Mathews VXR 31.5 Set Up And Review | Why I Made The Switch

Ойын-сауық

I've been a strictly Hoyt shooter for the past few years. See why I decided to step out of my comfort zone this year..
Some specs I failed to mention in the video.
-The bow is set to 29" @ 72lbs.
-Shooting a 440 grain Easton Axis 340.
-Chrono'd @ 295fps
This is my first KZread edit and any feedback, positive or negative, would be appreciated. If you liked the video be sure to give it a thumbs up! I plan on doing more archery related films in the near future and if that's something that interests you, hit that subscribe button!
Thanks for watching!

Bow companies are at its peak in technology you can't go wrong with any. For me Hoyt has the best carbon fiber riser for those cold days plus the warranty is plus.

I tried the Mathews, Hoyt, and Prime flagships this year, and I chose the VXR for the same reasons. It is ridiculously quiet and stable (precise), which I feel are two of the most important features for hunting. The only bow that I feel competes is the Carbon RX-4 for the weight savings (The OTHER important factor) if one is doing long hikes or stalking, but the price on that is brutal.

Mathews makes a great bow. However they let down a lot of faithful followers when they dropped the 33 ATA Traverse from their lineup. Most hoped they would upgrade the Traverse to the Switchable Weight Cams and keep the bow in the lineup. The Traverse in most Mathews faithful minds is the better bow.

Hey man, this is probably dumb but I was wondering what you're doing with your old hoyt, now that you have a vxr? I've always wanted to get a newer bow, especially a hoyt but I've never been able to afford one. Not even any other companies bows, I've never really been able to afford, I'm 21 and recently lost both of my parents and that left me taking care of my younger brother and sister (14 and 16) and things have just been tough for most of my life now with losing them to top it off, I love shooting my bow I have now just as a release and to clear my mind. It's an old bear whitetail 2 and I was just wondering what you was planning on doing with it. Didnt know if maybe you was going to donate it or anything but if you are. I could really use it man. It would honestly be life changing for me. I know I probably sound like a bum or something but I just thought I would ask

Shot Hoyts for decades. Just sold my Hyperforce and will try this bow as well as the PSE. If it shoots better than the Ventum and PSE, I will buy it. That’s huge for me, because I regularly just grab the latest Hoyt and never try another bow.

  • @willcrain6786

This past fall I ran a 12” front and a 6” back bar in the woods. I didn’t find it any less maneuverable than your typical 6” front stabilizer and I probably did 10-15 run and gun type hunts. But this fall I am minimizing my entire archery hunting arsenal since I’ll be hunting more public and putting my bow through the paces. I also want to leave my TightSpot quiver on at all times, so what I will be running is the BeeStinger MicroHex 12” with a counterslide dovetail bracket. The bracket allows the stabilizer to compensate the weight of your quiver and you can shift it forwards or backwards to balance your bow. It’s a great product! www.beestinger.com/Stabilizers/Hunting/MicroHex™-Counter-Slide-w-Dovetail-Mount.aspx

I run 12” front stab, & 8” back bar/stab. Longer the better in my opinion, but shoot what works best for you and your archery needs. Generally speaking your arrow is going to be you longest part on your bow, and with whatever stab you choose, you will always be inside the arrow in turns of footprint on your bow. Only exception wouldn’t you running a long 28-31” stab bar out front for target shootings.

762 x 51 itsdepending on the string angle that you like and type of hunting. I shoot a Halon 32 and but bc of some of my hunting style like ground blind and spot and stalk on open pasture whitetails the 28 suits me better. I’m 5-9 and at 27.5 draw. To me it didn’t seem all that much of a steeper string angle.

I personally shoot the 28 with a 27 inch draw and the string angle is not to steep with their bigger cam with switchweight technology so it will not be a problem. It is also balanced very well and also are fine if the draw length is longer than the actual ata length.

Ernesto Delao on most brand bows I am a 29.5” draw with the exception of Mathews. I feel they run a little long and I shoot this bow at 29” which feels perfect. I purchased the 31.5 before ever shooting the 28 and when I went back to shoot the 28 it felt awesome. Many of the same characteristics as the 31.5 but just felt more compact and more like a hunting rig. If you do a lot of bow hunting out of a blind I think the 28 might suit you well. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big Chris Bee fan but I shoot whatever bow feels best to me, it could have been PSE, Prime, Bear, Elite, etc. The VXR felt the best so I bought it. And the only two BeeReal products I showed in the video was the hat and the sticker on my stabilizer. I don’t think that’s copying him in any way.
