    Hey KingCobra, At this point, I don't know when the testing begins, as more work needs to be done. I need to test everything on my G37 first to make sure everything works as expected. As you can guess, this is a very complicated thing to do and I don't know how much variation Nissan/Infiniti has programmed in. BUT we have started and will continue to figure this out. One of my favourite sayings is "The longest journey starts with a single step" and we are on our way :)

    Motorvate DIY That’s honestly really great to hear as it’s the MAIN reason I really enjoy this channel, the strive for perfection. I obviously don’t expect perfection and there will be hiccups on the way but being on that path alone makes me confident in your work and progress. Really look forward to this, please keep us posted! Also, one more thing to note, I’m not a huge fan of patreon personally so I was thinking of other ways to help support your channel and I think a livestream Q&A would be great! I follow another channel that is also specialized in a specific car model (jaguar xk8/xkr) that I own as well, and hes started doing livestreams to great success. Would also allow for donations during the livestream!

    Hey, just a question, my 10 g37x has some hesitation on acceleration at low speeds, after a stop I give it about 15% throttle and hold it and the car feels like it has no power or very little power and after a second or 2 power comes on, Then i smoothly give it more throttle input and the car will jerk, the throttle is smooth feeling but the power jumps up and the revs go up by 2-400 rpm, even at parking lot speeds I’ll barley touch the throttle and hold the gas and after a second or 2 it will accelerate more and slow down and it will keep doing that when i constantly hold the throttle (first theirs no power then power comes on then no power) it feels like the throttle body is closing on its own, idk what’s the issue, I’ve cleaned throttle and maf sensors and did a tune up and did the peddle dance and reset the ECU and nothing worked

    Hey DGFr0sty, That's an odd problem. If you want to troubleshoot this yourself, get an OBD wireless scanner and an app (OBD Fusion is my favourite, but Torque Pro is ok) OBD Fusion has a VERY nice diagnostic report. Run that report with the engine at a hot idle, and look at the fuel trims. Then, do some data logging. For both banks, I would record the air/fuel ratio, MAF, absolute pressure sensor (MAP), absolute throttle position, engine RPM and accelerator pedal. This data should tell you what is going on. If you want to learn more about OBD diagnostics, pop over to my other KZread channel: kzread.info As you can guess, most of it is G37 focused, so that might help.

    Great content, and I look forward to what's coming in the future! I have semi-relevant question for you if you wouldn't mind me asking. On my 2013 G37x I have glasspacks in place of my mufflers, and was wondering if you think a tune would benefit my car in any way in its current state. Thanks!

  • @MotorvateDIY

    @MotorvateDIY

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Matthew Moore, I'm glad you are looking forward to the new episodes! As your your tune question.... That is a hard question to answer. The stock exhaust pipe is not very large (compared to aftermarket cat back exhausts), but the glass pack muffler should flow very well. I think a tune might give you a little more power, but I am not sure it is worth the cost. I think you may want to look at a larger diameter cat back exhaust, and maybe a nice big cold air intake, then get the tune for the biggest bang-for-the-buck.

    @@MotorvateDIY Hey Motorvate! I thought kinda the same thing; I had pretty much opened up my restrictive exhaust, and that without more modification a tune yielding a tiny power bump wouldn't be worth the money. Thanks for validating that for me, and taking the time to answer!! Stay well now!

    Hi Motorvate! Great content! Question, how often should one change their oil on a VQ motor?( mine is VQ35HR) For scenarios where im driving highway and local roads everyday, would you say every 5k? How about for when a car is parked for days, on a hot summer day, and only drive once/twice per week ( like in our crazy pandemic quarantine)? Thanks!

    Hey Peter Jeong, I have two answers for you: (1) Easy (2) Not as Easy The easy way is to follow the maintenance schedule (infinitig37.com/maint-sched.html) based on how the car is driven either schedule 1 or schedule 2. The Not so easy way is to get a used oil analysis at the next oil change: K&N Filter Dirt Test: G37/370z - Motorvate's DIY Garage Ep. 16 kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6p52tufqN3ZgtI.html Since I don't drive in "stop and go" traffic, I change it every 12,000 KM or 7,500 miles. Based on my last used oil analysis, the condition of the oil (viscosity and additive package) is still OK. Make sure to use a name brand, 100% synthetic 5W30 oil.

    @@MotorvateDIY thank you Motorvate! One last question, my car is at 50,000 miles and was bought used. Its a 2008 G35 sedan. Ive replaced most parts and kept up with maintenance but one thing I have not looked into is the fan and radiator. Since it's a 12 year old car, how often should the fan and or radiator be changed out?

  • @MotorvateDIY

    @MotorvateDIY

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Peter Jeong, In my opinion, they should replaced when they fail as they are not a maintenance item. Generally the rad and fans seems to last FOREVER without issues. Unlike my BMW, that needs a new rad/water pump/thermostat every 5-6 years :(

    Most seem to think that due to German environmental laws, it is required to use a high percentage of recycled plastic, which may not have the same long term strengh. Changing the rad, thermostat and water pump is not difficult and much cheaper than a new/rebuilt engine :)

    Hey Jonah urban, Just to clarify, the trouble code doesn't tell us what part to replace... It tells us the symptom. In your case, the symptom is that the accelerator pedal two position sensors are showing different positions. This can be caused the the pedal, wiring, or about 10 other sensors that can bring down the 5 volt power supply that is used. You could replace the pedal and see if that works, but often you end up buying parts your don't need. If you do replace the pedal, you must to the "accelerator pedal released learning" procedure.

    Hey Jonah urban, The P2138 is the accelerator pedal sensor as mentioned above: The P1757 fault is in the transmission. The "front brake solenoid valve" These issues require special tools and knowledge. If you don't have them, I think it is best to take it to a shop. Have them work on the P2138 first, as there is a slight chance that may also fix the P1757 transmission fault. Good luck!
