Wait! What!? A threaded film canister? I’ve shot thousands of rolls of film, and sold tens of thousands more, and don’t remember ever seeing threaded plastic canisters. Metal canisters? Yes. But never plastic. You’ve blown my mind. I love every bit of this build. Great find with the ‘router’ base thingy. The saber is awesome as well. One day I hope to be good enough (re: rich enough) to own my own lightsaber. Now I’m equipped with more inspiration to (very slowly) build more things from nothing.

This is one of my favourite videos you have ever put out. Beautiful display peice using a miryad of techniques and materials and it never ceases to amaze me how you just pull out some random greeblies seemly at random and without bairley paying attention and yet they just magically fit together like magic and just instantly look right. I always really enjoy your editing and choice of music in your videos just as much as the thing you're building aswel, moreso than almost any other channel im subscribed to here on youtube. Whoever edits the videos is really good at it and your skill Brian for building star wars wall displays seems like you were born for it lol.

wow! I can't tell you how much that means to both myself and my wife Carissa. Truly, thank you for the kind words. This really keeps us motivated!
Wow!! That is an amazing display. The possibilities are endless with scrap materials and fabricated/etched acrylic. Very nice adaptation from table/desktop display to a wall mount. The laser cut design patterns are very cool. The backlighting grabs just right amount of attention. Fantastic build Brian.

Great episode. first off love the look of the light saber it self, Dennis is truly a master craftsman. The light saber display stand build is a work of art as well, its absolutely beautifully done. So Mr. Thompson this build hit the mark of excellence once again.

Thumbnail. There is a display lit up. Now add a quiet motor to rotate the glass looking back. :) 09:56 That part. Good build. Bigger then I thought.

I listen to your podcast too. I have really noticed in the last few episodes that you seem more at ease and like you found your joy again. I have found myself really engaging and enjoying your recent content more as well. That's what made me notice it. Then I connected it with changes you've shared on your podcast. I'm happy to see you enjoying things.

It's so nice to see Dennis finally putting his skills to the test and making the lightsabers that we knew he could make. Such a great tribute to his work. And what a lovely lightsaber display as well. I love how you took the rope lights and then covered all of it up with the black cover, nice finishing touch. Thanks for video!

The best part about your videos, Brian, is how you put yourself into the mindset of a Lucasfilm designer to see what they may do on a set of a Star Wars film or series. So good Brother. Fist bumps from Canada :) But I thought for sure you may light up the orange button as well?

Just a thought, I was thinking you could wire the orange button to light up when someone removes the light saber from the stand. The addition of a warning buzzer with the orange flashing light would work as well to add a little fun effect to the build.
Looks Fantastic!

Even though I'm a Star Trek guy and I've built a TOS themed workstation, I still dabble with Star Wars, and at the moment I'm considering a Star Wars themed workstation for my computer classroom, complete with display areas for my models etc. I'm considering a wrap around unit to minimise floor space, with a straight section against the wall on my left (containing a piano keyboard under a lift-up desktop), the Lenovo PC standing on front of me as I face my classes, and a small area to my left for additional workspace when marking papers, lesson planning etc. I'm thinking of something loosely based on the computer station in the Death Star Detention area, but with the outer uprights being glass display areas. My Lightsaber and blaster displays will be worked into the whole design. What do you think?@@TheSmugglersRoom
Thanks!

I struggled with that, I originally planned to weather it, but I really loved how it turned out so I just decided to keep it clean. But it was a struggle 🤣
Awesome!!! Love all of your work. I was wondering what you used for the backing of the "vent" lights?
@TheSmugglersRoom
Ай бұрын
THank you! The backlight is all from that same flexible LED that we used around the center circle. I just wove it around the grill and it lit very nicely.
Did I miss the "change" where no light was put behind the Amber Industrial pushbutton lamp (atop the infamous threaded film canister)? Still, mighty fine project, sir . Thank you for sharing.

Gr8 video. Now with it being the 60th anniversary of Dr Who on the 23rd Nov. How about a suggestion . A Dr /wars crossover. How about building a sonic screwdriver that could work in both worlds. Heck even a sonic saber
@TheSmugglersRoom

that's a great idea. I wish we had time in the schedule coming up to do that, but maybe sometime in the near future we can!
Rig up a Lightsaber as a wall light with an on/off dimmer switch or motion sensor. Mount it near a door or above a door frame like in a theater room cause I don't think I have seen that yet unless I haven't gone thru all of your videos.
