    Just a point, you can’t use 4h on sealed surfaces

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    Жыл бұрын

    You can if it’s raining or the sealed surface is slippery. It’s not intended for long distance driving but if you need to quickly jump into fast moving traffic on a tight turn you can select 4H, accelerate hard into the lane then once you a at a comfortable speed below 100kph you can select back to 2H on the fly 👍🏻

    That is a relative thing, how much rain. Manual clearly states NO and speaking to Ford they say NO. Bit unsure about your thinking on your driving practice but it’s your Ute

As it does come with the Wildtrak's. I have never ever seen it mentioned in any video or comment. I found out just before the delivery of mine by reading the brochure. Very good and very interesting Review! I drive my Raptor since August and i find it very good to hear that i most likely will not have to face any major problems with this truck! The only issue i had so far was that the high beam on the left front side just gave up working. I had to let them be repaired and though it was on warranty it still was a bit annoying because this also reduced my belief in the reliability of the truck. But lets see what the future brings... Anyway, a good to watch Video! All the best!

    Hey Damo. Love the videos, keep them coming! I’ve been watching them all recently as I’m picking up my new raptor in conqueror grey tomorrow - looking forward to it! Like you my biggest concern when looking at these was the engine power. It’s a 4x4 so not meant to be fast, but a few extra kw would help. Did you have any hesitancy with the DP chip? I know they cover your factory warranty but what are your thoughts on long term impact to reliability (ie is the engine built to take those figures). I’m naturally pretty risk adverse with playing around with the engine on a new car, but would love to get the power you’re getting! Appreciate the advice mate

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    4 жыл бұрын

    G’day mate. Congratulations on the new truck, you got the best colour too 😎 I was pretty comfortable with adding the chip. I put it on when the engine was only 300ks old and never had a problem so far. The chip isn’t tuned to squeeze every last drop of power from the engine so as not to stress every component to its operating limits which is good and exactly why I decided on it. Im certainly not trying to build a race truck but having that bit of extra power for overtaking while towing and off road scenarios has been a big plus. 👍🏻

I see that the plug and play chip is the way to go when it still is under warrenty. But down the road. I would as I can from inspection standpoint. And this gaining mpg through the device is amazing there is a guy on KZread that says gaining mpg is bullshit cant be done impossible or everyone would be doing it id love to swipe that grin off there faces haha I want the truck as well when I get it to have a higher stance than stock so been told put a 2 inch lifting coils on but not sure cant afford to do some of the options I've been told but I want to do it. Interesting perspective. What bar and winch did you add, and as you mention people criticize wet weather on-road handling. You saying if it's slippery you can drive in 4h mode, but you can't leave it in 4H on the bitumen, correct.

    G’day David, great comment. I had installed and option 4x4 V1 bar on this Raptor. On my later Raptor I have chosen a hidden winch mount as a lighter weight version. Also exactly right, it’s perfectly fine to engage 4WD on the bitumen if the conditions are slippery or wet, once you get going you can simply re engage 2WD and continue. Using 4WD on dry bitumen for long periods is not advised 👍🏻

    G’day Mate, I have this exact conversation with my mates 😂 we keep coming back to the same conclusion, When we have wagons we want utes and when we have utes we want wagons. I think the 150 is a great 4wd and I’ve taken one just about everywhere. My main reasons for going back to a Ute is the Prado was fairly underpowered and drank the juice with a trailer on and I also like to take my dog with me and he isn’t the cute indoor type of horse who stays clean so the tub is his new home. I do like having the whole roof space for load carrying capacity with a wagon but 👍🏻🍺

    Round The Fire I get this because I have a Prado 150 now and tow a 1t camper trailer and it sounds like we use them quite similarly. The biggest disappointment when I test drove the Raptor was the engine doesn’t feel like it has and extra 20% power and torque over my old Prado. I wish they had a decent V6 turbo diesel in it and I’m sure they would run out the door even faster. Come to that, so would the Prado.

  • @RoundTheFire

    @@peterj5751 Exactly mate, when I first test drove the Raptor I felt the same. I even went back to the dealer and asked if I could bring my trailer in and hook it up for the test drive...unfortunately they said no, that's the reason that I went straight for the plug n play power chip. Now with a smaller engine of the Raptor I can load up more in the trailer and still keep a constant 110Kph uphill and even have the confidence to overtake without thinking I need to get a run at it. I think they are available for the Prado also. I haven't tried one on the Prado but Im wondering if that was all I really needed to do to get me to keep the Prado?
