Paulina Porizkova on modeling and a husband's betrayal

The Czech emigre supermodel was a familiar cover girl in the 1980s and '90s and became the face of Estée Lauder. But now, Paulina Porizkova tells "CBS This Morning" co-host Anthony Mason, the modeling shoots are much rarer, and the death last September of her husband, Ric Ocasek of The Cars, left her with a shocking surprise.

I agree. She has timeless dedication to her craft and she should be a role model for women and possibly gender-fluid people and men in that we don't age gracefully and life is not a continuous jolly stroll through the park blossoming at its peak. Our faces just cannot be the same as it was when we are in our twenties and twenty year olds shouldn't have to worry about their appearance now, although it does help to start being mindful of one's inner and outer beauty however one sees beauty. Creme for fine lines and age spots? For people who have just started their adult life? Um how about no. I love my smile lines and crinkles between my brows.

I grew up hating myself for not looking like Paulina. One day, as a 45 year old former dancer and beginner aerialist, I walked into a class and she was a student! All my insecurities returned. And yet, she was the most genuine, gracious, beautiful woman inside and out! Not a shred of entitlement. Just a pleasure to be around. And very hard working and helpful and supportive of all the students. I was blown away by her kindness. She’s the real deal and it’s impossible not to love her when you meet her.

self-love is a societal deception. why do you think ocasek separated from paulina? yes, he loved himself more. just think about it: if everyone thought this way, most, if not all relationships will not last. self-love is already part of our nature; we don't need to feed it some more. being giving to your spouse is part of real love and genuinely fulfilling, especially if she has the same mindset. been married 26 yrs and we've had our ups and downs but i will never trade her, or my life for any "selfish" gain. don't be afraid of being hurt as long as both of you have the "giving" mindset. everything will fall back into place if both think of the other more, and think less of "self-love". in my country, 4 out 5 couples stay together til the end and out of that 4, 3 are happy/ satisfied. the number of separations are starting to grow, though because we're slowly being indoctrinated by this western mindset.

She will not find peace with this, she will continue whining about how people dont' like her for her looks when it was the very thing she capitalized on. She keeps saying "I'm more than my looks" then keeps bringing up the looks thing. I still haven't found anything that is special about her and she hasn't shown it. this is so touching and sad. she's not only stunning but also very eloquent and emotionally intelligent. even though their marriage worked out for a long time, I can't help but be sad that a 19 year old was preyed upon by a 40 year old man. even if she didn't consider the age difference a problem, grown or even middle-aged men going for teenagers is always a major red flag. at 19, however intelligent you may be, you're just too inexperienced to understand that. and while the fact that he cut her out of his will has nothing to do with the age difference, it's even more devastating since she devoted her whole youth, life (up to this point), and money to him. all that doesn't cast a great light on him as a person even though I'm sure she wouldn't want that to be the takeaway of the interview.

She settled & made out fine. Ocasek wasn’t worth a whole lot when he died compared to what we might think. It’s common for divorce lawyers to tell their clients to change their wills as soon as divorce proceedings begin, which she did. She had already found another man. States provide an elective share if at least 1/3 so it’s not shocking that Ocasek followed his lawyer’s advice. Honestly, with most surprising to me is that he disinherited 2 of his adult children from a previous marriage.

@@janebraun4482 I understand what you mean but seriously, I’m not taking a side. It’s just standard that lawyers tell clients to change their wills when they separate. I stated what Icasek claimed to be his reasons for dis inheritance because most wills that disinherit say something but that doesn’t make it true. They could both be wonderful ppl or one or the other could be bad. She still had rights to a portion of his estate PLUS she also had her share of the marital estate. She wasn’t locked out penniless & I’m glad for that because that would indeed be wrong. She got a substantial settlement from his estate as she was entitled. Ppl didn’t seem to realize that they were watching a news story that was a few years old & that in 2021 she & the estate reached a settlement. Ocasek was never known as a bad man prior to this & he wasn’t expecting to die anytime soon when he signed the will. But there’s also been tragic cases where spouses didn’t change wills after divorces. Paulina Poriskova seems like a wonderful person & she doesn’t need to justify to anyone why the marriage ended. Likewise, imagine a spouse being in another relationship while going through a divorce & then inheriting because the will wasn’t changed when both parties expected the divorce court to divide the marital property & that each would be changing their wills to provide for their children or others. Ocasek was planning on being alive well after the divorce was over & had he lived a few months longer that probably would’ve been the case. So there’s no bad party here. Honestly I’d be very surprised if Paulina’s lawyer didn’t advise her to change her will to.

  • @r.williamcomm7693

    @r.williamcomm7693

    10 ай бұрын

@@janebraun4482 Yes Ocasek claimed in his new will that she abandoned him. That doesn’t make it true. In some states when disinheriting a spouse in a will the testator must acknowledge the spouse as part of a showing that he or she understood & had considered the gravity of doing such. Some lawyers include it as a matter of practice even if it’s not required to increase the odds of the will being upheld in court if it’s challenged. The case law goes way back in time & the statutory law often reflects that. Some ppl don’t realize that the estate settled with Poriskova, as it should. She most likely got half of the marital property which is how divorce courts typically divide it. New York law forbids residents from completely disinheriting a surviving spouse. If a person is legally married at the time of his or her death, the spouse will automatically inherit a percentage of the estate’s assets-even if the spouse has been intentionally excluded from the deceased person's will or trust.

You might want to look in the mirror when looking for reasons why your husband of 27 years decided to divorce you. Women initiate 75% of divorces (often because of their 'feelings'). Men, on the other hand, tend to stick it out..because men are practical. A man doesnt stay with a woman for 27 years..and 'all of a sudden' wake up one day and decide he wants a divorce. More than likely, he reached a point where he simply couldnt stand being around you anymore. Think about all the things that you used to do for him early in your marriage...and what things you just quit doing for him. Did you let yourself go physically? Did you quit having sex with him (or the type of sex with him that he craved)? Did you make him feel special? Did you nag/complain to him about trivial stuff? If your physical looks is what primarily attracted a man into marriage...then you better do whatever it takes to stay in shape/take care of your body (even after having kids). After all, if the financial ability of a man is something that attracted you to him...he BETTER be able to maintain that financial ability (which is perfectly reasonable). I dont feel sorry for women in their 50's who complain about being 'ignored' by men/society....when they themselves (when they were much younger/hotter) IGNORED most men/most of those in society. Aint payback a M0F0?

I know exactly how she feels. She and I are the same age and we both lost our partners suddenly. My partner of 14 years died suddenly of an aggressive form of liver cancer in May of 2021 only weeks after his diagnosis. He thankfully did not betray me in the way her husband did, but feeling like that person was your rock, your stability and safety and then suddenly having to learn how to live and navigate life without them is so scary and daunting. I also read that she was going through menopause (which can be awful) at the time...as was I...and having to deal with all the tribulations that come with that which only served to exacerbate the grieving process. My heart goes out to her. I hope she is finding a way to heal and gain peace.💞

Nobody is forgetting that. For this kind of case it doesnt matter. If you were married and made a life together then you pledged to share it regardless of good days or bad days or fleeting attitudes. That's what marriage is. Sharing everything is how you have complete trust in each other which leads to deeper relationship. You dont just change your mind when someone has pledged their life to you. Even if they were on bad terms you have to respect the other person's sacrifices. He must have turned into an appalling person, period.

I really do feel for her plight, ive been through similar with an ex who refuses to pay me my settlement. Paulina is EXACTLY the type of women i would like to follow and look up too, she comes across as the beautiful kind neighbor you can always call and relie on. That aside, she really is underestimating herself, she has a fantastic body and a very beautiful face, i cannot believe the top cosmetic brands are not using her to sell there products. I think she should do her own podcast/lifestyle, makeup and anti ageing products herself, im 52 not all of us want cosmetic surgery/botox etc, but choose to live with the daily changes and except them as permanent sometimes, that does not mean that we do not want to look as great as we can, i think Paulina said it all in her interview but missed the fact she IS in fact the obvious gap between surgery/giving up and should lead the way for us all........as the little red hen said "if you wont help me, ill do it myself".

As for her age and her natural beauty, cosmetic companies are foolish to consider her “too old,” particularly since Gen X is her age now, too, and, like her, they are aging well. Consider that the woman who played Aunt Bee on the old Mayberry show was about Paulina’s age at the time! Aging ain’t what it used to be!

We will all look the same when we're in our 70s! It amazes me how people, especially men, are so critical of women as they age and yet they just think they can trade a woman in for a younger one once she hits a certain expiration date, if you will. You have to put more into what is on the inside b/c if you don't like the person you're with or if you're a total cad, you're going to be pretty lonely, either being totally alone or going through women like underwear. And once you hit a certain expiration date, no one will want you because you have nothing to offer personality wise or emotionally unless you're wealthy. But how sad is that? Too bad it's only her side. I'm puzzled that she doesn't mention that they were separated, for quite a while, and she had boyfriends. Ric probably thought the divorce was about to go through and, being in ill health, he changed his will. Why would he leave anything to his ex-wife? She's independently wealthy. I'm sure the attorneys will sort it out and she'll get what ever common assets they had coming to her. So tacky to speak ill of the dead. www.showbiz411.com/2019/11/08/exclusive-ric-ocasek-was-diagnosed-with-cancer-just-before-his-death-resented-estranged-wife-paulina-porizkovas-boyfriend-ed-solomon

@@firenze5555 Truthfully aside from the interview I don't know anything about her. Big Cars fan and admirer of Ocasek and was saddened by his death from cancer. @@theHAL9000 I'm also a big Cars fan and fan of Ocasek and Benjamin Orr and the others. Ocasek's lyrics and music are awesome. It just bothers me that Ocasek isn't here to defend himself (and he was very private) but she makes it sound like they were married and together til the end when in fact she left him and had some boyfriends going on, not waiting til the divorce was final. I understand why he felt abandoned. Everyone believes the pretty lady without looking into both sides.

firenze55 See your point but he could have been gracious about the decades they had together. This is the problem with young girls marrying much older men. The men eventually are unable to perform marital duties...so then what? I always wondered what happens to these May-December couples at this exact point...wife in 50s, husband elderly...now what? Also I don't think she speaks ill of him...you can see her grief on her face. She still very much loved hin, but perhaps he was unable to accept that her love had taken on a new form.

BTW, she was 24 when she married him, so she was well old enough to know what she was doing. She left him when his health was declining and he needed her the most. This is a mess of her making. If she took her marital vows seriously - in sickness and in health - and didn't dump him for another man, she wouldn't be in this legal picadillo. Yes, she puts him in a bad light and says she's betrayed and abandoned - crazy! Not cool when they have 2 sons and this can be sorted out discreetly with attorneys. She's just trying to drum up sympathy when she goes after his personal fortune like royalties. She will get half of their community property and assets but she wants more. Greedy.

@@somchai9033 I thought it was creepy when the interviewer asked her if she had any idea why Ric cut her out of his will and she says, no, I have no idea! Seriously! What a liar. They were separated for years and she had her movie director boyfriend Ed Solomon. I don't know anyone who leaves their personal fortune to an ex. It's also creepy that she says that she was abandoned when Ric said that she abandoned him - and she did! She did leave him. But she has to make it all about her without any thought for their sons.
