They cannot legally even question this, because there is no body to perform an autopsy to see if he was actually intoxicated, everything they are going on is speculation. The boy could have been doing some type of drug that his parents had no clue of or anyone else.

My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that he was with friends and also his brother. If the family pushes the issue on how he got alcohol, they may not like the answer...
Again, blame everyone else but the unfortunate young man who jumped. Why did he jump because he was drunk, I think there is more to the story…we may never know….

I'm sure his brother could tell where his brother got the booze from.
Why is the family blaming the cruise ship. They should be blaming themselves as they could have prevented the tragic incident. Hope the cruise line investigates them for their role in the incident. The cruise lines need to skip going to Juneau.
He was mentally ill and suicidal before going on this cruise. Drunks do not commit suicide just because they are drunk.
This is a grown adult. Sick of people in America not holding adults accountable for their own actions and always blaming someone else.

From stories I'm reading this young man was afraid of his very religious parents and did this out of fear when they found him on the ship. He had been having a good time with another gentleman and some other people including his brother I believe at a hot tub area. Then the brother left and later the brother and father came looking for him and went to confront him and he just jumped out of fear and desperation to not have to deal with his father. For his father to blame the cruise line and acting like prayer can save the guy floating in the ocean it just tells you the kind of people they are.

I thought I read somewhere that the father wasn’t worried when the son jumped because he did deep sea diving for his job ……….?
No matter how this tragedy happened, it is so horrible for this family.
We have seen parents give alcoholic beverages and beer to underage kids younger than 20 in front of all the other passengers without flinching too.
What I find more bewildering about the "drunk" 20 year old is the guy who not only was in the hot tub with him right before this happened, but was standing a few feet away when he jumped. The guy said the kid was well spoken, nice, he had a full conversation with him, he was not distressed, and he did not appear to be drunk or drugged. The people in the cabin next door said there had been no noise the entire cruise, they met the kid early on and again said he was very polite and friendly. So I'm not buying this easy answer of drunk or drugged out of his mind. I do wonder what he felt he could "Solve right now" by jumping. At that age things do appear dire in the moment, so who knows. I'm trying not to speculate, since that's all it would be. Just a heartbreaking situation.
Unfortunately, the 20 yr. Old young man could have been furnished alcohol by others onboard. Also could have snuck drinks while in port. These kids can find a way...so tragic.

He could've also purchased bottles of alcohol in port and brought them back to the ship, no?
@chandrakirts6440

No. Not on most cruises. If you buy it in port and get back on the ship the ship confiscates it and gives it back at the end of your cruise

@@chandrakirts6440not saying it happened here but it's possible. People buy alcohol and put it in a separate container like a travel water bottle
This is really not the Cruise Lines’s fault. He was 20 years old hardly a child. ’m sure people were buying him drinks. There is no way for the cruise line to police this level of misbehavior.

Lots of questions and very little answers for that 20 year old boy. Amazing production shows, lots of talent.
when tragedies happen, it's natural to look for someone/something to blame. Rightly or wrongly. They probably also blame themselves. Stages 😅f grief are real. They are at anger. So people need to stop trashing the parents and defend billion dollar companies. Let the investigation take its course.
He probably snuck it on the ship or someone got him the alcohol
What 20 yr old is not gonna try to drink on a cruise? The family is trying to blame others. Was it booze or something else. Sounds like other issues occurred to end this traffic story.

Dude had some mental issues. My step son was 17 years old and 11 months and 28 days (off by 2 days). Cancun age was 18. My wife and I tried to buy him a drink, as he was under parental supervision and it was 1 drink. The waiter said no he won’t lose his job over this. But the conga line where you go through the bar, he was able to hop in line for a few watered down shots of alcohol. Everyone wants to blame others when tragedy happens for the $$$. They probably won’t mention the fentanyl that could have been in his ADHD/locally sourced unregulated/bath salts meds allegedly.
My son told me there was an 18 year old who came into club O2 on carnival who supposedly had been drinking. So it gave him the impression you can buy alcohol at 18 on the ship. I said nope you can’t. So I don’t know how they got to alcohol but they didn’t buy it themselves.
And again, no one is taking responsibility for anything.
Geez, Alaska had to get congress to allow ships to skip Canada, due to covid closures. And now they don't want the tourists???
Regarding the 20 yr old that appeared to be drunk, he could have got drinks from friends. It’s unfortunate. Prayers for the family.
The accusation he was drunk is alleged!

I saw a report that Royal Caribbean claims that the passenger had left the ship when it was docked at the Dominican Republic. The suggestion is that he may have become inebriated at the D.R. before returning to the ship. Royal Caribbean claims that the man could not have received drinks on board and noted that the drinking age in the Dominican Republic is 18-years-old. My heart goes out to the man's family. I hope they are receiving counseling.
Easy explanation to how he got drunk. He snuck it on board.
Sad to say that the alcohol situation is easy to figure out..... I found out when my son went on a cruise with me that total strangers were okay with supplying him with alcohol, and they had no proof that he was of age!
It is sad that so much joy in the world is being destroyed by people who want to fight and make the world unsafe for others.
blame the parent.
Hi Don. Wow! Your intro volume was amazing. The volume after your photo gallery was lower, but still higher than normal. Thanks for the extra volume.
Early reports said he was in a hot tub with another man; I'm sure this "other man" could shed some light on where the young man was getting alcohol.
Always enjoy the updates, thanks
Regarding the 20 yo, he probably got drunk while in Port. Thanks again, Don.
Thanks for the updates today.
The ship left port at 5pm. It was in Dominican Republic
The question is why didn't the family or friends he was traveling with let him get drunk. Very sad 😢
I'm a huge Alaska fan, I try to go every year. Admittly these ports are quite small and having multiple large ships visit at the same time would be a challenge for locals. However the season is short and many people rely on tourists coming to the area, perhaps working together to find resolutions would be a much better idea.
Thank you Dan. I always enjoy your videos
Thanks for the information.
In international waters there is no age restriction.
We need to drink carefully. Sorry for the family
Someone had to have purchased drinks for him for sure.
So join the Army at 18 fight and die for your country but on leave you cannot have a beer apart from that how can you tell the difference between a 20 year old and a 21 year old without ID ?

On the ship you are supposed to present your key card to the bartender. It is coded with your age. Of course if people were giving him drinks staff wouldn't know.
Maybe someone else bought the alcohol for the 20 yr old using their cruise card…I’ve seen it happen many times.
If someone wants to drink they will find a way
I’ve seen parents get drinks at the bar and then hand it over to their teenagers. I hope that’s not what happened. Such a sad situation 😢
Prayers to the family
There’s an interview with a guy who said he hung out with the gentleman that jumped and his brother most the night at the hot tub. I’d be willing to bet he’s regretting that interview now especially if it was him or the brother that gave the alcohol
Interestingly, enough, when our ship arrives in Juneau, there will only be three ships in Port and one leaves about two hours after we arrive but in Ketchikan, there will be five and pretty much at the same time.
Most countries have a 18 years old legal limit for alcohol; 21 is mainly a US thing

Great video ❤❤❤❤
Keep up the good work!
I've been hearing a lot of stories of out of control drunks on cruise ships lately. There's always been incidents here and there, but it's starting to become chronic. Could it be related to the new found popularity of "drink packages?" Whatever the daily limit, most people would be utterly trashed after 11 drinks (or more) in one day.
I drank on board with CREW when I was underage, even getting snuck down below to hang out with multiple crew. We sat around drinking and playing cards. Had to climb down a ladder to get down there. Crazy, would never do that now, and crazy do have done it then. Nothing bad happened, thankfully. This was 30+years ago.
Hi. Don another great video
Perhaps he drank on shore, brought liquor with him. This whole 21 age requirement causes young adults to have to sneak around instead of a social drink with family.
Of course, it's always the cruise line's fault for everything and anything that every single one of their passengers do. 😒🙄
Unfortunately, cruisers saying it is your town you don't deserve to enjoy it. It sounds like someone is entitled.
If you don’t want to be bothered by tourists, why would you purchase property near a busy port?
All those shows sound good.
I hope Juneau can make good choices for all involved. I can't imagine the cruise employees would give liquor to an underage passenger.
You can't blame royal caribbean nor can you blame alchohol. He was obviously deeply troubled
He was 20 years old. Hardly a child. I’m from Quebec where the drinking age is 18.

Friends and older family members can buy drinks in the ships! If there’s a will there’s a way!
I don't think the ship served him. I think he drank until he had to record the ship.
I'll be on the Konningsdam next month. Hoping they have the new shows. 👍
My first question about underage drinking- someone can buy you drinks or they sneak alcohol on the ship
I saw the Caribbean princess today. Looking at her right now!!!
Maybe the 20 year old was drinking in port, was drunk upon returning to the ship ,and that's why his father had words with him.
Love your shorter videos with several topics.
I don’t remember this happening when ships were smaller. These big ships have changed the rules. I don’t want to travel on ships with 5 and 6 thousand people.

I agree- with smaller cruise ship , there is easy to have more control
Blame the ship and not personal responsibility, don't agree.
Will be on Nieuw Amsterdam in November. Do you know if one of the new shows will be on there?
It is possible that this young man became so intoxicated off the ship that he could still be intoxicated several hours later. We went to Mr Sancho’s one time and I had family members that had so much alcohol, frozen drinks, while we were there on the beach in the sun all day. They did not realize how much until it was time to leave. Their husbands got them back onboard the ship. They said they were still drunk the next morning and didn’t want to drink another chocolate monkey ever again. 😂 Depending on the statue of the person, it can occur. Plus I am sure the brother could contribute to more alcohol onboard too.
How can you be scammed for visas, when everyone knows that you have to apply for a visa at the embassy and not at the guy on the corner of the street.
My condolences 🙏🏼🙏🏼to the family as I said before and I’ll say it again if you want something bad enough, you can get it thanks for your video is very informative❤️🛳️🦩⚓️
Hi Don
In Australia 18 is the legal age to drink. International waters might be different from the American system
Royal Caribbean has cameras EVERYWHERE. My son had a charging brick stolen in the teens club. We reported it. They had it back to us before we left the ship. They knew exactly who stole it and got it back. They will know exactly who was buying or how that young man got alcohol unless he was in a cabin. And you can have unlimited bottles of booze purchased for your cabin before the cruise. So many ways to get it.
Really sad about the young man that went overboard. It seems that if minors want to drink, they can always find a way to get it sadly..
I was on RCCL last month and my 14 year old was offered illegal substances and alcohol from other kids older siblings . -
With so many cameras on the ship can't they look and see who was giving this young man liquor. I hope for the sake of his family he is found and they have some comfort and peace.
Oh boy oh man
Don sorry the family is. Having to go through this sad situation
So many scammers. Got to be very careful

If he drink outside of US, then 20 is not underrate
I look forward to new shows on Holland.
Bavarians? 😀 Oh, you meant Bolivians! 😉
Just sad how ever he got alcohol and he did that to his family. Tourism is how many people is how they make money. Wish the red sea area could settle down.
Hey Don Good information and cruise news, For the 20 year old that was drunk when he jump I'm sure the family and friends he was with know the truth about how he got the alcohol. Don't think RCCL is at fault and everybody knows 20 yr old wants to drink he will get it.
Dealing with grief is always hard on the family even when it is related to natural causes so in this instance, the family is struggling. Sadly, the young man made choices that were tragic, but I doubt the crew was giving him the alcohol. So sad for all.
Juneau...those responding that "Juneau" doesnt want tourism is missing the point that opened the segment that the city is working with the cruise companies. There are individuals that are protesting. The city wants tourism and they are trying to work with cruise companies on what can work. Locals AND visitors are saying there are too many people on the streets in Juneau...and those are people off of ships with 1,000s of pax complaining of too many people. (That i find funny as i dont get choosing to go on a mega ship and complaining about crowds...but i digress) The tricky fact is there isn't limitless space in a town..but there are no walls to measure the space limits...rooms have max capacity most accept, venues have max capacity most accept, harder to figure out is...what is the limit of a town? Juneau is trying to figure it out and will get beat up for it, but they are trying to find where that limit is and control it. Again, visitors are complaining as well that there are too many people and that is not the experience Juneau wants either.
Drunk kid...its his fault
I know when we were in Grand Turk, they were handing out free shots for anyone over 18.
My guess is that he had a buddy buying the booze for him. It could have been that the bar tender let him slip by and purchase drinks, but my money is on a buddy buying the drinks. It is a sad ending any way it happened,
Hi Don we are ALL interested in what happened to the 8 passengers that were stranded on San thomas island Africa did they re board the ship thank you
