Taylor Swift on "Lover" and haters

After only 13 years since the release of her first album, Taylor Swift has become a musical force of nature, with an armload of #1 hits, more Grammy Awards than The Rolling Stones, and (according to Forbes) the distinction of being the highest-paid celebrity on the planet. By any measure, an astonishing young woman. But there were times, she tells Tracy Smith, that being young, and a woman, has worked against her. She opens up to Smith about songwriting; her supportive family; critics and stalkers; the sale of her back catalog; and what the future looks like to her. She also invites Smith on the set of the new music video for her latest album, "Lover."

Classy ladies don’t sic an army of cognitively compromised and tricked preteen/twenty something girls, on her ex-boyfriends, with thinly veiled assault lyrics. Words as kindling for torches and bonfires-Then she clumsily, although she might think coyly, denies it all. My sole sympathy for her is when they accused her for bullying a black man in Kanye-Kanye is a grownup man, older than she, he can handle the fallout of his own foolishness. And the whole black thing? For those that bring it up, it’s as if they’re saying black is handicap, not who Kanye is. To me THAT’s racist. Not Taylor. She clapped back at a rapper. How is that controversial. The rap game is all sniping, hyping, or vibing.

I have a different opinion of her. Taylor is a multi-millionaire who was outraged enough to use her voice and platform to chew out Spotify over artists not getting enough of a cut from streams (which is fine), but wasn’t outraged enough to call off her fans from sending death threats and racist hate to the Ginny and Georgia actress whom Taylor threw under the bus with a tweet defending herself. (NOT fine). She is very self serving but has a knack for disguising her self-interest as altruism. Used to love her but I’m soooooo disillusioned. Wish she would speak out on things that affect people other than herself.

@@Idkwhattonamemyself545 that’s what’s even more egregious. They sent her death threats because Taylor was thin-skinned about a joke on the show (delivered by the actress who received the threats). The line was literally “you go through more men than Taylor Swift”. Taylor’s outrage was, in my opinion, disproportionate to the offense, but she still took to Twitter to sound off about it and claim that it was “deeply sexist”. Her feminism proved to be very self-serving when she failed to put the same effort into defending the actress that she had put into defending herself. One was a joke and the other was racist death threats.

My favorite that Taylor was too classy to mention: A 70 year old man dates/marries a 20 year old. "He's a virile hunk." It's all accepted in society. Men admire him. Women [or men] wish it were them, because, trust that he also has money in his pocket...and bank. A 70 [or 60 or 50] year old woman dates/marries a 19 year old and she is ostracized as a cradle snatcher - a disgusting pervert or worse, a stupid, "elderly" victim falling for an obvious con. Really, "How could she think ANY young man would care for her." Society gives only scorn... unless she has mucho money in the bank. But behind her back-meow!

Forgiveness does NOT mean you are weak, and it does NOT mean that you have to keep this person in your life; in fact, forgiveness has nothing to do with the other person. Forgiveness is for God, and your soul, and your well-being. Even if you don't believe in Jesus (and I pray that you do, or will), holding unforgiveness only hurts YOU. The other person doesn't suffer, you do. Taylor Swift is labeled a drama queen for a reason; holding long grudges against people for various and oftentimes trivial reasons, is one of those reasons. I disagree a lot lol she never seemed "too" planned in her speaking and she does absolutely not sounds like she has not planned what she is answering now lol she even repeats the exact same words in different interviews, of course its planned and she thinks a lot about what to say. which is not a bad thing, its being prepared and responsible. and she even admitted it long ago. she is very responsible and cares a lot about her words.

Now she's with Travis, who has no problem with the limelight fishbowl as long as he's with her. It is possible to manifest your future by speaking it. She did. Miss Taylor has let herself become a light and beacon to others with her music, videos and host on talk shows. She is like no other who has shown love towards others fans or not but truly to her fans. Her talent is beyond expected maybe to herself even and taking on everything from productions, directing, singing, writing, and her imaginations to not repeat is nothing but brilliant. More beautiful than anything she does would be staying a simple person being even with anyone. When seeing her talk to people from any group, size, or status she is that person she is talking to.

What Christians do or do not believe has changed many times in the past 200 years, let alone 2000 years, and virtue signaling for Christians about something that is in no way universal among them, nor a long standing tradition within their order, is so facetious in nature it makes me laugh. P.s. Christians have no original thoughts at all. Hence why they keep quoting a book written over the span of 700 years by 4 or more authors instead of speaking for themselves.

Actually, I'm concerned for Taylor about this whole "You don't have to forgive and forget" thing. True, none of us can truly forget the bad things certain people have done to us, but we can forgive them. Forgiveness doesn't equal reconciliation with the offender; we still have a responsibility to keep ourselves safe physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I just hope this thought finds its way to her: Forgiveness isn't for the one who hurt you; it's for the one who's been hurt.

Taylor's is completely right about forgiveness. Forgiveness is for when the person that hurt you recognizes they made a mistake, and apologies, indicating to you that they never intend to hurt you that way again. When a person doesn't, there is nothing to forgive. What you can do is accept the facts, stop the hurt, and find someplace else to focus your energy, in other words, move on. In both cases, your pain diminishes, but in the one, your opinion of the person softens, and in the other, it doesn't.

Very well said! That phrase is often said to victims of trumatic experences like rape. People say you need to forgive in order to move on but they fail recgonize that not everyone deserve your forgiviness. What you can do is work on not allowing that persons actions define you. Once that's done you can finally detach their power over you and trutly move on but, of course never forget so you don't ever allow them to get close to hurt you again.
