The best thing about most animals is they're fairly independent a few months after they're born.

This is what happens folks. People get a pet without giving thought to it's care. They don't spay or neuter, pet gets pregnant, they can't cope & turn it loose. Puppies die all the time from no more than worms & fleas. Please adopt don't shop & don't get one if you can't afford it. The saddest thing I hear is "we got it for the kids". Watching a pet you have come to love get sick & die is horrible. Show kids that sometimes things need to wait. Take them to a shelter & volunteer. I have taken too many pets that were brought in for "convenience" euthanasia, spent more than I should & loved every minute with each one. I'll have many friends waiting for me at the rainbow bridge!

I'll teach him all I know while I can, he's always had animal sisters & brothers. Yes, it's hard to lose them but the love they give us makes it all worth it. I pray you will have lots of gr8 friends in your life! Have a wonderful day!

WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN Here's the surprising answer of a 6 year old child. Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs' lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.” Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live. He said, ”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued, ”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.” Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: • When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them. • Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. • Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy. • Take naps. • Stretch before rising. • Run, romp, and play daily. • Thrive on attention and let people touch you. • Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. • On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. • On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. • When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body. • Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. • Be faithful. • Never pretend to be something you’re not. • If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. • When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently. When he said she had erlichia a feeling of absolute dread came over me. I had a feeling that she would'nt survive and that the video would show us him putting her down. I am glad it was not the case. I had a weimaraner pup who died because of erlichia. Sadly we found out too late into it and despite the multiple visits to the vet and the many efforts to save her she ended up dying. I was heartbroken, i'm happy this dog didn't share the same fate. I hope she finds a loving home soon

I totally get it I am the complete opposite though. I am going in to be a trauma surgeon and be a paramedic during University. So I love watching surgeries. Although animal surgeries do get to me. I just prefer animals more over humans.

I don’t think the plan was to burn the fleas off, they likely tried to use some sort of flea shampoo or something like that and it just negatively reacted with her skin. I don’t think it was intentional.

It's a really silly old wives tale that you can "suffocate" ticks with kerosine and they will just back out and drop off... Unfortunately there is a lot of really damaging "home remedies" and "natural remedies" that can be extremely dangerous to animals, but people would rather listen to a random person on the internet rather than seeing their vet.

On Pitbulls and Parolees, Tia says that's usually a sunburn on dark or black haired dogs. Often because they're tied up somewhere without any protection from the sun. It's very wet and bumpy looking when it's fresh or just like this dog when they're drying up a bit after some time out of the sun. Just another possibility ... Thanks for all the great work you do!!!
