Not necessarily. Normal people are stressed out by politics because they understand politics are complex and nuanced, and that their beliefs are subject to being reasonably challenged. But if someone is so unbelievably up their own ass about their politics and smugly certain of their political view's Total Moral Correctness, then they tend to derive pleasure from shoving them down other peoples' throats. There's no stress because they don't believe they could possibly be wrong about their beliefs.

Genuinely think IH is one of the most wholesome guys on youtube. He tries to stay apolitical and neutral on anything he makes, but he's still kinda edgy (read: he has a personality and can make jokes) and his content is rarely anything but neutral on the topics he's investigating. Why anyone would stop being friends with IH is beyond me. Legitimately I fail to understand why anyone could have a problem with him. God forbid someone is able to laugh at 4chan's weaponised autism and still be a normal, decent guy.

i used to sit and watch his retrospectives for hours because they were so interesting!! if u want someone else who does them similarly (without the whole political awakening lmao) i recommend Keyan Carlile. he's sort of awkward but pretty funny and very thorough with his reviews. a little shorter than Quinton's but worth a watch

I see a lot of myself in Quinton’s issues, and the cringe that comes with reading his whole text message tangents. It leaves a bitterness at the back of my throat, because while I understand why everyone is roasting Quinton, I feel the shame he probably feels with being a guy who doesn’t have as good social relationships as perhaps one wants or expected for themselves, and has to deal with the rude awakening that people you believed liked you don’t actually care about you.

thats similar to how i interpreted it too. i feel like he was expecting everyone to be bros and best friends bc he looks up to them/ their content and they were mutuals or collabed idk but i dont think many people naturally gravitated towards him like he probably imagined once his vids popped off, so he 'burnt bridges' (literally just unfollowing people n a few petty tweets, i really dont think that was super dramatic but idk). it just so happened to be public. and like it wasn't news to quinton that hes "a neckbeard" and making jokes about his appearance so he's obviously pretty self conscious, especially the constant texting of female friends. the torment from the anti-sjw commentary audience - that i distanced myself from and was probably deeply shameful about despite it just genuinely being of the time - would have sent me over the edge BEFORE people started picking apart my beliefs and saying i'm one of the bad leftists on youtube and like no one fucken stick up for you OR reach out to you. like fucken oath he would wanna unfollow people on twitter who were most likely actively watching his frustration and torment happen in real time on twitter. tbh i dont think he would have gotten nearly as much flack from the anti sjw audience and some leftist audiences if he was more socially attractive. god they let some leftist youtubers do some fucking STUPID shit if theyre attractive like why is hasan saying idubbbz was actually "sticking it to the man" by calling out people like leafy and keem bc theyre right leaning and why is anthony padilla just accepting idubbbz saying "i made edgy content for the meme. i didnt like the audience i created so i left that content" when idubbbz has at LENGTH ranted in defence of the NF slur and has said some genuinely horrible things. literally, sorry, HUH lmao. why aren't people actually being like 'no GENUINELY THAT WAS SO FUCKED why did u go to an 18yo youtubers meet and greet and say the n word as like a gotcha moment like truly, ACTUALLY that is so fucked up and weird' and the only people critiquing hasan and anthony are mainly right wingers. and with what quinton's done, I dont think he deserves this much flack. he's cringe, yes. but i think he just wants friends and community. i dont know much of the guy, i've followed him fairly recently after finding his icarly vids and never got any weird preachy vibes from those videos. mid to late 2010's was just such a completely different time for leftist youtubers. The communication style is why the social relationships can never become good. People who push at you with self-pitying tactics are quite literally the most exhausting people to deal with, for anyone. Fun fact: I apparently live in a bubble and had no idea there was any controversy with Quinton at all or that he was a former anti-SJW turned progressive. I discovered him a couple years ago and loved his videos on the History Channel and Ancient Aliens, and also enjoyed his Garfield and McDonald's videos more recently. Granted, I'm a progressive myself so anything overtly leftist he may have said in videos might have just gone unnoticed by me because I'm used to it, especially not knowing he had flipped positions. But as I type this I'm watching the video and man, his "nice guy" schtick is really cringe. Uuuugggghhhh I didn't want to dislike him because some of his videos have been so good! I guess we will see how things go. I do try to separate the creator from the content as much as possible. And at least I don't have to be completely in the dark about who he is behind the scenes.

Same. I watched him not too shortly before the controversy. Never knew until I saw this and yet I still chose to have certain videos of his saved. His videos on bad nazi documentaries, history channel, Garfield, etc are all extremely insightful, entertaining, and informative. It’s sad he ended up this way instead of just staying politically neutral in his videos. In fact he seems to have ended up on the list of figures who lost all respect after radicalizing to a disgusting degree.

i find it interesting a lot of leftists dont seem to recognize or just flat out ignore, the irony in a lot of edgy humor. like its pretty obvious with people like mumkey that they are making fun of bigoted people by portraying them as imbiciles with no morals. i get that some people dont like the use of slurs at all. which i can understand. but most of these guys dont make those their sole punchlime anyways. and its fine if youre not into that style of humor. but its not as problematic as they make it out to be theres definitley an issue that comes when the people being made fun of dont catch the irony and become a majority of the fanbase. which is why i think filthy frank quit at the end of the 2016 election and why a lot of people moved away from that comedy overall

@@_addogg I find it so refreshing to finally see that opinion reflected in recent times, since that was the appeal of Frank in the first place. I'm of that belief, that was always my genre of humour, but my sjw cousin and her echo chamber friends made it impossible for me to have an outlet of that sort of ironic humour because they didn't catch the irony and made it out like it made me worse than hitler for ironically using a slur which i would never use in a serious manner, which is to spite the idea behind the word. Which i mean, to each their own but it makes me concerned for their ability to deal with real life problems that you can't politely ask to go away that will be cruel, unpleasant, and hurtful. One thing also that irks me about that is like, the power in words is how they're used and how little they're used. The four letters that represents Jehovah's name are lost to time because it was so sacred and serious, and in the same way when someone says retard, even in the definition way like something is backwards, it hits way harder than it used to when it was everywhere. I think that's an unintended consequence of their snowflake mentality. Not that I'm advocating the idea behind slurs, but to get used to them is to put yourself in a position where they become so common they can't hurt you. Anyway, sorry for the weird tangent like a month late, I'm just glad to see another Enlightened One exists or was at least brave enough to be vocal about what made filthy frank funny, and not one of those people who tried canceling Joji when they discovered filthy frank for the first time.

In all honesty, I’ve done stuff like sending way too many messages and posting sad stuff to Twitter. I can’t help but empathize with that kinda stuff. Mind you I’ve learned a lot through fairly recent experiences that made me reevaluate how I approach these situations.

I didn't look into that whole thing but if some dude parades around the "male feminist" label then sends softboy garbage to chicks I'd appreciate knowing, so I can laugh, mostly.

The thing I gather that’s ruined him is his own inability to stick to his guns. He changes who he is to make himself attractive to others, and, as it always does, that shiftiness has made him disliked by everyone. You have to bite the bullet sometimes and accept that not everyone will like what you think. The silver lining to that, though, is that, as long as you’re a decent person regardless of your ideas, someone will like you for them or despite them. That’s how adults work. Quinton’s biggest problem, I think, is that he needs to grow up.

this is so weird to come across as someone who never heard of quinton reviews until like a year-year and a half ago. i was so completely unaware of any drama/controversy surrounding quinton. like i don’t follow him on anything outside of youtube. for me, his videos were good background noise, that i’d add to a giant playlist and just stumble across one day. i like his videos in the same way you remember shit from your early childhood: in rough, vague shapes that imply something good, highlighting in one or two clear ideas/events.

Guy had real legitimate friends, and dumped them for people he just assumed would be friends with him because they have the same political views. Quinton is now 24 and still acting this way, but not with women he actually knows. Instead he's acting all creepy and trying to get with women he has never met. I never knew about all of these details but unlike Turkethy Tomithor, it's made me lose far more respect for him, as it makes his transition to full blown leftie seem like it was only because he thought he could get laid/get a gf, which makes all of his crying about not having any friends feel so pathetic since he threw away so many friendships. If Chris Ray Gun and Laci Green could make a romantic relationship work despite disagreeing politically, Quinton could've stayed friends with his edgier fellow creators while turning into a Bernie Bro, but he was just so desperate for the bussi. I think there's something kind of weird when someone recognizes that they're unfriending a 'community' to try and befriend another? For me, it's hard to describe. In high school, if you befriend someone, you don't recognize them as part of a particular clique or group, you recognize them as individuals because you now have more substance to see them as an individual but once Quinton sees someone on a personal level it's almost like he can't handle it and recoils. Quinton doesn't want friends, he wants the group comradery and potentially the 'mob protection' that's afforded to more prominent members of particular groups of commentators. It seems like he wants to be an untouchable more than be just a good youtuber.

It’s crazy to go back and see all of this in your video and realize how much involved I was through all of this without even realizing it. I was at vid con when the commentary community was trying to reach out to him and since he followed me on Instagram I tried to reach out to him as well there and he decided to just Unfollow me. It wasn’t until cynical reviews called him out on it and then he followed me back like a few weeks later. Then I was also involved with the right Opinion response video as I was in the discord call while we viewed the rags video and helped with that video. When all of that was going on and never really felt like it was much of anything but now watching it in context in your video it really puts all of it into perspective. Thanks as always😸

See, the thing with that guy is, he's just fucking weird. I'm waiting for the saga where he comes out with having some sort of gender identity crisis.

I’ve enjoyed Quinton’s content for about 4 years now, and somehow I’m just finding out about this stuff. It’s sad to see. That’s what I get for trying to keep out of KZreadr drama I suppose That said, I kinda feel bad for Quinton. Not to play armchair psychologist, but he seems to be someone who has trouble regulating their emotions. I only say this because I’ve behaved similarly in the past and would pull the same pity party, or get really angry or sad about these sorts of things. It’s a scary and confusing thing to experience because you worry so much about what other people think of you that you forget to try and actually build a relationship. Like I said, I’m not a psychologist and I don’t know the guy, but I relate to his struggles and hope he can maybe get help if he needs it and find some peace

I didn’t find Quinton’s channel until he made the Victorious video. Crazy how much of a backstory that channel has.

I've just found Quintons's channel a few month ago through his victorious review. I had no idea of any controversy with him. Thank you for bringing this to light, even if this video was made a year ago.

I made the mistake of listening to that video while at work. Even without knowing the controversy I wanted to jump off the roof I was sheathing.

Some additions to stuff regarding EFAP Podcast (Mauler and Rags): -With Rags and Mauler’s first stream together on the former’s channel, Quinton commented “test.” Little did people know, this would be passive aggressive. -Quinton actually made a video in attempt trying to passive aggressively parody Mauler due to his critique on TLJ by doing a video on Citizen Kane. Not only did his audience not understand this, but Mauler commented on the video where, after a back and forth with Quinton backpedaling, the Garfield fan stated he would be down to chat with the Long man - this never happened of course and screen shots of them exist on Mauler’s discord. -Quinton’s response wasn’t limited to blocking them on Twitter. In the comments of the first EFAP episode respond to the video he TRO made, Quinton went a massive raid commenting on the video as well as comments on it. While he did in fact delete many of them, several remain. -For a short time after this, Quinton would go on to block anyone that guested on the EFAP Podcast. People founds this as the day after now reoccurring guest JLongBone fist went on, she was blocked by him. Despite all the shit Quinton has given them because they called crap crap, Mauler and co. have stated they actually feel bad for him with the whole Lindsey Ellis and Sarah Z stuff.

@@Mentally_Will Oh, he’s cohosting EFAP for almost three years now with Mauler and co. Basically he’s been having set backs with two reviews wanted to do with Batwoman and The Mandalorian. Things got corrupt or deleted on large video, especially with Mando as he planned on doing the whole first season but switched to just the first three episodes. Though he has stated that he’s planning on doing more response content again. But he’s still in the game with EFAP and it’s other content.

@@hachiman-9467 Basically Mauler and them stated that they felt that it was rather unwarranted of Lindsey and Sarah to release the DMs from Quinton. Don’t get them wrong, they still find him to be a jackass, but they said it was kind of a dick move. They said it better in on of their Bloodborne races, though I forgot which one.

His texts were really inappropriate and manipulative. By pre emptively throwing pity parties in a text with a professional connection, he crossed into personal territory. It's very much a huuuge warning sign to avoid direct contact. He absolutely earned and deserved the response he got and hopefully worked on himself. Guy waa blowing off small creators at the same time he was throwing pity parties for himself. He was manipulative and clout chasing. Sadly, it seems like he mostly only values people if they can elevate his status which is easy to pick up on and reject, making it a self fulfilling prophecy.

Imagine abandoning a group of creators that cared about you to try to pal up with a group of creators that think your a pest.

I don't think people turned on him for becoming "left leaning". The Right Opinion and J Aubrey are also fairly left leaning so there's clearly something else going on with this Quinton guy. I don't hate him but he definitely has "nice guy" vibezzz

It's mostly because Quinton has proven to be completely void of morals or personal beliefs in a borderline pathologic pursuit of being with the "cool kids", ironically causing the exact opposite to happen. His leftism is extremely shallow to the point where multiple people have made their own analyses pointing out how he's constantly contradicting himself regarding his so-called beliefs to the point of hypocrisy. Nearly every left-winging youtuber who he was once friends with hate him since he's a garbage person who primarily touts left-leaning talking points as a shield from criticism rather than anything remotely resembling genuine beliefs, since he's extremely quick to abandon anyone for tiny amounts of clout (which, rather humorously, always backfires and just makes him less and less popular because he's too stupid to realize how dumb that is).

Honestly I completely agree with criticism of Quinton, but occasionally he does put out fascinating work. I honestly loved his recent video about themes McDonald’s

I followed him for a while in his early days and his videos were fine, he obviously has some talent. If he just kept producing videos like he used to and kept his political opinions *mostly* to twitter and wasn't so damn petty he needed to shit on other people he all the time he would have been fine. He really does cause he own problems.

Same here. I still generally like the guys content (aside from a few objectively terrible videos), but Quinton himself is a mess of a person. And the worst part about this is that he could (and still can) pull himself out of this shit, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen anytime soon, the man is too deep in self-pity.

@@jerrysmith8814 Best thing for Quinton would probably to build up his offline support group, get some therapy for his self esteem, and if he's interested in politics, read some theorists from across spectrum, rather than Twitter hot takes. Still enjoy his videos though, tbh.

Idk, I think it's fine for Quinton to move on politically and socially. He's done some like interpersonally cringe shit, but most of his choices regarding his online presence are fine imo
