Field Testing the New 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We had a rare opportunity to evaluate the new Ranger Raptor in South Africa, including a high-speed closed course and deep water crossings. The vehicle was also outfitted with Front Runner accessories, which showcases the breadth of capability in this unique platform. With a 1,700 pound payload, this Ranger is quite suitable for overland travel.

Great feedback!
Great vid man!
Without a doubt the best explanation of both the car and its capabilities on the net. Fantastic video and have subscribed. I have always believed this vehicle would be a fantastic overland vehicle after doing the Canning Stock Route in Australia and then seeing the Raptors credentials. I did the CSR in a landcruiser and failed to finish due to some issues with another vehicle. My plan is to take my time and do it again in the Raptor. 🤘Chriso🤘

Thanks for the comment. Agree that this truck would be wonderful on the Canning Stock (I drove that route in 2013)

Ok try ur best next time I Really like that car
Interesting video, I own a now 3 year old 3.2 wildtrak and have been really tempted with the raptor, going to wait a bit just to see how reliability for both engine and transmission is, good work thanks

Why would you make the switch to the raptor? Just curious since i want to buy a raptor but the price is high...wildtrack seems like a solid vehicle to be honest
If I can satisfy myself that the payload on this thing can be upgraded to bring it inline with leaf a leaf sprung work ute without ruining it's performance I'll look at it for my next car. Very well articulated video well done

I own a Ranger Raptor and trying to get more into harder offroad. Did you just say you got water into the cabin?!

A small amount, as we were submerged for some time as we navigated through the obstacle.
It’s only offered in a diesel motor here in Australia. If it was offered in a petrol, 💯 would buy one. I don’t do enough kms for a diesel

Yeah you would not even dare to drive it then if it was petrol. That 10 speed transmission would suck fuel

I own one and I get 26 mpg
In Europe the payload for the raptor is 620kgr=1364lbs.Αlso the tire size is smaller,285/70R17=32.8''.Different countries-continents different specs.

If this came to the USA, Toyota and GM would lose hella sales.

ZR2 or Ranger Rapter?
@ExpeditionPortal

That is quite the question. They are very similar, with the Bison having a slight performance advantage (overall), and the Ranger getting better economy and having higher payload.

Two "trucks" the world never needed.
yet in Australia, its considered average payload in its class. But horses for courses.

Stop hoping because I have both engines and would swap the 3.2 out in a heart beat for the 2.0. I have the raptor and the 3.2 ranger

Same, driven both extensively and currently own the Raptor. Once you've driven the biturbo in all scenarios, you realise it is the superior engine.

Alan Macaulay I’ve owned a 3.0 v6 diesel Land Rover D4 and I also drive a ranger raptor 2.0 bi-turbo... it genuinely doesn’t need one! Yes its not the fastest to 60mph but how many 1/4 miles do you do a day? It’s acceleration and overall performance is similar to a D4 but it’s cheaper to run... off road the vehicle and engine performs very well... it’s done everything my D4 did! Only time will tell if the longevity of the engine is less- watch this space!

Going to get a 3L V6 turbo Diesel with the 2022 model, something like 185kw and 580nm, partly due to deal with VW for the Amarok
