Just tears man...I have an 8 year old son who is about to turn 9. I got this game around the same time. I have preordered two copies, and cannot wait for him to have his copy going on his switch while mine is on the tv. To be able to have that experience with him all these years later....tears of joy. I love how this remake perfectly blends the comic book aesthetic with the paper cutout aesthetic. It looks gorgeous. I hope this is how the Paper Mario series looks in future entries. It’s so gorgeous.

Is the perfect middle ground between TTYD and TOK's artstyles, having paper aesthetics that are not the whole focus of the game. It makes the game feel like one of those books where the characters and background pop up when you open a page, and is so gorgeous!

@@PurplePuppyV I thought Origami King’s ring was decent for regular enemies but the bosses were just as horrible if not more so than in Sticker Star and Color Splash. But you can’t beat TTYD’s battle system, which is fun because of how simple, fair and customizable it is.

I DO like how you fight bosses in oragmi king however. I must admit the boss fights are fun. I mean no offense to anyone.

This is unequivocally the best Mario game to me. I remember being so enthralled with the dialogue, the chapters' tonal shifts, the crazy mechanics.. Oh and the entire tournament arc with your scrappy Yoshi that changes color based on the time you spend with his egg. Dang. This game.

i think about this game every few days. i have surgery coming up soon with tons of recovery time just laying in bed, i really hope this game will come out before then. ive replayed the gamecube version since 2004 at least once every couple of years. its my go-to game. my wii broke down a few years ago so i ended up selling my gamecube games including ttyd, and i miss playing it so much. i found bug fables and its amazing but i dont revisit it as much (i just finished bug fables for the second time last year). anyways i love this game and i love you creators and i love you person who decided to read through my ramblings, i hope you have the best of days! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Peak Paper Mario. Honestly, peak gaming period. I was 20 when this game came out. For anyone who's never played it, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. The hilarity of the in-between-chapter Bowser scenes is just top notch.

I hated this game so much but I’m going to give it a second try.

Not just the greatest Mario RPG, but the best RPG I've ever played period.

I never thought we'd see the day that Nintendo remembered this game. I'm beyond hyped to play Thousand-Year Door with such a fantastic new coat of paint!! Hopefully this could mean a return to form for Paper Mario in the future.

This is literally my favorite game of all time, even among open world gaming giants. The pure child-like fantasy and comfort that you get from TTYD and Earthbound is unparallel.

If only we could get an Earthbound Trilogy Remaster/International release. The Links Awakening and/or Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl style graphics would work so well for the series. @@typlayer Who knows? There's still a year left for th Nintendo Switch and then there's the next console they have which is said to be similar.

My grandmother bought me a GameCube when it first came out and this was my most heavily played game. She since passed away and the GameCube is all I have left of her. Nintendo is tugging my heartstrings with this remaster. Cannot wait to revisit memories I had with this game.

Since I’ve never played the original, I’m going to treat this like it’s a new game. Looking forward to experiencing the story.

Every paper mario fan and new fan need to buy this game because we need Nintendo to realize that we want these type of Paper Mario games, not Sticker Star, Color Splash or Origami King.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how absolutely PHENOMENAL the music is in this trailer. It's incredibly faithful to the original while adopting Nintendo's more modern style and implementing live instrumentation Also, I guarantee the final Bowser battle theme is going to go so damn hard

But I felt the game was not even remotely balanced, especially when it comes to Vi and her one useful ability.

This game spawned my 11-12 years of fanfiction writing from the 8th grade to nearly current day. The characters, the settings…I can’t lol. It’s that much of an impact on my life. Such a powerful game

Crazy to read how many people say this was their favorite video game. It is still my favorite to this day as well and I'm so happy to see it return. Ironic since the original TTYD was the 2nd lowest sold game in the Paper Mario series. Even Stick Star outsold it and that game was trash. Funny how more people played it through emulation than on actual GameCube hardware.

I'm coming back to this lately. I cried and screamed when it was announced. Now I just cry every time. This is a masterpiece of a RPG. 5 months. We gotta get something soon. Please nintendo. Just confirm it's still coming. Just another trailer saying "2024" is all I need.

If they don't tamper with the script, I do think this game writing still holds up. Especially nowadays. Despite being a kids game, there's a lot of dark writing for adults.

This was the first game that I ever stayed up past midnight playing. A huge part of my childhood. Thrilled for this

Absolutely worth being a game you stay up past midnight for. I did the same and then got to the spooky cursed chest and promptly decided it was bedtime, since I was so young, hahaha!

Anyone noticed how in the Glitzville juice shop, you can see through the window now & can see Poddler cleaning up the dishes? 😍 I love these new animations.

The die hard fans recognized that jingle and book almost instantly, I screamed the second I saw it. I am so happy this is finally coming back!

The updated graphics are gorgeous, but I'm also so, so happy to see that everyone looks like they're supposed to. As an older player, games like TTYD are a place of comfort for me, so characters not being replaced or restyled too heavily honestly means a lot to me. It literally looks like if the original game just happened to be made 20 years later with the exact same art direction.

There's no gross white sticker outline like from sticker star, color splash and origami king which I was afraid they'd do so thankfully they kept it faithful to the original

@@brianv9242 This one definitely comes down to taste, but agreed. I definitely prefer the flush cut of the earlier titles, and it's another of those details I'm glad isn't being arbitrarily changed.

I just hope that backtracking in this game is easier than it was in the original. Don't get me wrong, I've also spent many hours with this game in high school, but the backtracking was just awful at times.

The cool thing about this game is that the people making it we’re probably the ones who played it when they were younger, and it blew their minds. There’s a lot of love in this work.

This actually brought me to tears. TTYD is my favorite video game of all time and I discovered it during the roughest time of my childhood. I've probably played it over 30 times and will absolutely play the heck out of this. Thank you so much, Nintendo. This is truly magical.

I remember playing this and the N64 Paper Mario with my daughter. She was so little that she couldn't read so I translated and acted out all the characters for her. She laughed at all the silly lines. Bowser is the true star of this game. I loved his sidescrolling sections. The battle system is so good too. I especially loved the train and wrestling chapters.

We'll need to see what exactly had changed from the original to see if it's enough to justify the purchase. I'll recommend to new players regardless but to returning one's it'll be different.

My heart soared seeing that book again, all the childhood memories of playing this game huddled around a tiny CRT TV with my little brother came rushing back. I'm so happy to see this game again and literally nothing is going to stop me from getting it.

I'm glad they're doing this for the game's 20th anniversary. Can you believe that this game is almost 20 years old? I can't... it's still one of the best things I ever played.

If that's part of the marketing, than they might not release it until the second half of 2024. The original was released in July of 2004 in Japan, October in North America and the UK, and November in Europe and Australia

It's awesome they're giving every character their own speech sound in this version, plus the new models (facing backwards, new reactions) for the old characters is a very nice touch.

I’ve been crying all day at this. It might seem ridiculous but this game means absolutely everything to me To elaborate: TTYD was my first video game experience some 20 years ago, I still have the original copy, and I’ve replayed it every 2 years or so since then. I’ve played it a good 11 or 12 times.

the turn battles arent very creative like ogk, CS, SS in my opinion. it looks boring and bland i rather they stick with the new combat system moving forward. thats what made paper mario so great

It seems to be nothing more THAN an HD Remaster than a remake since they don't appear to be changing anything about the core game, which is a good thing.

@@deafidue5535 I would call a complete graphical overhaul and redone soundtrack to be a remake. It would be a remaster if they just upped the resolution and put it out on Switch, but I do agree it's good they aren't changing the gameplay from what they showed

Nintendo is killing it lately! This is one of my favorite games of all time. I haven't played it since I was 17 and I am now 35. This is almost too much, I'm so happy right now.

So incredibly blown away by this. Never thought it would ever happen. Alternating seemingly randomly between tearing up and busting up with laughter at the sheer joy of this announcement.

Genuinely the best gaming experience of my life was playing this game as a kid. I cannot recommend a game any higher than this one, it's truly a masterpiece

Yes, be excited! This game was something I picked out when my great uncle took me to Walmart all those years ago and said to pick anything I wanted, I remember the beautiful artwork and the golden cover on the original GameCube disc, and I played it so much growing up. It's the one thing I can remember that uncle by, no matter how much time passes. The remake seems so unreal, like a wonderful dream that I'm going to wake up from any minute. I hope you take your time and talk to the characters, look for secrets, return to old areas with new abilities, and take in everything the game has to offer!
