Everything about Amsterdam sounds so perfect to me. I plan on one day moving to Amsterdam and spending the rest of my days there.

I remember the first time I visited Amsterdam about a decade ago now and at the time strangely feeling more at home especially with the locals than I have ever felt in my current home in the UK it's always been my home away from home. I really hope to move to Dam one day to make it my real home and I really hope it never changes

My favourite of the many films I've watched while researching/preparing fo my own move from UK. Since one of my dig reasons for choosing AMS is being a bicycling obsessive, I love Henryk's comments at 4;40. SUCH an inspirational video, yet realistic.

Absolutely delightful! Man i love these videos, fantastic job on making them SG, and thank you! My question is, how the hell did everyone get there? LOL As far as i know, isn't it quite difficult to move to a different country? :)

It is difficult but that doesn't stop millions of people from doing it every year all over the world. I wish I was one of them, but alas 36 years and counting on the same boring country.

hi brcage, all these people (apart from the born amsterdammers) have different stories of how they got here and why. with one exception (henryk), the poles and bulgarians in these films came to amsterdam after their countries acceded to the EU, but had to endure periods of restriction as to employment. of the other foreigners, i think legally the ones who came here many years ago had an easier time getting permission to stay, as compared to those moving here nowadays. as you probably know, there are some countries from which you're not even allowed to visit the netherlands without getting a special visa. that's the source of a lot of frustration. i wrote about this immigration thing at greater length in the corresponding web site amstergasm.com ... thanks for chiming in.

sgcollins Henryk is my favourite of your Amsterdammers! I love his thoughts on the singing fietsers (of which I am one). I hope one day to buy him a drink to say 'thank you'.

+Alice Agrusa he's a great guy i think. last i looked, victor was playing out with bands 'mower' and 'OD kids', and occasionally bartending. he and i also share a lot of the same political views, i think at heart he's a humanist / anarchist like me. generally a swell person.
