How did you not know of her before?... I believe that you are either some years too young (and missed when she was a popular model) or else you were living under a rock during the 80s. In the 80s and early 90s, photos of her were everywhere. If you looked at a magazine rack at a store during that time, she was probably on at least one cover or in one issue or another almost continuously for about ten years. I'm 57. I suspect that you're at least 15 years younger than me.

Her parents immigrated to Sweden first, from Czechoslovakia, when she was 6, I think, leaving her behind, because the escape from the communist camp with heavily patrolled and barb wired border was dangerous, and she then joined them with her grandmother few years later when she was about 10, still in Sweden, from where they continued to America later on. At least I think that's how she got into the free world when she was little. Her escape with her nana was also very dramatic, because the communist were very obstructive and didn't want the family to reunite in Sweden, they wanted to use 6 y.o. Paulina as a collateral and a extortion tool for her parents to return to the commie Eastern Europe! God, those were really horrendously hard times for the people there! Disgusting regime! I hate communists with a vengeance!

I always found Paulina to be the most beautiful of the 1980’s/early 90’s supermodels. Perfect face, perfect body, a real personality and very smart and witty to boot. I remember how much in love she was with Ric Ocasek at the time and was saddened to hear how he treated her in the end after 28 years of marriage. Lesson of the story: Girls, always have your own money and bank account to look after yourself in case you ever need to leave a situation.

This lady is the pinnacle of human beauty, there are a handful of others who are equal in her beauty but you don't get any more beautiful than this.

If you see interviews of her now, you can tell the hard knocks of life have either humbled her a bit or made her more comfortable showing her vulnerabilities. Her personality back then seemed very Eastern European: lvery straightforward and a bit brutally honest. In today's interviews, she's still honest but she seems much more relaxed, not pretending to be tough.

That already was an asshole comment, and she answered him perfectly when she replied "Human Being, dave" which to an intelligent person that means they define themselves by everything that makes THEM human which can be kindness, intelligence, interests, hobbies, etc., not JUST by their occupation, which many do and are shallow because of it. Dave didn't like her answer because he wanted to keep her in a box and insinuate she could be no greater than her profession. He kept pushing that mantra, it seemed he was very upset by her answer and said "we don't need any more humans (you)" which i felt was a grotesque and undefendable statement to say to someone. You could sense her displeasure from time to time from there out but she never became combative or insulting to dave and i greatly commend her for that. Yeah because that list is scientific and actually consists of the 100 smartest people in the US and Paulina really belonged on that list..

Had never actually seen an interview with her. Anyone who can fluster Dave is good in my book. That's rare lol. I'd only ever seen some photos....and the music video for The Cars' Drive. And always thought she was inhumanly gorgeous....just beyond captivating and beautiful. And it turns out...she's got a killer personality. Very real, witty, and smart. I like her even more now....

She starred in the movie "Her Alibi" with Tom Selleck back in the 80s, that was the first time I saw her, then I read about her being a supermodel and married to Rick Otcasek and I thought what a lucky S.O.B. Turns out he really was a S.O.B.

When l first saw her interviewed at age 54 on Sunday morning magazine and heard she signed a contract for 6 million, l thought dang, if she was smart and invested it, she'd be well set for life. Then the bomb shell, she put it into the marriage. Geez, l wished to God that l could have met her back then and direct her in a healthier way. That shot of her with her 2 sons at Ric's speech at the rock n roll hall of fame shows how much she really cared about him. In the end he did what a lot of people do, unfortunately abandoned her.....better off taking care of yourself than be burned. Such a lovely person, thanks for upload. Pray to God the sons don't repeat what their father did!

I recently watched a video of her speaking about “stumbling” into modeling from her perspective of now, and I was curious whether she was as blunt and displeased with societal notions at young age and damn! She is incredibly well spoken and should get more notoriety for her brilliance besides the obvious beauty.

Her face really resembles one girl I had a major, major crush on. Naturally beautiful and smart.

I knew the guy, he was a colleague from work and he helped me with something important, so I would be a real douchebag if I now tried to steal his gf, I couldn't do it. She liked me too, the colleague at times confided in me drunk how she loves me and so on, but he didn't want to let go of her either. She's the one that got away for sure.

Agree but the world has evolved and professional in that profession don't have any upside like that anymore . Impossible to upgrade that level since you reach that level by entering a new market followed by huge amount of money and glamour there you have the peak performance . From that point is only downwards .

Back in those days, I remembered just two things. Supermodels and Rockstars ruled Mankind. With a few genetic freaks like Arnold Schwarzenegger to remind us what living it big truly meant. Nowadays? Everything is Made In China. People now are so used to cheap ass, low quality kak that they'd even mistaken Amy Schumer for a reincarnation of Cindy Crawford. It isn't far-fetched to say that this generation is tasteless.

Because she established boundaries with him. Notice how he kept calling her “cute” which actually would take power away from her, but instead of taking it in and “being nice” she kept the upperhand by keeping powerful energy and saying “yeah haha whatever”. Letterman was probing. She didn’t give him a chance.
