r/Entitledparents BUY ME A NEW CAR OR I'M CALLING THE COPS!

Комедия

r/Entitledparents In today's episode, OP has an incredibly spoiled and entitled aunt who needs a new car. Does she buy the new car herself? Of course not! She demands that her brother help her get the car. When her brother refuses, she calls child protective services on him and accuses him of torturing his children. CPS then pulls OP out of school and interrogates him to see if his father actually tortures him. Imagine destroying someone's family because they don't buy you a new car!

@@silverflight01 It's actually not hard for controlling parents to rationalize invading their children's privacy. They don't see it as "This is a person who deserves to have their own private thoughts and things because that's common decency" they see it as "this is MY child and as their parent I have a RIGHT to know what they're thinking and doing even though I don't have to tell them a thing about what I do since I'm the adult." My parents were like that and still are sometimes.

The first story reminds me of my mom SOOO much and I feel for that kid....my mother would go into my room JUST to find things she thought was "suspicious" and then sit me down to yell at me for it. It wasn't until I was older that I learned that not giving your child a sense of privacy in their own home can lead to mental health issues and psychological problems since there's no reason to feel like they have independence or safety. And it really, REALLY sucks.

@@velzers6740 best you can do as a family member is to be comforting and reassuring your cousin. If you are present for a seizure, if they are major seizure that they lose full function of their body and have convulsions is to make sure they are in a safe area, move furniture, and other hard objects that flailing limbs could strike or be stuck on. Ease them to the floor and get a pillow (rolled up coat or shirt works as well) under their head, and DO NOT STICK ANYTHING IN THEIR MOUTH, NOTHING! I know the old methods were to put a belt or something else in a seizing person's mouth to avoid them bitting or swallowing it, but it is far more likely that by inserting something you will potentially be bitten or they could choke on what you put in their mouth. Likely when they come out of the seizure they will be very tired, and lethargic, this is normal, again reassure them, let them know they are okay, some people may need to know what happened as not all have auras or other warning signs, and have no recollection of what happened to them over the last few seconds or minutes. For those wondering where I get that information, I'm a Practical Nurse.

First story ... God, the whole "I want another kid" thing.. Sounds a lot like my brother's gf. She keeps "falling pregnant" every year and a half to 2 years, just enough so she can stay at home to take care of the baby and not go to work... They have 6 kids now. She's a terrible mother who doesn't care for her children, she's basically letting them do whatever they want and get mad at my brother when he tries to discipline them... They are his kids too, damn it. Thankfully, she should be snipped now, after doctors somehow managed to convince her it was for the best for her own health (she's obese, like 300lbs), has diabetes and other crap). They did the operation when she gave birth to the sixth one.

My cousin and her husband announced they were going to try for a baby. Now both of them at the time were living in a house paid for by my cousin's father and both were working low paying jobs and both in the middle of college. I just simply asked if that was a good idea knowing their financial situation. My cousin just says I don't know anything and proceeded to have 2 kids and didn't count on getting kicked out of the house and complained about not being able to pay rent. I will say one good thing. My cousin's husband is a really active father. He loves those kids to death and always makes time for them. My cousin just has some growing up to do

I totally feel the OP of the second story. My very strict parents would go through my things randomly and criticize me when they found things they didn't like, like teen idol magazines, drawings that I did, toy figurines, and especially candy. I couldn't even keep a journal without being dinged for "insipid, immature, and nonsense" entries. I was already not that close to them by then, and stuff like this didn't make me want to be. And if you think that holding someone to a "promise" that they made at 5 years old is extreme, my mom held grudges against me well into my adulthood for things I did WHEN I WAS 3.

My mother used to read my diary, too, as I found out when I came home from school and opened it to see that she'd scrawled "Grow up!" in huge letters across both facing pages [I'd been having a moan about something]. I was about 12 at the time. I immediately stopped using it: it was no longer a secure "safe space". That Christmas she got me one of those 5-year diaries that have a hasp and a tiny lock. They always have two keys, but I noticed that there was only one key with this one. "There's only one key," I said, puzzled. Mother attempted to look surprised. "Oh, is there?" And then the penny dropped, and I never wrote in that diary. How pathetically insecure must some people be that they need to spy on a child's diary? The only place a child should feel secure enough to write honestly?

The woman claiming to have a seizure disorder was clearly bsing since she chose not getting a 2nd opinion or properly diagnosed by a mental health official. My mother got a 2nd opinion about hers and got an apology from a Dr. in Springfield after wearing a brainwave device for 24hrs. because he thought she was bsing when she was having seizures that were clearly undetectable by the naked eye. And who calls CPS on a parent for not putting an *adult* relative's mode of transportation ahead of a child's right to have a place to sleep? If that Karen did that to my mother, she'd punch that poor excuse of a human for taking her youngest child away over a damn car before almost dying from a grand mal seizure (some can kill and/or further disable a person if they go beyond 5 min.)

"You promised me no sex before marriage when you were 5!" What 5 year old even knows about or cares for sex? What 5 year old doesn't make that kind of promise without the threat of making their parents angry if they don't? When a child that young 'promises' something like that it's to appease their elders, nothing more. Not a single kid that young even knows what they're really doing when made to stand and say the pledge of allegiance every morning at school. If you ask them and get a 'meaningful' answer from a few, it's likely a scripted response handed to them by their parents and teachers.

That first story hit me pretty hard. I've hard nurses misinform their colleagues that my seizures aren't real, regardless of having over seven drs diagnose them as seizures. It would get so bad that they would try pressing on my sternum to stop them, which doesn't work. And due to the type of seizures I have, I can experience everything while seizing and having absolutely no control or way to stop anything. I couldn't understand how they could think that anyone would fake seizures, especially at the intensity that I experience them. Yet, listening to this, I've become a bit more understanding. Non-epileptic seizures are treated as fake because of people like this. People like this are why nurses abuse me and misinform their colleagues. I just hope that people become wiser. It's already not fun seizing everyday and having people avoid you so they don't have to see it. It's worse when people try to prove you're faking by any means.
