About 7-8years ago, a HUGE wind storm passed threw. Neighbor came over & said a nest of Backyard Squirrel nest got knocked outta the tall pine tree. They left them there for a couple hours to see if mum would come get them. They went outside to hear what sounded like barking, just to realize it was 2 baby squirrels. Mum was never to be found. I was called ! Went over to inspect the situation. 2 male squirrel pups. Less than a week old with eyes & ears closed, pink with peach fuzz hair, & umbilical still attached. I took them in. As they grew, they also grew into a cage, like the one you have in the video. Each has their own personality ! Love, determination, devotion, patients, & tenaciousness in me gave them a chance to survive ! Talk about goofballs ! Very playful ! My cats just loved to play with them ! Cage was transferred to the outside for rehabilitation. At 2 years of age, they were released out in the woods out by my farm. It hurt my heart doing what I did, but deep down I knew it was the right thing to do. They both found themselves back home again. They lay on my lap outside on my porch for awhile then they're off again ! Their names are Tedda & Buddy.

Love dozer he’s such a good dog. I just saw the video announcing that he has cancer. So sad...

I wish I had a vet clinic like this one near where I live. Whenever I have an injured or sick rodent I'm very reluctant to take them to any vet close enough to drive to because they always claim doing an sort of operation on a small animal is too risky, and put all my animals down instead. Whereas vet ranch will do eye surgery on a hedgehog... If I sneezed in the waiting room, my pet's vet would tell me they'd have to euthanize me.

Rude of them. My dad's girlfriend took her rat that had a lump on it's face to the vet when she was little, and the vet did surgery.. (reluctantly..) And the rat lived for around five more years! A VERY long rat life! (:

You can tell this guy really loves animals and really passionate about his job. On KZread we only see these kind of vets but in real life there's a lot of them that are only in it for the money.. Once i found a small lactating dog on the side of the road. I didn't know what was wrong with her but she was stiff as a board and panting really hard. I took her home and called everywhere i could in the middle of the night. Finally i found an Emergency Vet clinic open and took her there. I'm sure the vet knew instantly what was wrong with her but didn't come to treat her for over 15 minutes and there was no other animals in the clinic at the time! It turned out the dog was extremely dehydrated and it had something to do with the fact that she was lactating too. She got infusion to take care of the dehydration and that took care of her. Later it dawned on me how much pain she must have been in. I know i used to wake up at night in agony when i get a cramp in my leg (from dehydration), and this little dog's whole body was stiff from cramps. She couldn't move anything other than her eyes. The point is that the vet let her suffer for 15 minutes knowing the agony she is in, instead of giving her the infusion immediately. That really pissed me off, beside he billed me 220 dollars. That vet was heartless :-( Sorry about the venting...

MELEDITH L. $220 for an infusion is on the cheaper end of things. And emergency infusions aren't automatically generated. Within the 15 minutes, the vet was more than likely preparing the medicine (which had to be measured as close to perfection as possible, or else it could've hurt her), and maybe possibly reviewing her symptoms to validate whether he/she would have another diagnosis for the dog.

Honestly makes me happy seeing you with your family you're a good man

Your wife is such a lucky woman. You're a sweetheart of a guy AND you love helping animals. Those squirrels are precious!

I hate to think what happened to their mother, but just glad they were rescued by caring people.

He put so much thought and care into that amazing cage. And I just wanna point out that he has the sweetest dog. Most dogs would try to eat the squirrels not give them kisses. And I loved the last scene with them going back-and-forth stealing the strawberry. It reminded me of me and my sisters. I had it first. No I had it first. No it’s mine

I originally thought he just did the gun videos which are quite entertaining and absolutely hilarious but I found this channel and absolutely love it. It is so great to see a firearms enthusiast that not only respects but cares for animals.

What a wonderful caring man he is. Took good care of 4 squirrel since day 1 , bottle fed, made a safe enclosure until squirrels were young enough to climb branches. You are owesome. Thank you for the care & the vidio !!!

Connecticut wildlife rehabber here for DEP thank you for helping the sweetest little babies ever! It's not easy sometimes I have 20 at a time , gray squirrel babies eat milk every 2 hours...it's not only exhausting for 1 human mom but very expensive along with other rescues. Happy day when they eat whole foods zzz Love it anyway

Being from Michigan & with 9 mature oak trees & 12 evergreens in our backyard we love squirrels! They nest in some of our oak trees for the winter. Lots of chipmunk friends. One chipmunk family burrowed under our back patio door and live there. No problem. Watching them eat is so much fun. We feed them whole peanuts & baby carrots.

Matt is one the best person I've ever seen. He is an expert of weapons, he has a very good and united familiy, I can see that his children can be anything but spoiled children, a very good part to see it is around minute 2:20, when the big sister hugs Lincoln when crying. And he has a foundation for saving ill animals and give them in adoption with no money purpouses. Really good.

Has anyone else noticed how well mannered his dog is? Like seriously it’s nice to these baby squirrels, random sick dogs, small kittens. Like how did he get ahold of a dog that’s as gentle as him?

So just stumbled on this, did not know Demo-Ranch was a vet, VERY impressive. When I was a kid of 12 or 13, we used to catch & raise flying squirrels in Summerville SC. All wildlife is precious.

I so enjoyed this video. I live in Michigan, and rescued a baby squirrel that had fallen out of nest in a bad rainstorm and bottle fed her as well. Researched the best diet...lots of fruits and veggies. Her name was Herba. Sadly Herbs only lived a year. Was fine in the morning one day, found her dead in her cage(much like the one you showed here),by afternoon . very sad. But I will never forget her.

Aww how sweet was Dozer sniffing and licking the baby squirrel! So gentle!

My grandpa was adopted by a squirrel and it stayed with him for two years before leaving again :D

Awww, THAT brought back MANY memories!! I co-founded a wildlife organization when I was just 17, (I had volunteered, then worked for a vet since 12 & ALWAYS got the squirrels!). I became known as "the squirrel lady", and my own kids were brought up around lots of baby critters. Unfortunately, 3 kids and a medical career with humans, as well as moving several states away, put a halt to most of my wild animal adventures,...except for the first 2 years working PT at a "zoo"-it was actually more like a retirement home for both circus, unwanted zoo animals, and confiscated exotic pets-most of which were being abused or neglected, (that "cute", harmless lil tiger cub isn't QUITE as "cute" or harmless, a few hundred pounds later!). I'm actually moving back down there next year, and seeing that I'm now disabled, mainly housebound-I'll be back in touch with my friends who now run the wildlife org!!

Just one remark: Tigers are always cute, no matter the age. Always. But they're definitely not very good pets when grown up ^^ i don't understand why people do this.

I would love to have these as pets to roam free but come and go as they please. It would be so interesting to watch. They were so cute when sleeping.

Your dog is probably the nicest to ALL the animals that come in!!

I did the same thing in the suburbs of Atlanta,nursed them to they were ready to leave the cage,it was a great experience gave us a lot of joy!It was great that you did this for these orphaned squirrels,you are good man!
