MST3K-Broadcast Editions: 304-Gamera vs Barugon 4/18/1992

Комедия

And I suppose you'd prefer a little animated clown who would juggle over to the little file cabinet and then wink at you and then point to the right Broadcast Edition.
Aired April 18, 1992 at 12:30am. Friday night into early Saturday morning.
Before the episode starts, I've included an interesting Comedy Central news insert that CC ran in an episode from the prior week that I won't be uploading, but I thought was noteworthy to include, about Sam Kinison's death. Also before the episode, Alan Havey pays tribute to a DIFFERENT comedian, Michael Hampton-Cain.
We're circling back and clearing through some backlog of Comedy Central reruns (and maybe a few other premieres or near-premieres).
This is from the end of the beginning of 2nd year of Comedy Central. In its prime. Watch for lots of nostalgic commercials!
Including: Ads for now-forgotten mall-staple Clothestime, now-forgotten Bob Hoskins movie "Passed Away", Certs with now-banned Retsyn, also-now-banned spermicidal sponges, now-cancelled Ellen DeGeneres for the A-List, and the now-dead Sy Sperling for Hair Club for Men. And many more now-obsolete advertising relics.
Check back here roughly every week-ish (ha!) for more broadcast versions of MST3K episodes.
FYI, I'm always on the look-out for taped episodes with their commercials intact. Preferably March 1991 and earlier, or Turkey Days ''93, '94 & '95. I'll even pay for the things. Interested? Drop me a line! Find me on Reddit, Tarlcabot18 or Twitter, Tarlcabot25. I prefer a DM on Twitter, Reddit's DM's have been acting up for me.

For clarification: the comedian PSA death came from my April 1992 7 PM airing of “The Sidehackers,” which you can find on my channel with my real life name “Alexander Mack.” Honestly hearing that it was a truck driver doesn’t surprise me, truck drivers are absolute PRICKS on the road. But anyway, while not really my favorite episode of the Gamera flicks, I REALLY appreciate that this one doesn’t have any annoying lead children characters with badly-dubbed English voices. This one definitely feels a lot more mature for a Gamera flick. Also, as someone who actually uses a Mac, I’m looking forward to that thing kicking the bucket and switching back to Windows. Sorry not sorry.

Michael Hampton-Cain went to audition for Barry Levinson's Diner in New York. He asked his fellow stand-up comedian friend to come along, and his friend said why not? He needed to get some socks from Macy's and the audition was along the way. While Michael was doing his audition, his friend was heard outside doing improv making everyone laugh. The casting director asked him if he brought his headshot and he replied no. The casting director told him to come back tomorrow. He did. He won the part. Hampton-Cain would appear in only 1 movie and did Letterman twice. The friend was Paul Reiser, and thanks to Diner he'd get his own sitcom. All because of socks.

Tom Servo: Kill the wabbit, kill a wabbit... Crow: Hey I can see my laundry!

39:40 Crow riffs on 'Apocalypse Now'. He says: 'Saigon, can you beleive I'm still in Saigon.' I chuckled but think it would have been funnier if Joel would have done the line and changed it to, 'Space, Can you beleive I'm still watching bad movies in Space?' A little breaking of the 4th wall could have been gold Just a thought...30 years later ;) Cheers from Canada

That was a sobbering opening. At first I thought it was a skit. Here in Canada, you needed a satellite to see the comedy network, so I didn't know how they operated. RIP Sam Kinison

58:00 'We can't put it off forever, It'll be too late.' That was dialogue found in an honest to goodness movie and might just be the dumbest things any one was ever spoken!! Did they use a computer language program and it was the first one ever. Just Amazing!! I Love it :)

1:36:40 It's Ellen, when she used to be...not bad. What was that movie she was in? The one with Bill Pullman and I think she runs away from a wedding and tells off the D.J. so much, that he quits. Strange Picture

1:03:15 Listen for Servo's borderline line, 'Little Nip in the air' Personally, I think it was freakin hilarious but I doubt that it would get through the censors, in today's climate! Today's climate sucks. Just way too nippy for me ;)
