One of the things that I love about the new captain America movies is that they gave a reason to his costume. It was flashy and over the top because he needed to be flashy and over the top in order to sell war bounds and raise people's spirit. But still if I was a Nazi and saw someone dressed up like that on the battlefield I'd die laughing.

Maks Y That was a Monty Python sketch. A joke so funny you could die laughing, so they translated it into German and used it in battle.

Me; I think this movie is the reason I wasn't looking forward to the re-make. I was pretty young when I watched this, and never watched it again. I now find myself wishing they had used Chuck Norris for the role, but then I remember how badly this was executed and am grateful they didn't.

+Malefizia haha... I don't think it's racist of Americans. I think it's more "Nationalist". I'm an American and I'll agree; Americans, for the most part, are *really* proud to be Americans. I don't really get it, and I was a teenager when 9/11 happened. That was like, the most annoying time to be here. Everybody was sucking America's dick; I mean the Americans *themselves*! It's super funny that you'd say John Wayne! I guess that makes sense. He's as American as you can get; other than Clint Eastwood. lol. As I understand it, Germans hate it when anyone talks about Hitler; seems to make them uncomfortable. Just like Americans get uncomfortable when someone brings up the wars in Iraq... They needed to be liberated, dammit!!!!

It would sadly take over 20 years for this story to handled better. The first film told his origin story better (though sadly it was missing the comedic 'Sike Hitler') but actually had the Captain kicking ass and it developed the relationship with his love interest with Agent Carter a lot better. Then the second film handled his pre-thaw our story better. Especially when it came to him visiting his old girlfriend. Fun fact, the actor playing Captain America in this film is Matt Salinger, who is the son of noted author J.D. Salinger. Speaking of which: J.D. Salinger's first wife (not Matt's mother) was supposedly a Nazi. She was at the very least German born and had relatives who were soldiers in the German army.

Being a German, I love the German phrases that are said by the evil nazi scientists when they talk about the red monster rat: "Auf eine Art und Weise verwendet Lffff eine Erfindung, es ist sehr seltenes, zwei Babmmm..", which definitely can't be translated as the subtitles do. In English, it'd rather be: "In a way, Lfff uses an invention, it's very rare, two babmm."

In X-Men: Days of Future Past they actually say that Magneto had a hand in the assassination of JFK because, "How else would you explain a bullet miraculously curving through the air?" superman as a person does not exist in their universe. what makes you think he couldn't exist in a comic- much like in reality? he doesn't exist in real life, yet he is mentioned quite often, don't you think?

+r3v4n21 dont worry, you re not supposed to understand anything, they are supposed to sound as awefull as possible, americans rarely speak any german, so they dont care either. plus to them we all sound awefully russian, just like they sound like a mix of john wayne and a man who has a hot potatoe in his mouth :P ^^ its just another one of those cute rascist clichees in american movies.

***** really?? never heard that and i AM german. whenever germans are depicted in american movies or tv shows, they have an over the top russian accent and are shown to be colthearted, mostly stupid and greedy. oh yeah and almost always the bad guys! its like showing black people stealing cars, doing drugs and shooting people, aka a rascist clichee. believe it or not, most germans speak good english. cant say the same about most americans . now can i?

Did anyone notice that the liftoff was a V2 but the inbound rocket was a V1? Awesome. Not to mention that buzz bombs were also launched from rails instead of vertical liftoff like the V2 and were very unreliable in accuracy and range. To add more craziness, the rocket not only made it from DC but reached Alaska after reaching its target and being turned back up for another ascent...utter stupidity lol.

People in movies reference their competition all the time. In Nightmare on Elm Street, the main characters tried to stay awake by watching Evil Dead. In Halloween, they watched the Thing. It's a way of saying "See? Superman is fake even in our universe, WE'RE the real super heroes!"

fun comic fact, red skull "NEVER" was a product of the super soldier process, he was just well trained in assassinations, hand to hand combat, weapons and artillary, and his face wasn't deformed, it was a mask, they called him the red skull due to a gas he'd use like a calling card, it's constrict the muscles and blood vessles in his victem's face too make the skin tones turn red, and look like a skull, hence the name "Red Skull" this movie made the now popular polar opposite super soldier

I could go on and on.

Also, Matt Salinger is the son of famous writer J.D. Salinger, the writer of ''A Catcher in the Rye''. Btw, Matt's career went NOWHERE. Big surprise...not!
