Thanks for posting. I didn't know that the Berleypro steering pulley was available as a single unit. I just installed and tried it out. What a huge difference it makes!!👍👍

@@lugge1358 hmmmm ok….

Can you show a video of how you attached it to the steering handle? That seems to cause us trouble as the red cord comes off occasionally.

@@wendyalton…. Hi there… If you use the BerleyPro original red cord, you may have trouble to keep it in that groove while assembling the steering handle. I use a waxed Dyneema cord that has the ability to stay in any form or curve you put it. So it has no reset force so to say to fall off that steering tiller. I’m not shure if that was the question. Amazon here overseas offers the utmost best steering cord ever. It’s a dyneema 1.5 mm cord from Kanirope that holds 260N Kanirope® Dyneema Seil PRO 1,5mm 100m Schwarz 12-fach geflochten SK78 verstreckt beschichtet amzn.eu/d/i9tEf7X Cheers Udo

@@wendyaltonif that was not the question but asking how to connect the cord to the steering tiller, have a look here to my Instagram channel. Scroll that post almost to it’s end (~3min left). … you have to remove the two cotter pins first… keep the cord as it is and pull a little more line out of the handle through-holes. Because the steering tiller has a given upper and lower side, it fits in just one direction … so you hold the tiller as it was from the beginning and turn it around the longitudinal axis by 180 degrees. (The wireing is crossed now). Hold that crossing point in the groove and flip the steering tiller 180 degrees backwards around the lateral axis. Now the cord is double around the foreward part and single in the back of the groove. The tillers through-hole also changed position from pointing foreword to backward. Keep a little tension all the time and install the handle again. You may do more easy to have a helping hand or you may tape the cord in the back to keep that tension. You also may have to replace the cord for a longer one. In the end it works perfect.

Well, do you have the Springblade rudder installed? If you do have the former well known rudder with the red elephant ears, it won’t work! That is because you do need the 360° groove around the rudder plate in the stern.

That little tiller is a BerleyPro rudder upgrade part. That was designed to improve the rudder travel with the former Native rudder. However, to give the old rudder that unrestricted travel we need to have a 360° grooves below the rudder plate in the stern of the boat. The Natives new springblade rudder comes with that 360° groove and gives the option. Now we are able to reroute the steering wires, a little different as shown, even with the existing steering tiller below the handle. If you do it the way I showed, and making sure that there is no slack in the wire, you will achieve a full, rudder travel to the full mechanical stop. Don’t forget to remove the two cotter pins.
