Thanks for helping me decide and making this fun! I like my Zugu case for it iPad fall protection (my arthritic hands drop it weekly), versatility, ease of cleanup, and that it gave great years of service for my current iPad. With my newest iPad on the way, I was ruminating between the Otterbox and Zugu. You explain and demonstrate their features succinctly and clearly, making it easy for this little old lady to buy Zugu again. As my grown children would say, you rock!

Thank you so much for the awesome videos ATG, I am choosing now, and you are very very helpul. The Metropolis debacle was interisting. Glad they have the one with the actual holder where the UAG does not stay flapped shut with pencil charging, which is crazy they would not consider that in testing. THEY SHOULD HAVE CONSULTED YOU FIRST! I have chosen your winner here for my iPad Pro 11! Thanks again for the great videos. I do apprreciate the back MFLining, as when removed after a couple years, the case does scratch the iPad from dust collection, etc...

Agree with you on the Zugu for the win. I have one for my 10.5. There are some reports of the gen 2 pencil discharging if left connected to the iPad. Best way I've seen with either generation of pencil to ensure long battery retention is when done with the pencil, briefly airplane mode the device, which will disconnect the pencil. Then the Zugu is perfect if you use the rear pencil pouch to carry the pencil around (more secure too) and just reconnect the pencil again using the side connection when ready to use it. One thing to note with these and especially the Zugu with it's one piece front cover--when in stand mode the microfiber is on the bottom and will pick up grit etc. from your surface. Sand particles can scratch the bare screen or screen protector, so always be sure to wipe off the microfiber lining. Some folks carry microfiber towels or whatever to rest these case stands on for added protection if you are worried about it. Vid liked. Good job.

Im just missing the comparison between the possible viewing/typing angles displayed bei side view, because the camera from front can‘t show this properly. I like the design of the UAG best, but the zugu seems to have the better angle-possibilies, especialy for typing. If nothing better shows up the next weeks, I‘ll likely go with zugu. I've had the UAG case since Nov 2017. One thing i do not like about it is that the grooves to make the iPad stand are not very deep so it falls down way too easily. It has now served its purpose, and it's time to replace it due to wear and tear over the years. I'm getting the Zugu.

Great video loaded with useful information. One question, right at the 3 minute mark you remove your iPad from the ZUGU case and made doing so look pretty simple. I’m asking about this aspect of the case because I may not want to keep my new iPad Pro in its case at all times but don’t want to struggle putting it in or taking it out, and perhaps more to the point, I don’t want to risk damaging my iPad if removing / replacing its case can cause any undue strain (iPad bending or warping). Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Hey! I'm stuck between the Otterbox and ZUGU. I'm in college so I need to use it for notes, projects for graphic design too. I was wondering if the Otterbox will wear if using the lowest setting the most and if it's strong enough to stabilize your hand when writing on the screen (like does it push&bounce when writing or is it nice and stable).

Oppy Poy fall out?! I’ve been using it for a couple of years and it has never fallen out. Not even close. It fits very snug. And it has really great magnets. You can stick it on the fridge and watch videos while you’re cooking

🤙🏻Do you find that you actually use the 7 viewing angles much ?

I'm a big fan of Zugu. Only case I'll for any of the iPads (Pro and Mini) I've owned over the years. Rocking a blue Zugu on my 2018 11" Pro right now. My only minor gripe is that I wish the tab for opening the cover was about a half inch bigger. That would make it a lot easier to open the case.

I take my iPad Mini out of the Moshi Versa Cover on a regular basis (100 times/year) to attach it to my car mount. How easy is it to remove the iPad from the Zugu case & do you think that the attachment points are robust enough to endure this type of use over time? I ask as the Moshi faired well considering "years" of use - but the camera corner cracked open & needed some tape to keep it in tact.

What are your thoughts on the zugu case for a child? They sometimes leave their back pack on the floor which can be stepped on sometimes. Zugu or is there something else that may be safer? Great videos. I subscribed. Thanks Average Tech Guy!

I’ve had a Zulu muse for 2 years. It held up fairly well, it gets a lot of use but it’s very worn. Frayed edges and the magnet fell out so doesn’t stand well. I need a new one for my 2020 on the way. I think I prefer the otter box from previous use. To quote an old an old Volvo commercial, “it’s boxy but it’s good.”

Could you compare Apple Pencil charging time in Zugu vs Otterbox? I read that it needs way more.

Does the zugu case also hold the flap at the back magnetically the way the OtterBox one does ?

The Zugu does it for me. The viewing angles an magnetic grooves did it for me. Edit: I went with Ztotop case, it’s almost identical to the zugu, except the Apple Pencil is completely protected on the inside of the cover.

I bought the Ztotop case as well and although it is really nice, the sharp(er) lip that your hands run into is annoying. If Zugu would only have a place for the Apple Pencil inside the case it would the clear winner.

I just got this Zugu case, it’s a little filmsy on the pencil border but that’s the only down side on it.

Thank you for putting so much effort into giving us the most detailled comparisons. I appreciate that you talked about the bending issue. It is not like we want to bend iPads but to protect them from bending. I wouldn‘t trust my iPad not to bend without a case in my backpack in let’s say an overcrowded bus/train. One sharp curve and the guy next to me leaning/„falling“ onto me and I can experience what it‘s like to have a curved display(I really don‘t want to obviously). I usually have my laptop with me which serves as a flat supportive for the iPad. It would be nice to know that it could survive on its own, without further support, though. That said, a „how much does each case flex/how much force is needed“-comparison would be super awesome!

None of the cases will bend under normal circumstance. Any grown man can bend it yes. But it actually take effort to do.

Agree with Rene’s point, case should add extra protection for bending, enough to protect the tablet while in a backpack (anything else is irrelevant, as it’s not a strong metal case)

It might have taken ZUGU awhile to finally get it out there, but at least it wasnt rushed out like UAG and some other case companies that did and had to come out with the most ridiculous design and literally did not put any thoughts into it. ZUGU ftw all the way.

I bought UB pro with pencil charging and it's on the way. If the case isn't that great, I would definitely go for zugu case. Thanks for comparison video!

I have the targus versa vu and I love the soft material feel. The only downside is it doesn't turn on when I open it.

Does anybody know how is the cooling ability of the zugu case ?? I use my iPad mainly for gaming for few hours period of time... I really care good protection but as the same time my device doesn’t heat up !!

Bought a Zugu and using it with the Logitech keys to go. Only wish that the material to protect the screen isn't a microfiber as it would sometimes pick up dirt and grease from the table that it's laid on which being used in kickstand mode - as the microfiber would be in full contact in the surface of the table.

Average Tech Guy (why you’re certainly more than average lol) if I would get a rugged case I would also definitely choose theZUGU,for the same reasons you outlined,and i love how many positions you’re able to view it. But my situation is different, my iPad pro 11,doesn’t live the house, I am retired,work part time from home. I have the magnetic folio,actually 2 in two different colors,just like the one at the Apple Store but about $63 cheaper. When I don’t work and it’s charging the iPad i in the case and a velvet pouch. When I work it’s out of the case and on a stand,so i can see this beautiful machine.lol I’m thinking i will put a translucent skin on the back,so it’s still protected, found one on Amazon. What i still didn’t find,one to my liking,a matte screen protector, i need it for sketching and drawing,coloring, can’t draw on the glass directly. I also have a very thin silicone sleeve for my Apple pencil, good for charging. I take care my gadgets 😀 Maybe you know about matte screen protectors that have just a little friction ? I tried a few,I would like glass rather than plastic, but not a big selection in matte glass the plastic films there are plenty,but most have too much friction,too harsh no smoothness at all. That’s not good either. I tried “Paperlike” it’s expensive,but that’s about all. Closer to sandpaper. If you know of something,let us know. Looking forward to your videos 🙂

First off, thx for watching and for the compliment, and the thoughtful comment... All of the cases that i have review have been pretty much one point with protection. I have had 2 types of tempered glass and both were a bust... Currently im working on finding a new one. I keep hearing about paperlike. I may try it... Ill be sure and do a video when i figure something out though...👍🏽👌🏽

The ESR sentry case is nearly identical to the ZUGU for half the price. I bought the ESR Sentry and eventually the Otterbox case because it has a fixed back

So the zugu is the best one in the end I’m glad that I did order it.

The thing I hate about the UAG case is that you can’t lock the back flap into place when using the iPad.

Thanks for the good review. Would like to see one for cases which include a keyboard as well, maybe also in comparison with the Apple Folio. (Folio being to expensive, considering that it does not protect corners, nor the pen when tossing in a backpack + the shitty angles it has, and none for drawing, which forces you to take the case off and use another when drawing, or none)

Which case is better? None of the above. If you're gonna spend the money, get the ottorbox defender. :)

Just to let you know all the cases in the vid are for either the ipad air 4 or the ipad pro 2018 11 inch.

uag has alot of ways to change the position, and also has a typing position as well

Thx for watching. I think it is a true testament to the iPad 11 that I've tried dozens of cases and no bend whatsoever. None of them are really hard to remove. I reccomend either of these three. One of these is always my daily case.

Vegan leather, corners are tough and durable, front never flaps

Just bought my iPad pro 12.9 for £1,800 with the 1TB spent just of £2000 along with the pen Zugu case and paperlike screen cover. Zugu case is amazzzzzing!!

What? The UAG has INFINITE angle adjustment. Have one. Love it.

But you really don’t discuss the angles used with the Apple Pencil. It looks like the lowest angle would still not be low enough for an adequate sketching/drawing angle for the pencil. The Muse case does not impress me yet. I would like to see a demonstration of you sketching or notetaking with it.

What about protection tho can you drop your iPad Pro in the Zugu case in confidence that it won’t break?

The Zugu Muse case is a really nice case but I'm not totally sold on it. I just don't like the fact that the microfiber lining also touches any surface that you put your iPad on. Microfiber can catch dust and micro debris that when you close the cover, the potential of micro scratches is there. I use a tempered glass screen protector, so I don't have to worry but some people might not have one. I do like the UAG Metropolis cover design better because the screen side of the cover does not touch any surface except the screen, but unfortunately, it does not have enough angles. The consumer needs to pick which one is more important to them ;) So, if Zugu can solve that small design flaw of the Muse they would corner the iPad Pro market!

I can never understand why reviewers never mention whether the screen cover sticks to the back. Or what it's like to hold when the screen cover is back. I hate a case where the cover just flaps about. If the screen cover sticks to the back without flapping. Thats a massive bonus.

I’m also the proud owner of this case. The best case hands down.

is the ipad safe from bending in that case?? like if I were to have it in my backpack and I leaned up against a wall with my iPad in the zugu case, will it be safe??
