant drive for shit anyhow so why do you need the big horses? I thought I might add that I have been involved in motorsport for 27 years before just recently retiring from the sport. From what I see on the roads today, 50% of drivers should not have a car with more than 50kw, 40% should never own a driving licence and the rest, 10% are ok.

    It's not a good idea to install this "jumper"chip, what does it do is intercept the single from your sensors And give a false reading so the ECU will not pull timing etc, usually they intercept the coolent temp and IAT.
