MST3K-Broadcast Editions: 305-Stranded in Space 3/28/1992

Комедия

People seemed to laugh more then...there were Broadcast Editions in the park...
Aired March 3, 1992 at 10am.
We're circling back and clearing through some backlog of Comedy Central reruns (and maybe a few other premieres or near-premieres).
This is from the end of the beginning of 2nd year of Comedy Central. In its prime. Watch for lots of nostalgic commercials!
Including: Ads for that movie were Charles Grodin gets slobbered on by a large dog. Some scam that claims you can quiet a colic-y baby by running a vacuum and other quackery. More Chicken Tonight. White Men Can't Jump. A crappy ice skating romance movie. A disco compilation tape (its making a comeback!). Apparently static cling was a big problem back then? And many, many repeats of the same annoying baseball card commercial.
Beforehand look for...not Jon Stewart, I believe he had left SAST by this point. Afterwards, there's a tiny sliver of what I can show of a certain live show that was and is seen on Saturday's. After THAT, there's...a discussion on veteran's affairs? It was on the tape, so why not?
Check back here roughly every week-ish (ha!) for more broadcast versions of MST3K episodes.
FYI, I'm always on the look-out for taped episodes with their commercials intact. Preferably March 1991 and earlier, or Turkey Days ''93, '94 & '95. I'll even pay for the things. Interested? Drop me a line! Find me on Reddit, Tarlcabot18 or Twitter, Tarlcabot25. I prefer a DM on Twitter, Reddit's DM's have been acting up for me.

6:58 - "Kachow? Kachow? What is Don Martin working with you guys now?" No, but I think Lightning McQueen is.

I’m pretty sure baseball cards were never this heavily marketed before or after 1992.

I'm a little proud that I know this is based on the Roald Dahl short story "Beware of Dog."

12:33 When Crow speaks for the patient and says, (speaking to the nurse), 'My God You're ugly' It's actually a direct quote from The 2nd greatest televisional feast of all time, 'Fawlty Towers' and it's star John Clease he's speaking as and it's a must see show! The only sad thing, is that there are only 12 episodes, making the show even funnier because the hold nothing back! Cheers from Canada P.S. I said Fawlty Towers was the 2nd best show of all time. The first? You're watching it ;)

Used to love watching Mr. Hartman and co in the reruns of that live show back when CC ran reruns of it. I was a youngster and remember being devastated when CC dropped it in favor of the Mad sketch show. I actually wrote an email to the network complaining - and they responded(!) (basically saying, sorry - not sorry). Double punch of nostalgia on this one. Thanks so much for sharing all of these!

This one is honestly my favorite of the trio on this particular…… not really watched often tape (you know what the preceding two episodes are). Definitely an enjoyable episode from early season 3, and I actually gave “The Stranger” a watch on its own and enjoyed it. A shame it never managed to pick up the planned TV series. Respectfully by the way I’m gonna have to disagree with you on the baseball cards commercial 😜 I always found the effects in that commercial to be pretty fascinating! That said though, I do agree it was a bit….. overplayed during early to mid 1992 on Comedy Central.

26:00 Don't use card commercial, a skit about no sport cards! This episode was made for me, although If I had a guess, I'd say those cards are not real. They did have a Welcome Back Carter set and if they did have a Love boat set featuring every guest star, That would mean there was a card of Reb Brown Because he was in one episode at the start of his career. I'd pay a lot for an official Reb Brown in Space Mutiny set!!

17:00 I've got 6 opened boxes of those Donruss Baseball cards and they suck!!! I didn't get any of the shiny or auto cards. I guess that's why they got bought out.
