Music @ The Royal London Hospital - The Carefree Singers make a rousing return to the hospital

Спорт

It was a delight to have this enthusiastic group entertain us again in the hospital foyer, following their first visit almost a year ago. Based in the Beckenham area - and meeting regularly at St. George's Church - The Carefree Singers specialise in the joy of singing together and sharing their joy with others.
Under the inspiring leadership of Anne Lee from the piano, the group - nattily dressed in matching blue and white - gave us a long and varied playlist of popular songs from musicals, traditional ballads, hits from film scores, and 'feel-good' sing-alongs that are bound to please. From more contemplative numbers, such as the Mamas and Papas "California Dreaming" to light-hearted toe tappers like "On a wonderful day like today", through Cliff Richard's "Out in the country", via a hammed-up rendition of "Cockles and Mussels" to the cheeky schmooze of "Makin' Whoopee". All were delivered with a nice range and balance of tone - fun, warmth, unison and harmonies. This little clip is a good example: two songs for the price of one! ("Wouldn't it be lovely" and "I could have danced all night" from 'My Fair Lady".)
Thank you Carefree Singers for volunteering to sing for the hospital. We look forward to seeing you again.
If you want to find out more about the group, they are on social media e.g. X/Twitter, so look 'em up and - if you love to sing - why not join them!
