    Btw I'm case y'all wanna know, but don't have time to watch - about a teaspoon of aquarium salt or all natural sea salt, in about 2 cups of water for 5-8 minutes. Monitor constantly

    Awesome video this is so informative and straight to the point! One thing i'd like to add for the aquarium salt though is to be careful because if you add too much it can cause kidney and bloating issues in your betta fish.

    If my betta is in a quarantine tank does it need a heater and filter??

  • @kristinabarkovic4525
    @kristinabarkovic45253 ай бұрын

    Definitely a heater but filter is not necessary as long as you don’t overfeed and change water daily. I just put fish into a brand new container daily instead of doing a WC on the one fish is in

    I definitely learned about taking on a pet with no research. My ex husband gave me a guinea pig. A guinea pig. They are also an animal that you need 2 or more for them to be happy. They live in herds. I knew nothing, he brought him to me in a little cage. Hours of research later, I was making a C&C cage, I started sewing their bedding cause people said the shavings could harm them. I had to buy hay, pellets, vitamins, treats. And a little baby girl for him to have as a cage mate(AFTER getting him neutered). Did not know you could neuter a guinea pig. They needed floor time every day. I dont know anything about reptiles, but I do know that your channel helped save my baby betta. And that yes, a pet shop with a monkey in a cage...that broke my heart. That monkey wanted out of there so bad he looked desperate. Anyways, sorry to ramble. My original point was, yea pets seem good on impulse, but its different once they are in your home. You OWE them the care and research.

    I’m of the same school of thought. Fortunately for me my water comes from my very own spring fed well. ❤ I do use small amounts of sea or kosher salt to treat fish before any type of medication. Sometimes medicine is necessary but why not try natural first.😊

    Hey Gracii So I've been using aquarium salt on my betta since 2/4. He has fin rot since 1/15. I do the separate container for 30 minutes. Yesterday, I went to Pet Smart for them to check the water quality. They told me to change 25% of the water because my alkalinity was low. I have a 5 gal tank. So I changed the water. I should've let the tank cycle for at least 30 mins before adding my betta. I usually put my fish in a bag & float him for 30 mins before adding him in the tank. Yesterday, I had to be somewhere in an hour. So I added my betta directly in the tank. He immediately went into Vertical Death Hang. I thought I killed him! The alkalinity was showing bright orange 8.4. I uses Tetra 5 in 1 Easy Strips. I bought Tetra Easy Balance & Tetra Correct ph. I used half of a tablet of Correct ph & 1 tsp of Easy balance. My betta is back to acting normal. He ate food last night. I woke up this morning & the water is all cloudy. 😢 What do I do now?

    I read online that you shouldn't do salt bath for more than 10days. And if after 10 days it doesn't get better you should switch to salt dip. Not sure what is it but might be higher concentration for less time I think. Too much salt can be harmful for betta. I haven't tried yet but I also want to do the salt bath so I did some research about it.

    @@user-he2fr1yu4u I wish I had known this sooner. My betta started healing on the salt baths but then took a turn for the worse when we left town for 4 days. I think all of the water changes were too much plus the fin rot. RIP. 😪

    TLDR; fungal infections look like cotton and fluffy. They can be caused by a variety of reasons (fish cut itself in the tank, planets brought in fungus, underlying bacterial infection). To treat, remove the fish from the tank and put it in a smaller enclosure. Treat with methylene blue and first, and/or sea salt. You can do both, but start with one, then the other. Treatment talking points start at 9:46.

    Aw you have such a sweet voice!! Good job on the makeup too, you look radiant 😊 Anyhow, im glad you made this vid coz i just built a tank outta some old glass shelves from a house clear out. It's like an upright rectangle.... Even with 30 ltrs theres still a good hand span left before the rim! I wanted a tall lidless tank just for this purpose.... Bettas are so interactive and intelligent!! I guess this jumping keeps them somewhat healthy and exercised?

    Oh boy! I really like your rack of fish tanks. Really does look cozy and artistic. It's manageable and you can spend time relaxing and watching your fish. It's nice to get away from it all. The mating pair are so pretty and very healthy looking. They look like they're wasting no time. Will you be keeping the pair or one of the babies for yourself? Guess you are pretty busy just yet to keep a lot of fish tanks. The breeding experience from beginning to grow out will be very satisfying for you. Not sure if the bottom rack will be holding any fish in the future.....just wondering if you've ever done this, any ideas on how to siphon low tanks? I have a rack just set up and plan to have one low level. So many people have low level tanks so there must be a way....I have 6 growing babies now (the miracle Foerschis) and today I think I met someone who seems interested in some. I hate to part with them but I'm keeping maybe a couple. With so many one must bid them farewell at some point so have to be realistic and trusting.

    I have a pair of Foerschi bettas (wild) and they've been together a bit over a year. Fairly recently, I had seen the female being so aggressive towards the male & supposedly this is the female showing her strength & prowess as a mate. Noticed no mating process though so thought nothing of it except I noticed the male disappeared for about a week. Even thought he had perished from stress from the female aggression. Well I saw no mating, no fry. Things returned to more normal relations between the female/male with much less aggression. Well I noticed a few days ago three little babies. My guess is when the male had disappeared he was holding...(mouth brooder). They are not teensy little fry, but three that survived somehow mom & dad & me not feeding anything real small or alive to what was at least three fry that survived. I have no idea how these little guys survived so I hope all goes well with them going forward. They are big enough not to be eaten by mom & dad & come out to eat all foods I feed, frozen, etc. Eventually I'll separate them out of the tank. I've had some very trying times recently so that I have something happen like this has meant a lot.' I'm so glad you're going forward with your breeding. Your new fish is so healthy looking & so pretty. I love the black "cow print" with a pale yellow. I'm sorry your Dora passed though. It's a creepy experience to lose a fish. They are pets to me and I know you really love your fish. It means a lot to see people care for their bettas as you do. People should feel so happy to purchase a betta from you as you are so careful when picking out your pair and make sure they are healthy. It's so hard to buy a fish from online and from pet stores as some are not strong fish and die much too soon. Bettas are such wonderful fish and definitely not a "beginner fish" to be taken home by just anyone. They are such a fascinating fish. I'll be sure to continue to watch your videos as always and now to look forward to following your new spawn. Hang in there as they say! Would be great to hear about your garden, what you're planting etc., and also your interesting finds from the past. I love things like that1

    I've never had wild bettas! I'd love to try getting a couple. They're so interesting and crazy how different their care is compared to domestic bettas. I think Betta Splendens will always have my heart though 😂 Thank you so much for your support! Excited to share the new progress soon!

  • @heaven7360

    @@GraciisBettas They can be more shy than domestic bettas. Also very sensitive to any changes to their tanks, like moving them to a larger tank or adding a snail or the like. I've had them disappear in their tanks for a couple months and then come out and act like nothing's wrong. They are interesting and beautiful in their own right and in time just as personable and great a pal as the domestics. Yes, I too love domestic bettas and have a red veil tail and a lavender dumbo female as part of my fish friends. I will always have domestic bettas. I'm not sure of how many you have now or what kinds. Takes some time to get into all that after so many changes going on for you all. Can't wait to hear about your garden and what you're growing and if you've unearthed anything new. Look forward to your videos when you get time to post. Things seem to just unfold normal in time.

    i haven't done direct research on it but ... i know salt doesn't evaporate. so it doesn't actually make sense for it to evaporate from the sea and rain down into rivers and ponds. boiling sea water is actually how they get sea salt, because the water evaporates and the salt doesn't, leaving all the salt in the " pot " and removing all moisture to be purified. that's actually the same method people use to make sea water safe to drink. they evaporate it, removing the salt and leaving you with fresh water. i forget what its called but there's a neat little thing people take on boats for this purpose incase they become lost at sea so they don't die of dehydration. there are traces of salt in fresh water like you said, but its not the same as sea salt. marine salt actually contains a lot of minerals that can affect GH/KH/PH in an aquarium that aquarium salt has zero affect on. I don't generally add any aquarium salt into my tanks on a regular basis because its really bad for plants and can often kill them or cause them to not thrive, but i do definitely use it for treatment if a fish is sick with some kind of infection/fungal or of course ich/epistylis/velvet. that being said a ttinnyyy amount of marine salt can help increase your levels if you have sensitive creatures like shrimp or snails that require more minerals, but i'd use something else like a wonder shell if it was available because salt is still hard on them. I also think it depends a lot on where you life in terms of tap water, tap water generally isn't demineralized, it does still have minerals in it unlike RO water, but the same can be said for how much chlorine is in your water too. you just need to test your GH and KH levels in your tap water to see how much minerals it has. but again, aquarium salt doesn't have those necessary minerals that affect your aquarium in that way. it can help with preventing infections from occurring so it can be useful to have some present in your aquariums, its not nearly as bad as people think it is so long as you're not going overboard, but i don't think its totally necessary when its not actually beneficial in terms of minerals the way marine salt is, but that's the thing about freshwater fish, they're not marine creatures and too much marine salt can kill them, since that's the salt added to make a saltwater aquarium haha. either way, it does my plants and snails more harm than it does my fish good so i don't use it unless its necessary P: also as for bbs, most breeders actually rinse their bbs so they're not adding salt to the tank, so yea they're probably salty upon consumption from living in it but they don't add the salted water to the tanks. i actually don't do that, its not good to have salt levels fluctuating a lot in the tank because that can kill baby bettas, but the salt helps with prevention of velvet which baby bettas can be very prone to. they absolutely can do fine at a week old with salt levels in their aquarium, unless you're feeding copious amounts of bbs every day i don't think rinsing is necessary xD
