    Mate you were quick on this one!! The video had literally been uploaded for 1min and boom you were on it!! It was hard to overlay the time with the speedo but later runs with a different time keeper I could achieve closer to 9.3sec...I'll have to sack my old man from official time keeping duties. Either way a fairly substantial increase in power for a simple plug n play device, when you watch the speedo the 0-60 is insanely quick.

I've also owned many Rangers but they discontinued them in 2011 in the U.S. and now they are just bringing them back this year. No Ranger Raptor for us yet but they will I believe in a few years bring one here or they would be stupid not too because they would sell everyone of them as long as they priced it right compared to the F150 Raptor. Keep up the good videos. I like to see regular people drive them and use them and not just auto journalists who take them on 100 mile trips and then give their opinions. 😁

I’m using the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum for the drone shots, still learning all the do’s and don’ts with using a drone for filming. I’ve mainly used the drone as an aid for hunting.

    Is it normal for it not to redline when you're chasing a good time? I mean i get that it's a diesel and naturally they max out about at 5000rpm or so. But from what I saw it bearly got to 4000rpm before changing gears. There definitely was more left in it. I drive a focus diesel and also chipped. I don't mean to compare the two but I can easily get closer to red line once I drop the hammer. All done in auto not manually shifting. Just curious as I think there is a better time to be made maybe if you choose to stretch them gears in manual mode or something. Unless ofcourse you were changing them manually early on purpose to protect the tranny.

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    5 жыл бұрын

    It generally never bumps the red unless as you said I run it in manual. Those changes were all auto and in sport mode, which on average holds the gears a lot longer. I’m going to say the 10 speed box has a bit of a hand in that and possibly the near 2.5 tons of weight may come into play as to the optimal torque/RPM range? I’m still learning the feel of it myself, the engine and gearbox behave unlike any of my previous 4x4s.

  • @sourwords1808

    @sourwords1808

    Round The Fire I think you might be on point about the optimal torque. I guess it reaches the highest torque before needing to red line therefore doesn't loose momentum. Also WOW, that thing has a 10 speed? My goodness. Do you find it does a good job selecting the right gear for your driving habbits? Or maybe gets a little static "confused" like I herd with the new Mustang 10 speed. Thanks.

    Honestly the first time I’ve noticed a lag in the box was filming the 0-100 footage. There is a slightly noticeable dry spot between 60-80 where I though “we should be pulling harder here” when attempting to go from 0-100. If I aim to hit 100 hard at any other starting speed even as low as 10 there is no issue, pull the entire way? PS The last time I got a speeding ticket was driving a buddy’s turbo diesel focus 👍🏻

    Gday Mate, Thank you. The plan behind these video clips is to document how I build this ute to suit my needs for my next trip to Cape York. I would say its not an absolute necessity to add the power chip to the Ranger Raptor as the 2lt engine with the 10 speed gearbox straight out of the box is surprisingly VERY good at delivering the goods, however after adding the chip I think the ute feels and performs more like "RAPTOR" aggressive. As far as off road capability goes straight out the box, one word "AWESOME" The Ranger Raptor is the smoothest, most comfortable and quiet 4x4 I've owned/used on the dirt and out bush, the ute is very technologically advanced with the 6 terrain modes built in to the computer (I'm still learning what they all do and how they change the car) but out of the box its almost as easy as tell the car what obstacles you want to conquer and it does the work for you. VERY happy so far.

    Ive always been a manual only type of fan, purely because no fuss select the gear you want and go + you can't push start an auto in the bush. However the tech in the new autos are good to go, limp mode means you can't entirely get stranded...just boringly slow home to rescue, Auto = much more control on challenging obstacles and a much more relaxed drive in city traffic. Either way I think the XLT is a good choice but I think you won't be disappointed with all the XLT features + the ride and comfort of the Raptor. Stay Tuned.

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    5 жыл бұрын

    Gday Mate, The throttle controller boosts your factory fly by wire throttle controllers signal to the engine and in turn eliminates the built in lag response from the time you push the pedal to the time the engine receives the signal. In short it allows you to have a more responsive pedal whilst applying smaller inputs.

  • @henriwolbrink

    @henriwolbrink

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thx. Though I think it is strange that a manufacturer would build in a delay in their throttle response. I can understand that they implement a certain distance in the movement of the pedal. It makes it easier to maintain a constant speed without using the cruise control. But they could change this during sport or baja modes. And it could be giving more control when driving off road. But building in a delay on response sounds strange to me. I will see if I can find more information about this. And if so, let you know. Regards from Spain. Where it will be released somewhere in the middle of 2019. Best regards.

  • @RoundTheFire

    @RoundTheFire

    5 жыл бұрын

    You are spot on the money there, that’s what I mean about the delay, it’s when you are holding the throttle steady minor movement of the pedal won’t register so you have a smooth driving experience. The throttle controller eliminates this and will pick up on every movement and can also amplify the input by around 30% if you choose that setting. You can also simply reduce the response with a punch of a button to a pre programmed setting to relax the throttle for bumpy or loose terrain to reduce wheel spin or add more control over big rocky terrain.

    It's not possible to fit more than 2 car seats in the back as there are only 2 factory fitted mounting points (there wouldn't be enough room to fit 3 across even if there were 3 mounts without turing the kids into sardines) my 3yo sons legs can reach the seat in front (not quite long enough to get a good kick in but I'm sure he is working on it) Overall I think the rear seating area could have benefited with more room but I think that's a fairly common theme amongst most 4 door Utes.

    @@RoundTheFire That's crazy, a brand new Ranger Raptor would cost AU$60,000 (USD39,000 or PHP2,000,000) here in the Philippines

    Gday Mate, thanks for the comment. Nice numbers out of your 3.2L 5cyl. Like I was saying in the video I'm not trying to make a drag car out of this ute. This 2L 4cyl engine in its standard Australasian spec produces 210Kw so i could certainly ramp it way harder however asking 185Kw out of it seems like a good balance of power and reliability and I also get to keep my 8.5L/100K whilst towing.

    Id get a throttle controller first, that will give perceived gain much cheaper than a tuning box that is very expensive and dosnt do anything.

    John mclaughlin where is the relationship between an engine performance chip and a fuel pump ? If you said injectors, it might have made more sense since it is related, but the fuel pump? Wth?

    John mclaughlin that still doesn't prove it was the chip that caused it. You're simply assuming it was. But where is the proof?
