Exactly what I was thinking. Why did he ever need Rolfe? whatever secret sauce AVGN lost seems to be all there in his raging and real love for NES games (which Rolfe never really had). He truly is the real Nerd and should've done it by himself from the start.

My Vita has become an emulation machine for Capcom/SNK arcade games, SNES, GBA etc. but I also find myself just jumping into Contra Hard Corps and Castlevania Bloodlines all the time when I just need something quick to play/beat, Genesis is great for that really.

I have some pretty serious setup envy going on here. I had a genesis (it was called the mega drive over here) growing up. We had the menacer light gun, I thought I was the absolute shit having that thing 🤣. Great video guys 😊, got a good giggle outta some of the cut ins.

Mike beat Fester's Quest a couple times on stream, and for the first time those biters would all got free hits on him because he genuinely couldn't figure out that they burrow under walls, and the second time was a year or two later and he seemed to remember nothing about the game, and I mean literally nothing as if it was a blind playthrough, but this time he figured out the biters immediately like a normal person. Something is off about him. (I don't think the forgetting indicates a memory problem or anything, a lot of people don't realize that forgetting things is something that your brain does on purpose to clean up your mental garbage and not some kind of mental deterioration.)

9:21 In the snes version of MK2 you can pause in single player mode between fights when your character is ascending the kombat tower, but you can't pause during fights. That's such an odd design choice, i never understood it.

I have known about everdrive cartridges for a very long time but never tried one. I am so curious to try one now after hearing you guys discuss your own so many times. Any suggestions what the best retailer is?

Mike looks super tired in this video. I can tell around his eyes. Definitely a lack of sleep and his brain is probably not processing what he's suppose to do because it's not working right.

When EJ gets to the N64 Zeldas, you should try out the Recompilation tool that just came out. You can have a working EXE of Majora with basically no emulation errors or anything like that, and have crazy stuff like raytraced shadows working ingame.

the logi mx keys is a good desktop version of the macbook keyboard there's also the K380s but for the price you can get a mx keys and have a slightly better experience

To be fair, the hit box on the spikes is bullshit. You can't be anywhere near them.

My friend shipped me their macbook air M1 that they used for like 2 months(they wanted a gaming laptop), the shift key got stuck down to where I had to get like a lens wipe and use the corner of the packaging to lift the key, and it literally never done it again. it's so odd.

@@RedCowArcade I find the M30 doesn't work for Master System unless I put it into 3 button mode, you can do that at any time by holding the MODE button for 3 seconds, The blue light WILL NOT flash like the manual suggests. (at least not on the latest firmware)

X5, in the Mega Retron HD, with the M30 2.4ghz and I notice some odd bugs here and there, Aladin, for instance, won't work at all with the M30 unless I start the game with a WIRED controller and then change it out for the m30 receiver. (But I found out the hard way that if you reach the Continue screen, the m30 stops working again, and plugging in a wired controller instantly selects "Quit" like Bimmy having a bad-ending at the beach.)

I totally agree, feels wwise the M30 is sooo much better. The dpad feels incredible on that thing. I've luckily never had issues with any of the 8bitdo controllers but I just use them all with emulators, but they do make a lot of controllers so I'm sure there can be defects. I have 2 SN30s, an N30, 2 SN30Pro, a pro 2, 2 m30s, all incredible, their Snes and Sega controllers are the best ones you can get in terms of feel and durability from my experience.

How far away are you sitting , do you really need wireless? I just use my original wired controllers.

Mac build quality is okay, but it's nowhere near what it should be for the price. I always get the 3 year protection plan for like $400, because something is guaranteed to break and cost more than that within 3 years of regular use.

I'm not an emulator person. It seems to me that people who do emulate games just complain about every issue under the sun. Nothing against EJ and Frankie. I love you guys. But christ, do you guys buy a lot of unnecessary things then complain about them 😅

I'm betting your m30 is in 6 button mode. You probably need to switch it to 3 button mode for master system.

My experience with Mortal Kombat II on the arcade is first three or so opponents are pretty easy. Then the CPU starts cheating and it starts reacting to what you do the absolute millisecond you do it. The home ports are far more forgiving plus they have difficulty settings as well.

The thing with Matei is this. He's a really determined gamer, but he's stupid. He will miss easy things that you and I see on ways to play the game. But he will just grind it over and over for hours until he either figures it out or does it his way. He's gott stop screaming tho hes in his mid 40s relax.. don't need a heart attack

It's an ego thing, he thinks he's too good for these games but the games themselves give him the reality check that he's only a good player when compared to other people just as mediocre as him and that's why he gets pissed off , part of why he stays away from anything competitive. Also age is a factor, your react slower and learn slower except when you are fit and healthy and didn't let your brain become mush (there's 50 year olds with reaction times as good or better than 20 year olds)
