I think the fact that you put the salt in his tank as well helped him tremendously. That salt was in constant contact with him and probably helped as much as the baths.

Love your videos and personality. For anyone that doesnt know aquarium salt for fin rot¶sites and epsom salt for bloating&dropsy. They are two totally different things for complete different ailments and issues. I didnt realize this until here recently, thought id share. Either way these two types of salts are pretty much a fishes savior or go-to when it comes to fishkeeping and treating issues and diseases. They can fix so much and i always try them first before medications because it seems alot of times the medications can do more harm than good or you have a 50/50 of saving the fish. No doubt sometimes medications are necessary but should be the last resort

My angelfish has had fin rot for the last 6 months I tried salt, antibiotics, and now I might have to try gram negative antibiotics because all the others didn’t work. His tail is rotting very slowly. I’m currently putting in melafix and salt to see if that will control the rotting

Thank you so much. My poor baby is literally on his last fins. My daughter brought him home from like a carnival last year, a friend helped us set him up in a vase (I know) and when I did research I found he needed a real tank! So I got a 5 gal aquarium, API test kit, thought everything was perfect but we did something wrong with the change because within a week he was in bad shape, I never even knew fin rot was a thing. Ugh! Triaging now and appreciate the advice💔

If you can't afford the API Aquarium Salt, you can use Pickling or Kosher salt. The Pickling salt has absolutely no fillers or anti caking agents. My son's Beta had tail and fin rot really bad, so bad that the disease was down to the fin tail nub. I have had him in 7 TBSP salt to 10 gal of water, and the next day did a 30 % water change with 4 TBSP salt, and now I am monitoring his progress, he seems to be improving as his appetite is coming back. I also purchased some Catappa leaves for it's healing properties. The tannins in the leaves are released into the water, and yes, it changes the color of the water to a yellowish brown, but healing the Beta is more important than the water color when treating.

Why do they chew them? I have a lovely boy I've had since a baby and he had chewed off all they ends of his fins and then they grew back pink (he's red and blue) and he looked beautiful and three months later he shredded them again. Then they grew back and he did it again. I can't understand why he does this he's in a cycled, heated, 5 gallon.

Im going to try this for my Betta Neptune! I think he has had fin rot for a while. I got him in March and his fins were so long back then (he's a veiled tail betta) but now they're a lot shorter. He is blue and white and he used to have a white ombré looking coloration on his tail but now all the white part is gone. I don't know how fin rot hasn't already killed him if it's been there for a while?. He doesn't look terrible, he just looks a lot different than when I first got him and I didn't notice because he changed so slowly. Sorry I'm just a bit sad about him rn and wanted to talk about him.

I impulse bought my betta despite telling myself I was going to cycle his tank first. I recently sent my friend a video of him because I noticed how bad his fins looked and figured he was nipping, and my friend was like, "That fish is really sick!!" Yea, turns out he's had fin rot the entire time I had him(a month and a half) and that's why he's always stress swimming, has white on the tips of his tail, and has trouble swimming He's currently in a bare 5.5 tank with a heater and empty filter with half a packet of Fin and Tail cure powder put in it and I regret not trying to use salt now

I read online that you shouldn't do salt bath for more than 10days. And if after 10 days it doesn't get better you should switch to salt dip. Not sure what is it but might be higher concentration for less time I think. Too much salt can be harmful for betta. I haven't tried yet but I also want to do the salt bath so I did some research about it.

His fins are looking better. Not 100% but better though it doesn't look like fin rot more like the cave in his fishtank was a bit rough and snagged some of his fins. I took them out and left only plants in there now. It does look better so here's hoping it'll grow back soon. Hello! I got my Betta fish on June 7. He’s my first pet and I spoil him to death. He came in the little cup and is a very beautiful blue veil tail with red areas on the centers of his fins. He’s been in a five gallon filtered and heated tank since then and over time he’s acquired fin rot. Just a few days ago I started an in tank salt treatment (just a tablespoon of dissolved salt, no other treatment) for him (since I couldn’t get my hands on all I would need for a quarantine tank... at least not yet) but today it seemed to be worse. I’ve been watching your videos and I just wanted the opinion of someone with more experience than me on what all this means. I want him to have a happy life for his full life span and the fin rot has me quite worried.

dont be too worried about fin rot. it'll happen to nearly every betta at some point. make sure you're keeping up with regular water changes, salt and indian almond leaves would be great. it takes a while to get better but should defo see improvement within a week

I had my betta for a year . Gave a spacious tank , cleaned the tank and water (+ solutions) ; But my Flame got finn rot , and it got extremely bad , O though I tried everything . He started getting white , and his finns looked terrible . ( this was in the span of 5 months) He was left with just a tiny bit of red , though initially he was a beutiful red . He started not eating( I tried changing foods more than once) and yesterday , he passed away. I sobbed a lot , but I think sometimes finn rot cases can’t be treated .

Hi everybody!! So, I’m commenting this absolutely everywhere in hopes that someone gives me advice! You see, I bought this very underfed Black Orchid Betta fish that is struggling with the worse case of fun rot I have ever seen yesterday from PetCo. I just couldn’t bare the thought of leaving him, so I took him home. I read that Bettafix really helps, so I’m currently giving him ( I named him Mike, his nickname is Tyson since he’s such a little fighter!) doses of that. However, I heard it’s not that helpful for severe cases. I’m also using API StressCoat plus as a water conditioner (double dose like the instructions recommended). I don’t want to use aquarium salt because my PetCo veterinarian said it would burn him. Please please please if anyone has any sort of ideas on how to treat him quickly let me know! I really want my little Mike to live, since he’s had such a hard life already! All helpful comments are appreciated, thanks so much!!!!!

Hey!! sorry for the late reply ive not been well! hope he's still hanging in there. Once bettas get moved from their rubbish cup and put into a cycled tank with heating and filtration the majority of the time the fin rot clears up by its self as its most likely caused by ammonia from the cup. ive never used Bettafix so i cant really comment on the affectivness of it but something has has worked wonders on my fish and i use it anytime i see a little tear on my fishes fins is Methelyne blue. It's fairly cheap and can be purchased on amazon. you move the fish into a container add a drop of MB directly to the fins and the whole water wil dye blue. leave him in there for a few minutes then move him back to the tank. Do this everyday till you start seeing improvments. hope this helps you. thats all I can really add to this video

Gracii Lacii he was doing a lot better when I got him in a dechlorinated quarantine tank with a filter, I added the beta fix as precise to the directions as possible because I was so scared about over or under doing it and Monday morning he unfortunately died, I was honestly more worried about him suffering…and I really don’t suggest beta fix I’m not saying it killed him but it definitely didn’t make him better 🙁
