On This Day 50 Years Ago -- Paint Your Wagon movie release

Ойын-сауық

It is a little hard to believe that Paint Your Wagon was released half a century ago! It just doesn't seem like something that dated. But Happy 50th Anniversary Paint Your Wagon!

Heard of but never saw the movie. Always assumed it was like Oklahoma. Cool stove! Prolly going to need it. Sposed to be a cold one!

Hey Terry! No, it's very different from Oklahoma. Depending on how you feel towards "old" movies it is well worth a watch if you can find a copy or I suppose stream it. Glad you like the stove. What isn't evident in the video is that I am slowly being cooked alive by that stove. Sitting that close to it is visually appealing, but a little warmed than I care for.

Saw this movie in its first release - 70mm 6 track stereo - it was a marvelous experience. It doesn't survive critical watching and the skill of suspending disbelief is required. Doesn't play well on home viewing, it just doesn't have the required screen or sound.

I suppose the theater experience would be exceptional. I saw it last at home, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hey Paul! I’d been wondering why I hadn’t seen any posts from you in a while...well, somehow I’d unsubscribed to all the folks I was following! At any rate, it’s good to see you again and as always, I’ll be looking forward to future posts! By the way, I’m glad to see you relocated unscathed!

There have been weird things happening with KZread and I often can't make any sense of what is happening. Just glad you're back! Yeah,. we're home now, and trying to make some new videos.

I recall reading something while researching this that one or more of the songs from the movie had been successful on the charts in the UK. That is very cool. Thanks!

Back in the day every big movie star sang in at least one musical - Brando did it in Guys & Dolls and even Clint Eastwood sang in Paint Your Wagon - I'd like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger sing in a musical LOL

Certainly in the late 50s and through the 60s it was pretty common for stars to do sort of a quasi-obligatory musical, but then at that time most successful actors and actresses were trained in singing, dancing and often one or more musical instruments. It seemed to me at least that a "performer" sort of was expected to have all of the most common tools of the trade at their disposal.

It certainly was a different time - actors and actresses were expected to be good at acting, singing and dancing - nowadays there are famous stars who can't do any of that at all LOL
