ZUGU ftw. Strong magnets, more pencil holder option, premium look and feel.

Love the grippy yet smooth texture of the UAG on my 12.9. Also love the way the magnet strap secures the front flap when closed.

A couple more to review, just to let you know

I have been using the UAG for a week now and it’s awesome

I think one disadvantage of the Zugu is that the flap that makes contact with the screen (when closed) is the same surface that makes contact with the table (floor etc) when using the tablet. It will get dirty and may pickup something rough that might scratch the screen

Oh I was definitely aware the minute I placed my iPad in this case and started using it. So am using a microfiber towel on whatever surface I'm using my iPad on. It's inconvenient at times for sure but I don't want to scratch my screen, you know what I'm saying! Your comment was great because many may not think of that!

I just got the Zugu - it's the best. I've tried SO MANY... this has BIG usb C port opening that has no problems with my big hub, pencil is easy to pick up, angles and strength.. the DETAILS... OMG.. it's so good.

I had the UAG tablet on my last iPad and I loved it. Towards the end though, the flap that comes around the front to act as the cover became loose. It kept falling out. Also, I don’t like how it leaves the side exposed so it can support the apple keyboard. Other than that it was great for the 2nd gen. But I bought the Muse case for my third gen because of the Apple Pencil support. The UAG case just doesn’t work for the third gen to me. It still leaves that side exposed and it doesn’t support the apple pen enough. I like the Muse case better because of the Pencil pocket. Plus, the Muse Case is cheaper, about 25 bucks, and has a really strong magnet to hang on the refrigerator or a metal surface. The flap on the UAG case can really get in the way while the magnet backing on the Muse case is incredibly sturdy. For 2nd gen you cant lose, both are good. But for third gen I would go with the Muse.

How do you not have more subscribers. You have been very helpful. I think I am going to get the ZUGU Muse.

i totally understand how you feel about the UAG case and the apple pencil. I have lost one apple pencil because of this.

I own the ZUGU. I like it in general. Probably the best case I’ve personally seen. I like the case first and foremost. Improvements could be made. I don’t like that the flap that sits on the table also rests against the screen when closed. A gap would have been nice. I sense that the pencil tip will eventually poke a hole against the pocket stretchy material. When stored in the pocket the area where the tips rests puts pressure on the material. That area should have been reinforced. I wish they provided a mini pocket for the annoying adaptor jack I have to carry around to plug in my earbuds. The buttons all work nice and the pencil charges as soon as it’s placed in the edge holder. Conclusion: I’d buy this case over any I’ve seen.

Bought UAG wish wish wish I did some research. Zugu case looks great with those angles, would you say the UAG cases notches are solid enough to draw with? I'm a graphics designer and wanted a case to make my 12.9 a bit sturdier in my backpack as I've heard they've got a tendency to bend. Fingers crossed the UAG will be good enough, or I'm getting the zugu as well, write it off on tax... sadness and buyers regret atm though. I normally use my ipad flat on the table so it might be alright for that

iPad Mini 5 current setup: UAG Metropolis (Front flap cut off) + TFY 3 point strap on back. Possible iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 4 / 2020 setup: Going to try the same thing (bought 2 point strap, but tracking down a 3 point, but a little harder to find at this size. On some rando website - not Amazon - I’ll try out maybe). But now worried about subtle bending over time as it’s bigger & the UAG back is more bendy than the Zugu. But maybe unlikely as I won’t one hand the 12.9 upside down as I read on my back like the Mini. PS The mini never bends in this setup as it’s just so much smaller. 12.9 will be just for some occasional lap comic/magazine reading & on a lectern for standing drawing/graphic design. Although I may do my 1 comic/1mag a day eye/brain/design training standing too. (I can’t sit at desks anymore - from an injury). The mini is really my lye down and chill out device. Tried it with an Air 4 for a couple of days, but awkward & face droppy. Although, if I ever get an 11Pro in future years to complete the Back/Lap/Desk (Mini/iPad standard or Air or 11/12.9) size combo, I’ll def try that mid size iPad on back with a 3 point strap. Might be great. If it doesn’t also overstrain wrist. Mini is perfect for back. A1. I don’t want a front flap. These will never leave the house. I use phone for that. At night I sit iPad face down on regularly changed soft cloth to get less dust falling on screen (wouldn’t be an issue with front flaps on, but fronts get in my way). I use regularly changed/washed microfibre cloths to clean and use clear Screen Protectors. Only thing that can go really wrong is a drop on the screen on an uneven surface. Even with a front flap, this is a risk when it’s open & I only use them in one room. I use iPhone & TV in lounge room (maybe occasionally the mini, but I hate walking around with iPads - makes me nervous. Lol. They are my “Macs” now. No laptops anymore. The Zugu looks stronger at the back. But if I cut off that back stand too, maybe not so much. I wish someone made one with a thick / rigid almost honeycomb inner architecture as the back. Putting a hand strap or 2 on the back of that would rock. Super solid. No way strap could slowly bend device like that. I suspect once I setup the 12.9 with the UAG & strap, I’ll forget all about this over thinking. Lol. Cause on the mini, that combo is perfection. Slim, solid bumpers, good grip and even the strap plastic coated metal hands grab onto edges / corners well. Maybe later I’ll buy the Zugu - cut off front flap & glue/tape the back stand down so it’s almost like the super rigid back case of my dreams. Lol. If anyone knows of a super rigid back case for a 12.9 let me know. Maybe I’ll also try one of those rigid looking tanks with a mechanical spinning hand holder at the back. I’ll see. But for the mini, my current combo is perfect. (Would be even better with a 4 point strap). Somebody invent & hand make & sell it on Etsy please. I’ll buy one. Lol. Couldn’t be bothered to do it myself. Lol.

I’m not sure which one i will get, my ipad has a skin and a paper like screen protector I’m wondering if that will keep it from fitting, also in the Zugu assuming the case will fit but will the Pencil still charge

Thank you for your informative and well done videos. However, I agree the the comment below, regarding the flap that protects the screen of my $1k iPad Pro. I have purchased and returned 4 cases. 2 of them had similar designs that would most likely damage the screen. I don’t understand the engineering that would produce such a design. I am leaning toward the second version of the UAG Metropolis. The yet to be released NEW Targus VersaVue case, that supports Apple pencil charging might be a winner. I’ll wait for it to be released prior to Making a decision.

I agree; I’d prefer the Zugu. UAG makes great products but I feel it fails a little bit for the case.

And that Amazon.com’s one don’t ship it to canada. :( But they might sell it soon on amazon.ca hopefully. I am so tired of waiting for Defender and their case is so expensive. I am glad UB pro made one with pencil! Thanks a lot again you really made my day even if I can’t buy it yet.

Fantastic! I had the UAG for my 10.5 iPad Pro and although it was great, I found it was a tad heavy...is the ZUGU lighter? It's the one I'm thinking of buying for my new 11 inch one...

Based on the specs online the UAG is as tad lighter. But then again the specs for the most recent Zugu haven’t been released yet so I’m comparing last year’s

I bought the Muse. It’s superior. The folded back microsoft surface that interfaces with the screen then sits on a table is minor.

That's a good point. I think if I used it on a table I wouldn't fold it behind and just keep the flap out so not to get any dust or dirt on it after closing. Thanks

Joey NoLegs i was contemplating doing what Thomas Rainbow mentioned... I use mine predominately in the kitchen around food and small children so surfaces are NEVER clean unless I wipe them first, which gets tedious and eventually I’ll set it down and get that microfiber inside greasy or gross. just wondering how sturdy the kickstand would be without the magnetic support and grooves. Can you comment?

Megan Tanju not. Not sturdy at all without support. I took mine to Europe and used it with the iPad traveling throughout Europe on trains hotels museums everywhere and worked great but you need to use the kickstand if you wanna prop it up.

I use my ipad on the train and I'm wondering if in the Zugu case, you can fold the flap behind the case with the pencil still in the holder. Does the pencil get in the way of the front cover?

To be honest i think if you put the weight of a full person on and of the cases i review the ipad would bend. Cases are made to protect from falls off tables, dropping a backpack, hitting the corner of the wall. Please remember this ipad has an aluminium frame

Thomas Rainbow I have it full time on my iPad now. U really don’t notice. It’s great.

A bit biased, The pencil is a little less protected, on the Zugu case you have no protection in charge mode, in fact you could easily loose the pencil, there is literally no protection in charge mode, the UAG pencil site is not brilliant but it is better protected in charge mode.

Can we see a comparison of the zugu case and the soke equivalent version?

Do the magnets wear out and if so how long should I expect them to function

Zugu is legit. UAG is cheesy feeling and goofy looking to me. I have owned both and zugu never gets returned.

Both cases are coronavirus catchers. You need to disinfect the front and back portions of the case because thats where the virus is likely to inhabit.

What about Ayotu case？Do you konw it?

Both this case are awsome with great protections, you are right Zugu case are more protected compared on UAG... but for me this cases are only good for light to moderate use meaning for me it is designed for officee and everyday use,, no offense i like this cases and will defenitely buy one of this soon prefferably the Zugu case... but doin kind of my thing like travelling and hiking a lot with my ipadpro 12.9 especially in a bumpy , i need more compact case that will surely protect my ipad from bending or any scratches when accidentaly drop, so i preffer to buy first the Defender case or for the cheaper price the Supcase for more protection so from that case i'm defenitely will have peace of mind....
