@Nai Birbduck Not canonically, apparently that was the original plan but for whatever reason Griffin decided to keep it as Lup instead. In my head, it’s always been short for Chaalupa though.

If I got boy twins I would be tempted to name them Dewey and Louie just because people would then assume that they were triplets but that Huey died but be too embarassed to ask about it.

im so glad they have grown/matured into the icons they are today. they're huge advocates for inclusivity and such, and it's why I'll always tell people that anyone can change their ableist/racist/etc ways.

I think it not only speaks to a general change in sensitivity, but also a change in the way that English language works culturally. I legitimately think that, since the 1990s even going as far up as since the early '10s, we as a society have drastically changed the way that words are used. As someone who is autistic and gay, I used to use those as descriptors for things that were annoying and dumb (i was in middle school at this time) and have since noticed a general shift in the way both words are used from negative to neutral or even positive. Hell, reading a piece of literature written in 2013 almost feels like a piriod piece that must be read in historical context when some *protagonists* speak. Language has shifted swiftly in the last decade, weather you read it as good or bad speaks about you, but it's undeniable that English is malleable, by culture or by reform, and change is slow enough to be unnoticeable and yet fast enough to be shocking!

@@josephharold808 I suppose it probably has something to do with the rise of internet; being exposed to so many different kinds of cultures and folks, especially interacting via writing, means language adapts so much faster than before, when you'd only speak to other cultures very rarely. Whereas back even a few decades it would take something like an influential book or some TV show to alter the use of words en masse, now even stupid things like "yeet" can be spread across the globe in a matter of days.

Sometimes I look at my list of (very extremely Jewish) potential baby names and worry about how growing up would be with those names (Tzipporah, Chaim, Yaakov, etc.) but then I think about this bit and I feel a little better.

dont know if theyve addressed it specifically but they do say that new listeners should skip the first 100 episodes or so bc they were full of offensive comedy that does not reflect their current worldview, if that helps bc yeah they used to be Sometimes Pretty Gross at the very beginning, very much 2010 nerdbro energy around the good bits :/ theyve done pretty good at outgrowing it, afaik? like i totally started towards the end so whenever i find the classic bits with gross things its a total shock
