Music @ The Royal London Hospital - Precious by name: Musical by nature!

Спорт

In view of the lovely weather we tried something new today and moved the piano out onto the open plaza space between the hospital and the TH Town Hall.
What - or rather who - helped to make this work so well was today's pianist, 16 year old Lewisham schoolgirl Precious Akindele-Obasusi.
Having just finished school, Precious has been playing the piano since she was 8. She loves composing as much as playing. Precious hopes to to make a career in music, and she will be starting at the BRIT school to study Music Performance in September. Precious is partially sighted and started learning mainly by ear but now uses enlarged scores via an i-Pad.
Today Precious played a selection of her own compositions, with no musical score, and entirely from memory and improvisation. The music she chose to play was very suitable for this space, where many people were either passing through, or sitting in the sunshine to eat their lunch. The smiles and applause that rewarded Precious's performance were plenty of evidence of how much they enjoyed her sharing her lovely music.
The Friends are very grateful to Precious for volunteering her time to come to the hospital and play so well for the patients, staff and visitors. Thank you!

This is extraordinary. I post piano content myself and it’s always an honour to see other musicians play different styles of music. Spectacular performance! Keep it up 👍🏾
