@Maria An Her voice is fine. Easily recognizable when she sings. Is it the biggest, boldest, best vibrato, widest range, with whistle notes? No. She's not a vocalist (you know the ones who impress your with their vocal runs & belts... but you can't remember what the song was actually about). Swift is a singer-songwriter. For her, the story/song always takes preference. However... she has shown some impressive vocals... when the song calls for it.

I would say “supportive family” instead of privilege. Cause her family literally moved across the country and dedicated much time to her 11 years old daughter [they have a son too]. They believed in her and made sacrifices for it… So it’s a lot about having a supportive family who does believe in you (or at least want to give you a try)

pyro gambler she was the first mainstream pop artist to completely bring back the 80s influenced music with 1989, and it was the first major release Jack antonoff ever produced, as he went on to produce with artists like Lana, lorde and st Vincent because of it.

I absolutely loved how Jack described that the bridge is like a tunnel when you're driving on a highway, he and Taylor are the most genius musicians I know

Nooo not songwriter of the century. That's too much. Alanis Morissette always blows me off my feet with her songwriting. The way she weaves words together is to me very sophiaticated. Even Taylor appreciates her songwriting skills. And I bet there are loads of songwriters out there who are better. But Taylor is kinda better than her peer celeb songwriters like.. umm... harith the thing is, is she used Cruel Summer as the lead singer, we would have been sort of disappointed with the album. She always leaves the best songs for the album! And Me! Set the tone for the album and for the era. It was sort of saying, hey the reputation era is over, welcome to the lover era, and I don’t think Cruel Summer would have had that same effect.

Taylor explaining the Christmas lights January thing...mind-blown. I thought it was silly (and normally I see her reasoning behind decisions and realise they are great choices earlier than most others clock on) but because I've never had that in my life and never moved house it didn't click for me. Seeing her explain such a simple sentence with so many layers with such real passion and excitement is truly inspiring to me...just makes me sit back and go "huh :)" smiling to one side of my face in awe.

She is the real deal. I’d be mad too if someone who hated me owned all of my old hard work. But she has the talent to make many more beautiful songs.

“I wanted to write a song that people who were in love would want to dance to” yep this song was our first dance at our wedding and I know lots of other couples make the same choice!

It's so fascinating that something that was in her head is here with us we can listen to anytime. Like it's just surreal, I just love this about music, you get to share experience of the artist and their craft anytime and that makes you feel numerous things at the same time

Also... I love the fact that Taylor shows us on every song that even though she is making pop, she can still add a lot of talent, art, her own lyrics and her own melody to everything. She changed pop music because of it, and for that I am beyond proud.

Tony Ofarrell - Yes, he produced and is a cowriter on many of her songs, but Taylor is still the main songwriter. Many of her cowriters like Liz Rose and Ryan Tedder have even said that when working with Taylor, they functioned more like editors.

Tony Ofarrell - Okay, but she still writes the songs. She always has. She even writes many of them completely on her own. She wrote the entirety of her third album Speak Now on her own without any cowriters. She also wrote songs like "State of Grace", "Red", "I Almost Do", "Stay Stay Stay", "Holy Ground", "Sad, Beautiful Tragic", "The Lucky One", "Starlight", "Begin Again", "This Love", "Lover", "Cornelia Street", "Daylight", and "Christmas Tree Farm" on her own. Why do people always feel the need to diminish or explain away a woman's talent or success? People have been questioning whether she ACTUALLY writes her songs since the beginning of her career, and I know for a fact that people don't do the same with Ed Sheeran.

I would honestly love to watch how Taylor breaks down EVERY SINGLE SONG. WOW. JUST WOW!!! and btw, her creative partnership with Jack Antonoff is just a match made in heaven. Chef's kiss!

i always thought this was such a genuinely genius lyric, like that’s nothing much of “can i go where you go? can we always be this close” or “and at every table i’ll save u a seat” but this is so beautiful and describes love so well

This video truly shows how talented she is as a songwriter.

I love how genuine and pure she sounds everytime she explains her creative process. A decade in the industry but you can feel she still takes it as it was the first time, every single time. That's pure talent❤

Taylor is one of those artists that will only be fully appreciated way after her time. I think people are finally starting to see her for who she is. She’s the foundation.

On the word Lover being polarizing I think it's beyond Taylor. Yes some people are simply creeped by the use of it sexually. But more than that, it's the casual use of such a powerful word, and meaning it. To call someone your lover is so intimate and strong that to do it so openly and unflinchingly scares more cynical less sentimental people because the concepts of love and forever are indeed scary and intense and not everyone knows how to be openly vulnerable the way (for example) songwriters are.

also because lover is not used as much in the current generation. we have boyfriends and girlfriends and partners and baes. beau/ lover/ suitor are perhaps older as terminology and evolution go. also the more obvious sexual implication of lover as you rightly pointed out. also, lover is often used as a non heterosexual reference- often played for laughs in sitcoms, say FRIENDS or so.

God, I got goosebumps hearing her voice memo on the night she was inspired to write Lover. It's not the best track in her album, but it's just so enchanting to hear how she realizes an idea of a song.

I just love watching her talk about the creating process of songs, you can tell she's really connected with herself when she does that. It's just beautiful. Lover is a masterpiece

I love her omg

I am happy on how proud she is of this one because it really is a masterpiece and people are going to dance to it forever, it is a song that - unlike most of what we hear on the radio right now - won't ever grow old. No one is ever gonna listen to this song and think "oh no that is too 2019", nope because it could have been made 20 years or 20 seconds ago (see what I did there lol) and I am very very happy with it.

Rafaela Martini there are plenty of great songs out there playing on the radio. And ya so in 2021 that song will be like who sang that. And news flash some songs that come out this year or years ago do get old. Like some of her older songs are old. Swifter fans will have sleep overs and be like, “like omg Taylor is like omg the Bomb like really for sure”! 😂

I've heard her talk about her songs a hundred times but for some reason this seems more profound, I guess that's what happens when they get asked that from people who care about the answer

It's the NYT. They have excellent journalists who know how to conduct an interview. So much came out in just a few minutes. That's how it should be.

I just love that they are all so young and there isn't some old guy in the sound room telling the performer how it should be.

Jack described so beautifully the bridge that it actually made sense !

Some people will keep denying her success and the reason behind it till the day they die, but I’m pretty sure they had at least one of her songs stuck in their head 🤷‍♀️ I love her as a songwriter, been a fan for 10yrs and I’m still just as excited each time she releases music.

She’s a fabulous songwriter Whether you love or hate Taylor Swift, you have to admit she’s DOMINATING music because she’s EXCEPTIONALLY talented

I cried after watching this. I only just recently started stanning Taylor *once more* ( got a love-hate fanship with her the past few years) and the whole of Lover album took me back home for good. What I like about her songwriting the most is how clear her vision is in each and every song she writes. I could watch her talk about her songwriting process all day honestly.

She’s beautiful, like her energy can hella fill a room without being famous.
