I feel like Metallica wasted a lot of epic riffs and song ideas on LuLu. A lot of these riffs would’ve made epic songs on a official Metallica record

What a waste of riffs

Lulu is a Lou Reed album in actuality, but for some reason it is officially a Metallica album. The Lou Reed fans say it's Metallica's, and the Metallica fans say it's Lou Reed's. Both sides disavow it, it's hilarious. "You can have that mess! We don't want it!" Lol

I think it's Metallica's more than Lou's since it has their tone, their production and their music whereas Lou just seems to have done the lyrics and vocals - don't think he wrote any of the music

As a diehard, unapologetic, Lou fan, I think it's some of Lou's greatest work.

I love the riffs from "the view"

If they would have kept these riffs without Lou it could have been a very dark Metallica album... Not bashing, much respect for Reed but damn this coulda been a great Metallica record in itself

there are some really cool riffs but Lou Reed is just terrible. I know people like to defend him as some poet and talk about how good the lyrics are but I didnt care. Lou sounded like my drunk neighbour just talking shit. if Im supposed to praise that and like it then I dont know what to tell you.

Lou Reed's style worked perfectly on his solo albums and on the Velvet Underground records, but it didnt on Lulu

He was ok back in the day. Not something I would Listen to but it’s not bad. But at this point he was so old he couldn’t sing for shit.

The beginning at Pumping Blood's pretty similar to ManUNkind's, just realise.

i have never really heard anything from Lulu but holy shit!!! some of those riffs are amazing!!! if they removed all lou reeds parts and it was just music and James singing his parts this would be a pretty damn good album

I honestly really liked this album but there was a lot of hate because the Lou Reed poetic lyrics, like Mistress Dread is one of my favourites on the record Lulu had really good riffs but anyways love ur videos ChainSaw :) \m/

Songs are haunting! Memorable! Good riffs! Some of them even heavy! (Mistress, P. Blood). As Metallica fan I can say that was their lowest point, but still I appreciate this album!

This would be awesome with no lou Reed

I played lulu in front of my small coffee table, now it's a DINNER TABLE

So much talked about art and that this is a tremendous piece of art. I took a shit earlier and in my eyes it was an amazing piece of art, I don't expect everyone to appreciate it though. One persons art is another persons shit!

It just didn’t work. Old man Lou ranting and shouting like grandpa Simpson. I get that it’s about a play, but whatever made them think the average listener would know that or care enough to know.

Dragon and Junior Dad (with James Hetfield playing the lead guitar, on it) are my favourite tracks from LULU (The View - 5,6/10)

I remember liking the views lot ...5 min long, riff heavy as hell...bad choice of words in the chorus if you ask me, which is a shame cause if you Listen to lou reed's lyrics are pretty cool...junior dad & cheat on me have good riffs, as well as dragon...but of course waaaaay to long! As an hardcore Metallica fan don't blame them for trying, it was kind of brave of them, even though...mistress dread...i never would have thought of getting bored from a thrash song!

Lulu gets way too much hate IMO. It's not perfect by any stretch. It feels underbaked at a lot of points. But the riffs and ambient soundscapes are really fucking cool and some of Lou Reed's lyrics are super interesting.

The jam they did with Ray Davies in the SAME DAMN show in 2009 would have been FAR better than this Lou Reed crap...

It's not a Metallica record... it's not a Lou Reed record.... it's a collaboration record! They own HALF the record. Metallica has half the rights, Lou Reed has half the rights. Therefore it's both their record

James is a perpetual riff machine. I am not concerned about exhausting ideas

I tried listening to the actual album and I thought it was absolute garbage, it's like those movies that have a really nice cover art and feature a big actor but are absolute cringe.

Wow, awful without Lou. Just a generic metal album without him, LONG LIVE LOU

This album is a fantastic piece of Art the way it is, with the great Lou Reed. Respect for the legend. This version is an insult to Art. How to ruin a Masterpiece.
