Music @ The Royal London Hospital - Olga Primary School makes an enthusiastic return to the hospital

The hospital foyer was once again rejuvenated with a sparkling performance from the musical pupils of the Olga Primary School on Roman Road, Bow. Under the dynamic leadership of Director of Music Karen Swift, the children really got into the spirit of their performance with a full programme of catchy and imaginative songs - complete with actions! - plus an interlude of fine solo performance of a piece by Bach and a couple of traditional Scottish tunes by Clem on the viola.
Apart from the piece recorded here - the theme song from the stage musical "Little Shop of Horrors" - the first piece was a lovely version of the Beatles' "Blackbird", followed later by a delightfully irreverent song from the musical "Matilda", an easy-listening version of Foo Fighters' "It's times like these you learn to live again", and a few other numbers, each of which were tackled bravely and enthusiastically by the Olga girls and boys.
Many visitors stopped in their tracks to listen and watch, and the smiles, positive feedback and warm applause were evidence of how much joy was spread by these youngsters, sharing their contagious enjoyment with all who heard them.
Thank you Olga School! The suggestion that you might come back to perform at the hospital again before Christmas is something for us to look forward to!
