    For what it’s worth.. I’ll preface this comment by saying I’ve been a diehard Hoyt guy for 5+ years now. I went to my local Scheels tonight to shoot the VXR and RX3 side by side. I shot the VXR first and that was my mistake. This bow is stupid quiet, like a mouse fart quiet. The Hoyt sounded like a rifle going off compared to it. The hand shock is absolutely none on the VXR where the Hoyt has some noticeable post shot vibration. I was able to anchor with the VXR with ease, but I had to hunker down quite a bit with the RX3. The only real area the RX3 shined was draw cycle. I felt it didn’t stack weight like the VXR. But that’s minor. Conclusion: I’ll be ordered a VXR 31.5 in ambush green next month. 👍🏻

    Glenn Prince Indeed it is. I’ve always refrained from “bow bashing” like I see many other guys do. I think technology in archery has somewhat plateaued in the last 5 years and regardless of brand, I think any bow on the market today is capable of getting the job done. It’s just a matter of finding the subtle differences between each that you like/dislike. I just posted a VXR 31.5 Review video (from the perspective of a Hoyt guy) give it a watch if you can 👍🏻

    @Boxing 101 I personally haven't been able to shoot anything but PSE as the other brands don't get stocked for women with shorter draw lengths and less poundage. Had two places say, "oh you can try it we'll take it down as far as it will go (53lbs and 28 draw), and I'll help you pull it". Seriously??!! I couldn't say I hated Mathews or Hoyt or Elite... the 3 I tried. I just couldn't feel the darned thing in its entirety myself. PSE does make some great bows and I personally enjoyed learning on my Chaos. The back wall was spongy but over all it was a good little bow to begin the basics on. Shot true, stayed tuned, and lasted 3 years. At the time I wasn't sure if I wanted to jump into hunting or target only. Turns out it did ok for both, though I'd definitely say it was a hunting blow on the lean. I've been trying for months to find someone to help a gal out... but I guess only men do archery!!?? Puh! It's surprising how nonexistent women are on KZread for archery as well. There's a few, but mostly just competition stuff. I haven't found a serious female youtuber archer who reviews and talks about the art and finesse of hunting/ target shooting yet. Seems like most are just barbie bow-babes. (No offense) but I'm serious about this and it's sad when I can't get anyone to take me serious just because I'm a woman who needs a bow set up at 40lbs. The aim is to get stronger but gosh I'd like to get the bow I want to go forward on. Makes me laugh, I even say my budget (which is in line with competition shell out) and even that doesn't budge these NM archery tech/ sales guys. Sorry for the rant... I'd LOVE to try ANY Mathews... except a child's. I'll keep trying but gosh it's depressing. I mean is it really offensive to the archery world for women to shoot bows? Carry bows that they can try? I guess I figured after Hunger games and that rage the spike in women's interest in it (and there was) would have allowed for better selection in stores by now. I love this channel, so far he's the only one who's responded to me and tried to help me at least as much as he can. I've put out over 200 inquiries on chat threads and KZread channels. My husband just got his Elite Kure... he ended up ordering all we'd need to set it up so I could try it. It will likely be next year before I've been able to try the ones I'm interested in, compare, and decide. Maybe longer... or never...I can't buy a bow to try it. I'm hoping someone out there will read these rants and give me some advise as to where we could go. We're willing to travel up to 200 miles for a good recommendation. So far... nothing. Seems this problem is in every archery shop within that distance of me. Like I said I'm serious, this the rant and I'll keep knocking until some door opens. Until then me and my Chaos will just keep shooting...lol. I'm not settling for something less than I'm looking for with my budget. Too much money to spend on a bow to settle on. Thanks for your response, I truly hope to try this bow in the 28 axel range or 31...I like what I see from Mathews.

    just getting back in to archery and i bought this as my ONE ALL, BE ALL bow. this bow is insane, i tried a few at my local shop and just kept coming back to the VXR, so as a beginner in the compound bow scene, this bow is a very solid choice. i went all out with telescopic stabilizer, 5 pin adjustable sight, 5 arrow holder in an all black finish. the draw is extremely smooth, the valley is not too deep, and i think in the back country this is going to be able to take a beating cause i am not easy on my gear. enjoy the VXR!

    I’m not a Matthews guy, never have been. Out of all the 2020 bows I shot. The vxr is the best hands down. It’s the only bow I could feel a noticeable enough difference between it and my 2013 obsession. Very quiet, I didn’t know I was drawing a 70lb bow .... excellent. Kudos to Matthews. It’s rare I shoot a new bow from year to year and go wow . This one made me go wow

    Thanks for your bow reviews. I'm debating between a VXR 31.5 and a Traverse. I spot and stalk antelope, deer, and elk in Idaho. I am still fairly new to hunting (3rd year) and it's hard for me to tell much difference when shooting these bows bare at 10 yds. Perhaps the Traverse is a little louder with a bit of a twang? Or could that be the wicked threads vs zebras? 29" DL. 70# DW. 85%. I'd appreciate your biased opinion on which one you'd choose and why. Thank you

    I like the traverse all around but I might be biased due to having a long draw length. Theoretically the traverse would balence better due to the longer ata but they are both engineered so well that it is very close. I recommend shooting both and maybe a vertix and get what shoots the best for you.

    I noticed that. In this video, assuming 20 grains on the string, it wasn't really making IBO with the 30" draw. But with the 28" draw, it was right at or even over IBO. That's assuming the 28" is actually 28" but my Triax is pretty close so this might be as well.

    How do u think it compares to the traverse on how well it holds and shoots I have the traverse but I'm thinking of getting one of these instead but what's your thoughts with the riser being longer and all just curious it looks like the riser is more reflexed I think Is the word I'm looking for

  • @InsideOutPrecision

    @InsideOutPrecision

    It holds every bit as well as the traverse in my opinion, but the traverse has over a half inch longer brace height, making it more forgiving on the shots where you don't do your part as well as you should. The shorter brace height is result of the more reflexed riser.

    You said the Traverse is one of your favorite bow. I’m in the market for a new bow, I shoot 90% all year long on a target and 10% for hunting. Between the Traverse and the VXR 31.5, which one do you think is more accurate at 50 and 70 yards and better overall for target and 3D? Thank’s and very nice review as usual.

    I understand your points, but I shoot target 90% of the time. I know that the VXR have the same length riser than the Traverse but the Traverse have 33" ATA and 6"5/8 brace height... I lot of person seems to by agree that the Traverse is one of the top bow for: Hunting/target and 3D. As my shop have not both bow, I’m curius to have an opinion from a person who have shoot both.

    Is it practical/reasonable to have an off-season draw weight of around 60lbs for high rep practice and switch mods to 75lbs for hunting season (assuming new arrows and sight positions)? I look forward to visiting you and getting whatever Mathews has for 2021.

    Great Review, gave me some things to consider. I went to my local shop and shot about 4 or 5 bows. I was torn between the NXT 33 and the and the 31.5 VXR. Man that PSE draw is very smooth but I ended up going with the VXR. It was so quiet and fast. I loaded it up with my HHA Kingpin, Hamskea Hybrid Hunter Pro, TORX front and rear stab. This thing is smacking, it's quiet and wicked fast. I have a lightly used The Block target and this thing is punching through it and no I'm not shooting the exact same point. I went with the 31.5 over the 28 just for the string angle, I have a 30 inch draw and the 28 angle was just a little too aggressive for me. Again thank you.

    Luke Noble so the bow itself I ended paying right at $950. Because I bought the bow from the store a lot of times shops will discount your accessories which they did for me. So the front and rear stab was about $150, the HHA they couldn’t work too much on the price so it was right at $200. The rest luckily was an open package so I got it for a really good price of $125 normally $170+. I should have bought a quiver while I was there but kind forgot like a dope. Ended up ordering a tight spot from another shop and I’m still waiting on it to come in. Mathews also has a great tripod stand that mounts onto your front limp pocket which works amazing and your bottom cam doesn’t contact the ground. Part of the reason I did this set up is so I could swap the mods. I shoot 29.5 draw and 75lbs for deer/elk then I switch the mods on the Mathews and the wheel on the HHA to 65 pounds for spring turkey. Kinda like having two bows. Sorry if that was more than you asked for and I hope I answered your question. I love the bow totally worth it to me.

    Awesome video 👍👌 I have watched this a dozen times or more. Well my local shop finally got one of these in and it balances nicely. There is a slight bit of vibration, not much but it's still there definitely less vibration than the Traverse or the vertix. It holds good and is not as top heavy as the Traverse. It is smooth not as smooth as the Traverse, much better than the traix or vertix. The grip is money just like the Traverse and vertix. Just hate the $#it green color (it's the only color the shop is stocking 4 months out for a different color).

    Awesome review, I'm on the fence between this and the Axius Ultra. Im 6'5 and have a 31 inch draw, so I'd be concerned about the string angle. I'd like to not have to move my face into the string to get it into my nose, but not sure I buy the hype that the shorter ATA Mathews shoots the same as a 34-35 inch ATA bow

  • @InsideOutPrecision

    @InsideOutPrecision

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well the ultra will be more forgiving due to its larger brace height, and the string angle won't be as severe at your draw length. I'd recommend just shooting them both and seeing which you prefer

    You mentioned late in this video that the Traverse was still included in their 2020 bows. Any idea where I could find one new? I shot one in 2019 but ended up buying a different bow since the price was slashed by $300 - $400 during pre season sale. I love that bow but can't get the Traverse out of my head.

    I know I'm kinda late to the party, but have a question about the string angle. I have a 29.75 draw length, and I really like this bow., but am unable to touch my nose to the string. I do find especially 40 yards and out, I find my head searching sometimes to line everything up. Do you feel its something I just need to get use too or maybe another solution? Thanks.

  • @InsideOutPrecision

    @InsideOutPrecision

    4 жыл бұрын

    One isn't any better or worse than the other. Sure you can get a little more speed out of the VXR, but the Traverse is smoother to draw and has over a half inch taller brace height, making it a little more forgiving. I also like the string angle at full draw better on the traverse because I shoot a 30" draw length. Like I said, I don't think one is inherently better, they're just different.

    Nice looking bow. It seems your draw cycle with this video is really low which would be a huge issue for someone like me who shoots a Stan Perfex long neck thumb release. Doing so will cause unintended releases as that thumb hits one's body. Was there any reason for the low drawing or was it just something you didn't think much about since you were using an index finger release?

    Trevor Harris that explains it. That’s really good to know. When overbowed with # that’s likely what archers do. I’ve had that same problem when drawing in extreme cold weather and up a tree with no wind protection. 70# on ground in decent weather feels like nothing.
