MST3K-Broadcast Editions: 209-The Hellcats 2/22/1992

Uh oh, Broadcast Editions cubed it, man! Heenie hiney horny hony...
Aired February 22, 1992 at 12:30am. Late Friday night into early Saturday morning, immediately after Night After Night with Allan Havey.
We're circling back and clearing through some backlog of Comedy Central reruns (and maybe a few other premieres or near-premieres).
This is from the end of the beginning of 2nd year of Comedy Central. In its prime. Watch for lots of nostalgic commercials!
Including: a frankly deceptive ad for the very forgettable "Radio Flyer" (Fueled by imagination! And child abuse, apparently, based on the Wikipedia plot synopsis), those "I feel like chicken tonight" commercials, Time Life books telling us about this "computer" fad, Pizza Rolls, that smarmy Clearasil voiceover guy, another forgettable movie about boxing starring James from Twin Peaks and Cuba Gooding, Jr., the VHS for the underrated "Other People's Money", Chevy Chase's lame invisible man vanity project (that they try to dress up as some kind of action thriller, lol), another forgettable film "Once Upon a Crime". Boy, February really was a dumping ground for movies back then...
Beforehand look for a very young Jon Stewart. Afterwards there's WAS a brief bit a nature documentary about frogs, but I guess Wild America doesn't want anyone watching frogs reproduce...
Check back here roughly every week-ish (ha!) for more broadcast versions of MST3K episodes.
FYI, I'm always on the look-out for taped episodes with their commercials intact. Preferably March 1991 and earlier, or Turkey Days ''93, '94 & '95. I'll even pay for the things. Interested? Drop me a line! Find me on Reddit, Tarlcabot18 or Twitter, Tarlcabot25. I prefer a DM on Twitter, Reddit's DM's have been acting up for me.

I would unironically pay to see a documentary about the making of Radio Flyer, it was such a gong show across the board.

Just a reminder by the way: these are the remaining premieres/near premiers from me: Manhunt in Space EEGAH! Teen-age Strangler Alien from L.A The Atomic Brain Last of the Wild Horses Danger!! Death Ray So seven total left with the rest being reruns. And I know there’s my “Painted Hills” recording you want to hold off on for now. But I continue to look forward to seeing them all pop up!

Hey, LittleJerryFan92! I'm sorry about KZread being a pain in your butt, but you at least uploaded some great classic Sesame Street content for me to enjoy. Thanks for that.

For those who would like to see the frog documentary by the way, the official upload of the episode from “Wild America” is on KZread (just type the name of the series and “prince of the pond” and you’ll find it). My tape that has this recording of “Hellcats” has a small 6-minute portion at the end. The episode apparently aired in February 1992 (according to IMBD)…. So this MUST have been taped after the world premiere 10 AM airing of “Master Ninja” (which I have uploaded on my alternate channel with my real life name, “Alexander Mack”) to fill up the remainder of space before being taped over with those two February 1992 recordings (the 10 AM “Lost Continent” one which I also have uploaded on that channel and this one respectively).

This one is honestly my least favorite of the three season 2 biker flicks (like seriously this movie could have actually been semi-enjoyable if half of it wasn’t just a bunch of padding filler with the bikers getting high and drunk and partying like animals), and the host segments in this one are a pretty big drag, but I definitely appreciate that this one gave a flashback to a season 1 episode which REALLY blew my mind away when I first saw this recording as a kid when I was in 1st grade around the age of 7/8….. and I was lucky to find a Rhino VHS copy a few months later of “The Crawling Hand” at my local Suncoast Motion Picture store (oh how I miss that place BADLY)…. Which I was also surprised to see Dr. Erhardt in place of Frank AND those nasty puke green theater seats I remember seeing on the “This is Mst3k” documentary (which I was lucky to even get a glimpse of KTMA before knowing of season 1’s existence!). Still, it at least has a pretty groovy soundtrack. I LOVE the opening song with those trippy paintings. And the trumpet guy being pissed that he was tossed in a pond lives rent-free in my head. “I’ll bet all of you are only CHILDREN!”

I still wonder after all these years what that guy they threw in the water was shouting.
