I think he was poisoned by his upringing and the amount of stock people put in him. I don't necessarily think Amos is a bad guy or that he actually did anything wildly bad, yeah even the CP stuff is mild compared to other cases, he could have benefited from stronger parental figures and less attention/praise /shock for whatever bullshit he was up to. He strikes me as a crafty and resourceful individual who had a cushioned and boring life with no struggles to temper his attitude, he rebelled against his own culture and religion only to become a stereotype of the other end of the extreme.

Update; Shortly after this video went out, Yee was sentenced to 6 years in prison. Some of his sentence was backdated due to time served. He should be out in 2026. He'll likely be deported and, as Tom says, may end up serving time for dodging national service. The guy is only 24 and he's already totally screwed up his own life. It's weird how some people in the comments defend him and blame everything on his upbringing or Singapore. This guy made his own choices. Blaming his actions on getting 'too much support as a child' is a terrible excuse. He wasted his potential and is likely to be in prison for most of his 20s.

@midouban628
2 жыл бұрын
Also just because kids can say "yes" and "no" doesn't mean "consent". Consent in this context only occurs when a person voluntarily agrees to the proposal or desires of another WHILE fully understanding the risks and benefits. This is why attorneys and medical staff before getting your consent signature are required by law to ask do you fully understand everything that was being said/explained; and do you have any questions/concerns.

I was fully convinced that I was going to find, catch, and become friends with my very own Gengar. I was one dumb kid, but I am glad that my imagination let me have fun and believe in the magic for a while too, it was very fun. It's so messed up that any adult would see a kid in those times and take advantage of that innocence.
Imagine paying for someone to get out of jail out of the generosity of your heart only to be called a pedophile, and *then* finding out that the same person who called you a pedo went to jail because he had CP, to say that he's anything short of a psychopath would be an understatement.

As a fellow Singaporean myself, I grew up feeling pretty free actually. It was only around the time when I started learning about our history that I realized that there are laws regarding hate speech towards race and religion (and it is through learning our history that I know why these laws are important for us). Human psychology is weird. For some reason, people seem to place a disproportionately huge amount of importance on race and religion and when people get heated up about these issues, the irrational hatred stirred up in these groups are like no other. Seeing this type of crazy hate, I do understand how things like racial riots and maybe even wars can be started, thus why such laws are needed in many countries. "Oppressive", "dictatorial" are terms that are unfairly used on us and we have been conditioned to accept these terms being used to describe us. Many countries perceived to be free such as Canada have the same laws regarding speech but don't get the same rep as us. Why? Because they're western countries and not asian ones? That said, we may not have true free speech but I've never felt as if I wasn't free enough to say whatever I want to say and also we are so much more free in ways that other countries are not (like the freedom of going out alone whenever we want without fear - for example, think of a petite woman at 2am taking a solo walk in a quiet park / around quiet parts of towns - that can't be done in many countries but I've done this type of stuff for years).
