    Shot Hoyts for decades. Just sold my Hyperforce and will try this bow as well as the PSE. If it shoots better than the Ventum and PSE, I will buy it. That’s huge for me, because I regularly just grab the latest Hoyt and never try another bow.

    Mathews makes a great bow. However they let down a lot of faithful followers when they dropped the 33 ATA Traverse from their lineup. Most hoped they would upgrade the Traverse to the Switchable Weight Cams and keep the bow in the lineup. The Traverse in most Mathews faithful minds is the better bow.

  • @jamesmcrae7138
    @jamesmcrae71384 жыл бұрын

    Changing mods allows for changes in draw length, draw weight, and let-off percentage. For example, if you want a 29 inch draw, 70 lbs with 80 % let-off, you would look at the chart and select the appropriate mod for those specs.

    I tried the Mathews, Hoyt, and Prime flagships this year, and I chose the VXR for the same reasons. It is ridiculously quiet and stable (precise), which I feel are two of the most important features for hunting. The only bow that I feel competes is the Carbon RX-4 for the weight savings (The OTHER important factor) if one is doing long hikes or stalking, but the price on that is brutal.

    Hey man, this is probably dumb but I was wondering what you're doing with your old hoyt, now that you have a vxr? I've always wanted to get a newer bow, especially a hoyt but I've never been able to afford one. Not even any other companies bows, I've never really been able to afford, I'm 21 and recently lost both of my parents and that left me taking care of my younger brother and sister (14 and 16) and things have just been tough for most of my life now with losing them to top it off, I love shooting my bow I have now just as a release and to clear my mind. It's an old bear whitetail 2 and I was just wondering what you was planning on doing with it. Didnt know if maybe you was going to donate it or anything but if you are. I could really use it man. It would honestly be life changing for me. I know I probably sound like a bum or something but I just thought I would ask

    So after 15yrs I'm getting a new now coming from hoyt im really leaning on the VXR 31.5. I like a shorter bow but at 29.5 DL the shop recommends the 31.5 over the 28. Lots of guys saying now go with the 28 model even you. You still think tht and why?

  • @willcrain6786
    @willcrain67864 жыл бұрын

    Ernesto Delao on most brand bows I am a 29.5” draw with the exception of Mathews. I feel they run a little long and I shoot this bow at 29” which feels perfect. I purchased the 31.5 before ever shooting the 28 and when I went back to shoot the 28 it felt awesome. Many of the same characteristics as the 31.5 but just felt more compact and more like a hunting rig. If you do a lot of bow hunting out of a blind I think the 28 might suit you well. I shoot local 3D’s so I went with the 31.5 instinctively.

    I appreciate your feedback, Andrew. So what’s funny is I bought the VXR two weeks before New Years Day (the day Chris announced that he switched to Mathews). I honestly was dumbfounded and shocked when he announced it. It just so happened that I had been shooting Hoyt for years before I started watching Chris Bee and started shooting Mathews when he did. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big Chris Bee fan but I shoot whatever bow feels best to me, it could have been PSE, Prime, Bear, Elite, etc. The VXR felt the best so I bought it. And the only two BeeReal products I showed in the video was the hat and the sticker on my stabilizer. I don’t think that’s copying him in any way. He sells his merchandise so people will wear/use it.

    762 x 51 itsdepending on the string angle that you like and type of hunting. I shoot a Halon 32 and but bc of some of my hunting style like ground blind and spot and stalk on open pasture whitetails the 28 suits me better. I’m 5-9 and at 27.5 draw. To me it didn’t seem all that much of a steeper string angle.

  • @andrewmeyer1086
    @andrewmeyer10864 жыл бұрын

    I personally shoot the 28 with a 27 inch draw and the string angle is not to steep with their bigger cam with switchweight technology so it will not be a problem. It is also balanced very well and also are fine if the draw length is longer than the actual ata length.

    Do you run 12 and 8 stabs in the deer woods or do you downsize for sake of mobility? It's something I've been thinking about trying.

  • @willcrain6786
    @willcrain67864 жыл бұрын

    This past fall I ran a 12” front and a 6” back bar in the woods. I didn’t find it any less maneuverable than your typical 6” front stabilizer and I probably did 10-15 run and gun type hunts. But this fall I am minimizing my entire archery hunting arsenal since I’ll be hunting more public and putting my bow through the paces. I also want to leave my TightSpot quiver on at all times, so what I will be running is the BeeStinger MicroHex 12” with a counterslide dovetail bracket. The bracket allows the stabilizer to compensate the weight of your quiver and you can shift it forwards or backwards to balance your bow. It’s a great product! www.beestinger.com/Stabilizers/Hunting/MicroHex™-Counter-Slide-w-Dovetail-Mount.aspx

  • @wesboothe6507
    @wesboothe65074 жыл бұрын

    I run 12” front stab, & 8” back bar/stab. Longer the better in my opinion, but shoot what works best for you and your archery needs. Generally speaking your arrow is going to be you longest part on your bow, and with whatever stab you choose, you will always be inside the arrow in turns of footprint on your bow. Only exception wouldn’t you running a long 28-31” stab bar out front for target shootings.

    Nice riding! That 250 looks like a blast! I'm going back and forth between picking up one of these or a YZ250X this Spring, hard decisions! How has the 250XC been for you in the long run?

  • @willcrain6786

    I got this bike in December of 2014 and still have it! It currently has 190 hours on it and still running as strong as the day I got it (of course I've put a top end in or two). I'll give you a list of things that I don't/didn't like about the bike and a list of the things I do like about the bike. Cons: 1) The 2015 xc models come with 4CS forks which are absolutely horrible out of the box. They deflect every rock and root and blow through the stroke when landing. If you plan on getting a 250 XC I would aim to buy one 2017 and newer with the new AER fork that is incredible. 2) The electric start (mainly just the factory battery) lasted around 75-80 hours. I have a new battery installed and it won't start but that doesn't really bother me cause I don't mind kicking my bike. 3) Compared to the 2017+ XC frames (2 strokes) the ergonomic design of this 2015 frame really feels like you are sitting in the bike instead of on top. I really enjoyed riding my friends 2018 250 xc because I felt like I see over the top of everything and be more nimble. Pros: 1) It has electric start haha. It's one of those things that I don't really need but is nice to have. I know the YZ250X doesn't have electric start but for a lot of people it doesn't really matter. 2) Once the suspension is tuned correctly (I sent my entire suspension off to Kreft Moto in Texas and spent $1400) it handles like a dream. It's plush and nimble and works the way I want it to. 3) The power is never enough to scare you, but never not enough. I've played around with all the powervalve springs and you can really mess around with how the motor acts and how hard the powerband hits. In all honesty I think both are great bikes and if I were to do it all over again I'd pick up a new YZ250X. For $1000-2000 cheaper I think the YZ is the better bang for the buck. Of course there isn't electric start but the KYB forks from factory handle unreal, and the power of the new YZ's is so much fun. KTM is definitely higher in price and has its strong points but I don't see any justification spending so much money on a 250 2 stroke. What it really comes down to is what color you really like and how deep your pockets are:) Hope that helped.
