The neighbors that reported this incident are hero’s and have saved these children from further abuse. Prayers that the children are placed with caring and loving family members.

Wrong, MOST people shouldn’t have children but since procreation is so pleasurable it’s easy to do and they should make marriages harder than a divorce.

@@redstratus97 I am NOT discouraging marriage, in fact when people asked if I ever have been married and answer no, people often ask if I have had children, I look at them and say no and that I may be a mite old fashioned but I think it’s a good idea to marry before having kids. A girl I know told me before she married, they went to their local minister to get marriage counseling and he just said, “you’ll be fine” and they divorced after a couple of years. People in throes of passion or lust get married when they shouldn’t have.

When I became a mother , my needs and wants took a backseat to my children’s needs. My children came first. Always.

I am so glad those kids are safe. What a heartbreaking story! There was a mom from Cleveland Ohio that left her 16 month home and she did not survive. She is now serving a life sentence with no chance of parole!

Unbelievable! She’s not a real mom. She gave birth but has no idea how to be a mom. Feel awful for those precious children 😢

The kids were 8 and 6, not old enough to be on their own of course! But there was “the smell of urine throughout the apartment”? Sounds like these kids were not being cared for long before this incident.

It doesn't say when the police went there, maybe a day or two later. Urine will definitely smell throughout the house within a day or two.

I agree. A 6 & 8 year old go to school so they should know how to use a toilet and flush it.

That woman should never get her children back and should remain in jail also I believe the cruise lines should ban her from ever being able to go on a cruise again

You’re absolutely correct but unfortunately, in the end, she’ll beat the system and avoid any incarceration.

I can't even imagine those poor kids being left alone. I wouldn't even go to the corner store without my kids! I sure hope they get a home where they are truly loved and cared for.... she should never be allowed to have the back.

Those kids are now with her sister. Also she cannot be anywhere near those kids with a $25000 bond.

Kudos to the neighbors who called authorities. So glad the children are OK. Thoughts & prayers for the family of the cruiser who died, and to those who were injured, for speedy recovery and getting back home.

She needs to lose her children and be put in prison.

Sadly, leaving children of this age alone is not uncommon. I’ve lived in apartments where I’ve seen this over and over with a single mom. I have had to call child services and police because of a mother that did this with three children that lived above me. All three (ages 7, 5 and 3!) were taken into custody by the authorities, and the mother was taken to jail when she returned five days later….. so disgusting!

I heard the story of the abandoned children on the national news last night. How sad that a parent would do this. Poor children.

This is just awful! My husband and I just returned from a cruise and I had a dog sitter come in and stay with my dog . What was she thinking 😢

Yup! We spend big bucks on doggie care whenever we leave home... and still worry and contact the sitter throughout our travel. So very sad. Oh, and our house does not smell of urine either. What's that about?!

There was a case in the Cleveland, Ohio where a mother left her 16 month old child in a play pen to go on a cruise for a week. When she returned home the child was dead from starvation and dehydration. She was sentenced to life in prison.

That was too nice of a sentence. She should have been given the same consideration she gave her child. Just awful.

Re the abandoned children: Heard a story from Reddit about someone who signed up a dog sitting service when they went on a cruise. They had no dog but a child left alone and expected the dog sitters to feed her and take her to school. There are crazy people out there!

Don’t stand in front of running vehicles that could run you over

I was a latch key kid, but it was for only 1-2 hours after school which was a block away. My kid is 10 and we've only ever left him alone for maybe an hour to run an errand. I can't fathom leaving the country!

As a Mom to 7 children I didn't start cruising till my baby was 12 and my husband could handle the schedule because a few of the older kids had moved out. So now 18 years later we cruise at least once a year and sometimes it is with children and their families and mostly just my husband and myself . That mom is a shame to the word Mom.

@nerdmom6 ITS funny how women assume husbands cannot handle being alone with children for a few days. Studies show single dads make superior parents (kids have high grades, goto college, secure great jobs) but women always assume husbands are too dumb to be dads .

Yea I was there. Just got out the cruise terminal . And to the left was the van against the wall . Lots of emergency response. So sad for those involved.. Prayer are with them .

The driver must have left the vehicle in drive otherwise it wouldn't have jumped forward when he mistakenly hit the gas. If it was in neutral or park the engine would just have revved.

A similar case happened last year where a mother (kristal candelario) went on a 10 day holiday and left her toddler at home to die.

I just heard about that story a few weeks ago and it has haunted me ever since……..I have a granddaughter that just turned 18 months and the thought of leaving her alone would never enter my mind 😢 the horror that poor child went through is unbearable.

I saw part of that trial on KZread. That poor baby and the neighbors will never get over either. That poor girl cried and cried :(

Wow. And lots of cruises children these ages sail free. And have wonderful kids camps. But she obviously wanted “me” time. No grandparent other family or friend that could’ve watched the children? 6&8 are children not to be left alone. 🤦‍♀️. Quite unfortunate. Now 3 lives major impacted and changed forever.

Even more unbelievable is the case where a mother left her 18 MONTH OLD to go on a vacation. Sadly, the little girl died, mother got life in prison.

Talk about an easy pickup on this cruise. Wow, this mom would be a wild night. ❤

Another woman left her baby at home while she went to Puerto Rico for 10 days. Child was deceased when she got back and hid her for days.

How could she be surprised upon her return?? If she even checked in on them even once, she would have known they were saved by someone.

If she had a webcam didn’t she know they were taken? Unbelievable story!! If she was crazy to leave, didn’t she see they were gone???

Oh my gosh...can't believe how little she cared about her kids...big deal she had a camera on them....she was on a cruise ship...she had no way to get to them quickly if there was an emergency. Mandatory for her getting out of jail anytime soon should be that things should be taken care of so she can never get pregnant...but of course the way our society is...she will either get those poor kids back or she will just get pregnant again. Abandoned children story made me cry.

There are often cruises where the kids go free - with kids clubs so she wouldn't even have to have them with her much of the day. As Don mentioned, the kids are now with family members so why in the world would she not make arrangements for them to keep the kids for a few days? Unbelievable!!!

Geez, my kids are 24 21 and 16. Whenever I leave the older ones have more than enough food and money to order food. Along with their own money. My 16 year old still stays with my mom. I could never leave them like that omg

Right I remember I was 21 and I had to make the long trek home one weekend from college to stay with my younger siblings so my parents could have a weekend away. The youngest was 4 but the older ones were between 9 and 17.

I get a live in babysitter for my cats, I couldn't imagine leaving children.

Not to long ago a woman left her toddler in a playpen with several bottles while she went on vacation. Unfortunately the toddler passed away in that case.

Don, she's done it before. "Lakesha Woods Williams is charged with abandoning a child with intent to return and is being held on a $25,000 bond....the woman has allegedly done it before, according to court records."

😢how sad to think some people can't have children. Hope this woman's locked up
