Oculomotor Exercises - Vertigo and Concussion Symptoms

Oculomotor Exercises - Vertigo and Concussion symptoms - These targeted movements can be particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from vertigo, concussion symptoms, or cervicogenic dizziness, which is dizziness or vertigo originating from the cervical spine. You may have experienced these symptoms following a traumatic event such as a motor vehicle accident, sports injury, micro trauma or another unknown cause.
When it comes to the frequency of performing oculomotor exercises, it's essential to tailor your approach based on your specific needs and the guidance of a healthcare professional, such as a physiotherapist or vestibular rehabilitation specialist. In general, oculomotor exercises may be recommended anywhere from daily to several times a week, depending on the severity of your symptoms and your individual progress.
Note: Exacerbation of neck pain or increased headache is not acceptable when performing these exercises. Increased dizziness is normal when performing these exercises and is considered
acceptable.

    Thank you for reaching out, @Drvm614. It's very encouraging to hear that oculomotor exercises have been helpful for you after your accident. Indeed, these exercises can be beneficial for many people recovering from visual and vestibular symptoms. It's important to personalize any exercise regimen based on individual circumstances, so I would suggest discussing this with your physician to ensure it's appropriate for your specific condition. I'm glad you've found something that contributes positively to your recovery.

    Hello @sunshinegirl, Thank you for reaching out and for your kind words about the video. I'm really glad you found it valuable. I would love to provide more personalized guidance, but it's important to note that without a physical examination, I can't offer specific medical advice. Headaches following oculomotor exercises can occur for a variety of reasons and it's best evaluated in person by a healthcare professional. If you're experiencing discomfort, I highly recommend consulting with a practitioner who can assess your individual situation.

    how long (on average) post concussion will someone stop having nsystagmus following a pen to the peripheral?

  • @kinetichealthonline

    @kinetichealthonline

    2 ай бұрын

    Hello @TomCTHC, thank you for your question. The duration of nystagmus post-concussion can vary widely depending on the severity of the injury and individual healing processes. Typically, nystagmus resulting from concussion resolves as the brain recovers, but this can take anywhere from a few days to several months. If nystagmus persists or is accompanied by other symptoms like dizziness or balance issues, it's important to seek professional medical evaluation to ensure appropriate management and rehabilitation. Always ensure that any continued symptoms following a concussion are closely monitored by healthcare professionals. Thank you for engaging with our content!

    I had an accident being thrown on the ground by a grown man who has martial art skills. I’m only 15, a female, already have neck problems. At first i was so scared… the first day i had room-spinning vertigo and after that i felt like the floor was moving. I first tought it was my brain but my doctor, chiropractor felt that it was coming from my neck. Ever since the ‘whiplash’ my neck muscles are WAY MORE TENSE!!! I always had tense muscles but this made it 10 time worse. I now have an anxiety dissorder developed because i can’t live normally anymore:(. Please tell me how long it will take to heal? I go to a chiropractor every 2 weeks.

    Hi, I truly sympathize with your situation, but unfortunately, I'm unable to provide a precise evaluation or prognosis without conducting a physical examination. If you're finding that your current treatment isn't giving you the relief you need, it could be beneficial to seek a second opinion from another medical practitioner, particularly since your symptoms persist. Remember, the demonstrations provided in the videos aren't meant to replace personalized medical advice. Please continue to communicate with your healthcare providers about your concerns. Your wellbeing is of utmost importance. Best wishes on your journey to recovery.

    Hello, Without the ability to conduct a personal and thorough physical examination, it's not within my capacity to provide detailed advice. Given that you're experiencing headaches and have a recent history of a mild concussion, I strongly encourage you to seek immediate medical attention from a local healthcare provider. They will be able to evaluate your condition properly and guide you on the appropriate steps to take. Stay safe and take care.

    That would depend on the case, I can not make comments on specific cases without a physical examination. That being said we would often have our patients Patients perform exercises four to five times daily for a total of 20-40 minutes/day, in addition to 20 minutes of balance and gait exercises. Rehabilitation takes time. Cheers!

    Hello @marthapineda9849, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your situation. I'm glad that my videos are offering you some guidance. It’s important to note that while I strive to provide helpful information, I cannot offer specific medical advice or diagnoses without a proper physical examination. Each individual's situation is unique, and it's crucial to have personalized care from a healthcare professional who can assess your condition directly. It seems you might have concerns about your current care. If possible, I recommend seeking a second opinion to address your concerns. A trusted healthcare provider should be able to advise you on the necessity of certain treatments or referrals, such as orthopedic consultations, based on thorough evaluation.
