I played most of the 2D Metroid games (even though I haven't finished Super Metroid or Samus Returns yet) but I will certainly be playing Prime at some point

That game was Game of the Year back in 2002 according to the wide majority of the gaming media. It's recognized as one of the best Gamecube games ever. In 2023, the game is back and it's one of the best Nintendo Switch games ever.

2 hours in, now in phendrana drifts (favorite map) I can say this remaster is really a work of art. Not just a re-skin of the original but a full re-work on every model, texture and controls. I was expecting the trilogy being ported but I'm really happy with this one.

@mpforeverunlimited The Switch is fine. Nintendo stopped caring about graphics a long time ago. Only reason to upgrade to a new Nintendo console would be for graphics, and do we really need better graphics for Nintendo games? I use my PC for graphically intensive games.

I’ve been dreaming for this for over a decade. I was overjoyed when they announced this during the direct and I instantly downloaded it. When I landed on Tallon Overworld for the first time and took a look around I actually shed a tear. The game looks stunning and was so deserving of a remaster.

I shed a tear at that point when I first played it on Gamecube. It's the music and the nostalgia of landing on the planet for the first time with the rain falling. Basically it's what you had in your imagination when you first played Super Metroid, it's incredibly well done evocation of a childhood memory.

I don't really see any reused textures from the original and there is normal mapping and new lighting all over the place. the lighting in this game does not compare to the original on game cube if they did a remaster wow though they did an extremely good job definitely worth the $40. also might I add Metroid has always made it a point to be a graphically intense game. this just gives me high hopes for Metroid Prime 4

This is modern hardware at its most entertaining point. The very reason a Nintendo Switch successor will likely not appear until Activision Sony and Microsoft have sorted out how they will divide Activision's assets among the four of them. But to be honest, I am upset that they didn't add a visible anti-gravity-field in the game's opening cutscene sequence.

@@TheDiamondCraft1 So, in order to be "modern" you can't play splt-screen-multiplayer with four through eight controllers on one console, cannot use a phone as a controller, can't be repaired for less than $200, the motion controls have to suck in a way that feels forced like the kinect or VR, the 5K screen has to give you severe eye problems including myopia or iris cancer before you turn 40 years old, AND has to adopt an upscaling technology that both eliminates the ability to veiw art the way the artist intended, and renders the human character in trollhunter as if he has a grin that would make the heath ledger's scars look less out of place. And have to spend 1700 thousand dollars on PC equipment every year, which is more than any decent mayor of anyplace other than NY or LA makes. Is that what modern means, Or is that what modern really does means?

I frankly enjoyed the majority of the direct. Splatoon 3 Wave 2 teaser, GBA games for Switch Online, Confirmed release date for the next Zelda game, Ghost Trick finally ported to a modern device that is not a decade old iOS device (though the DS version is still great!) and of course, Metroid Prime Remastered. Generally tons of decent news for me.

Man, I love that haunting soundtrack! I will never forget seeing Samus' ship land on that planet for the first time. Looking up into the drizzle and seeing drops land on her visor. What an experience back in the day.

Arguably THE greatest video game of all time, nearly remade, on the perfect console that makes it handheld, home console or portable console with kickstand and detachable controllers. This is history in the making!

I still have Echoes but man, even back in the day I couldn't get far in any of these Prime games. Nasty at combat, but Its like i have junior alzheimers when it comes to the exploration aspect. The worst for me was Corruption. I start getting overwhelmed just thinking about that map.

I was able to find a large amount of the artifacts before the game even told me that I had to find them. my personal experience aside, exploration is already what you've been doing the entire game, so how does more exploration hurt?

I remember growing up just watching my older brother play this game. Never actually played it till now. Still has the nostalgic to it, and I remember a lot of how to beat the game. Takes me back! I’m happy they’re doing this. Gonna binge the series as they release 2 & 3. Finally going to beat 1 on my own with the remastered.

You know you have a damn good game when watching just a second of footage online puts me in the mood to play it, even having beaten Metroid Prime dozens of times.

One of the best games with one of the best soundtracks ever produced.

So after playing for a couple hours… HOLY CRAP. Whoever did this remastered needs to do more for Nintendo, I’m not joking when I say this, but you could convince me this was made for Switch, despite this game is nearly (or well it might be now!) 20 years old! I played this in my childhood and so happy to do it not only at 60fps, but 1080p! It looks and feels SO GOOD, probs the BEST port and remastered game of Switch to date. Please DO THE REST this way.

After 20 years, I can finally retire the original disc of the first game I ever played. Favorite game of all time, so I screamed with euphoria when I saw this.

What an awesome game! First time player here, hoping for 2 and 3 remaster!

One of the first games I've ever played and one of the best games I've ever played. No other game has replicated the same feeling this game has and I wish I could play it for the first time again. The world it creates with its different ambiences and environments, and the sense of exploring and wanting to know more made me appreciate immersion in games. I hope this means remastered versions of MP2 and MP3 are coming in the near future. 🙏

My favorite single player game of all time...best surprise I've had in a while!

This game got me into the Metroid series, and I'm glad to see that it got its spit and shine like it deserves (and had even back then).

One of the best games I've ever played, if not THE best! The little details it had on the GameCube were mind blowing at the time for me. Like the first time you see Samus' eyes reflect on the visor, steam fogging up the visor, etc... Even scanning objects was so satisfying. Still have my GameCube and copy of Prime, also still have the WiiU and copy of the trilogy. That being said, take my money!

I didn’t even know this was apart of the event, but this is pretty damn awesome to see. I hope they also do this for Primes 2 and 3

Best game I've ever played even to this very day. Buying the physical version DAY ONE!

This drops on my birthday let's go!!! I love this game to bits. Remember playing the demo at circuit city. Immediately feel in love and had to have it. If I could erase the memory of playing it I would just to experience it for the first time again.

Even the leaves on the tree when her ship lands looks significantly better than the original. EDIT: Complete graphic overhaul confirmed.

20 years. 20 years since I first played Metroid Prime. It has brought me the happiest memories with my dad. Allowed me to meet my first and best friend when I moved at age 11 when we both played the game. Metroid Prime 2 echoes multiplayer was our Halo. A chance meeting with one of the creators of this game is why I met all of my precious friends in college, who I still see regularly. Not mention, replaying this game has gotten me out of depression twice now. Thankyou Nintendo for this remake. Thankyou for sharing this beloved game to a new generation.

@@unkindled6410 Every asset, texture, model lighting system has been rebuilt from the ground up. A remaster would simply upres existing assets. A reMAKE gives you new ones. So it’s a remake. It’s weird how people still can’t get their terminology straight, not even Nintendo

@@flyingplantwhale545 call of duty has done the same thing with their remasters. Cod4 remastered redid basically everything, but still follows the original mechanically beat for beat. Remaster & remake are loose terms with no concrete prerequisites. The only common differentiating trend is remasters tend to keep the game functionally identical (outside of minor QoL like new controls, customization, character/weapon rebalancing) whereas when they expand, substantially change and add additional gameplay related content (such as the new dead space remake or resident evil 2 - 4 remakes) they tend to use the term remake. So in short, it makes sense for nintendo to call this a remaster as opposed to remake, but there are devs that treat the terms as interchangable which is also fine because its never been explicitly defined (unless you count internet debates :P, but even those never settled on a consistent definition)

My dad bought me prime with the GameCube bundle still have it to this day one of my most beloved memories.

Never really played Metroid as a kid. I missed out on it as a kid despite having the Gamecube, but after playing Dread and loving it I immediately preordered the physical. So excited to finally give this a try 🥳

This is insane. I've been waiting for this for so long.

Man, our girl, Samus, is getting the attention she deserves! A new Side-scroller, a new Prime game, and a proper looking remaster! Eat well, Metroid fans!

Playing this game back in the day was insane with practically no loading. It just oozed style and ambiance. I felt like I was in the suit myself. So looking forward to this!

Thank you all involved for this amazing game. Real effort was put into every aspect of this remarkable title to update for the Switch release and it’s all incredibly worthwhile. It’s beautiful and the shadow drop was perfect too. This should be considered standard-setting for how a remaster should be done. I love it.

Prime and Fusion were my introductions to Metroid years ago. This remaster looks absolutely beautiful, well done Nintendo 👏

One of the greatest games of all time. Finally remastered. Thank you, Nintendo. Please give us Prime 2 and 3 when you’re ready.

Won't be while 2024 that Metroid Prime 2 echoes and well for Metroid Prime 3 that's going to be around 2027, originally came out on Wii the third game as the second game along with the first on GameCube.

Haven’t played a Metroid game before Dread and I got to say I love that Nintendo is showing this franchise some love. I can’t wait to try out this game that I know I will love

For real, super happy about this! I don't usually play first person games or shooty games, but I picked up Metroid Prime out of curiosity some years ago, and it's SO GOOD. Must have this, it looks gorgeous!

I can't believe it finally happened 😭🙌 I hope 2 and 3 are soon to follow

@@FilmTrekk True, it IS a cash grab, but its a remaster instead of a rerelease of a 3d series, so that's kind of expected. The upside of Nintendo has always been that if you aren't a fan of every IP they own, your only going to pay triple/AAA price for a few games. Playstation and XBOX have a far more vast range of IP's with high definition and good at getting cheap at the right time. The difference between Nintendo and modern Disney in its movie industry is with Nintendo, you actually get the quality of pure fun and nostalgia your paying for most of the time.

I’m blown away that, even with all of the incredible upgrades they’ve made to a game that was already nearly perfect, it still only costs $40. Buy it! Let them know that we want more!

I dream of Metroid Prime 4

The music in this is just amazing

So excited! Prime made me the Metroid fan I am now. Can't wait to experience the atmosphere and music in this game again.

This is so awesome to see this come back. I still have the original copy on GC. Such a awesome series by Retro. Really look forward to see what they have in MP4.

the vague memories of playing this on my dads gamecube when he had it for like a couple months as a 3 year old is a feeling i never knew how to feel about. now i can clearly experience and remember it this time as a 21 year old :)

I really wanted to play these games on the Switch for so long. I had played the original Metroid games, but never the Prime series so this is much appreciated!

Unreal. I was just thinking of this game yesterday hoping we would one day see a remaster.

-Actual Graphical Enchancements -High Resolution at 60fps -Gameplay and Quality of Life improvements. -Modernized Control layouts, while still offering the og style -Somehow the only remaster Nintendo done that isn't beild sold at full price. Absolutely Perfect.

Hope we get remasters of 2 & 3 soon!!!!

That's the Retro difference baby! A gorgeous looking game that also runs at a constant 60 fps on the Switch. Retro knows how to utilize the best of every console they make games on.
