Thanks man! It's a small project, but a good step in getting back in the swing of things!
I’m so very glad you’re coming back… I sympathize with your loss. It happened to me the same way recently. It’s so mind boggling and heart breaking. This is your therapy!

Thank you! Happy to be back at it!
Never fails. I get "builders block" and you come out with a video. I bought one of those boxes after you used it in another build months ago and its been sitting (acting as a greeblie tray, doh!) waiting for me to do something with it. Didn't think of making 2 panels! So did I get something out of this video? Definitely!!!!

there you go my friend! do it!
My Smuggler withdrawals have been slightly sated. Good to have you back. Love the sexy sweeping of aluminum shavings. 🔥🔥🔥 The build is coming along nicely. After seeing this early (benefit of being a Smuggler’s Guild member) Jamie’s hard drive motor greeblie inspired me to make my own version. I’m a happy geek.

LOL. Sorry it wasn't more, just getting back in the swing of things. More to come. Thanks as always Deanna!
Hey Brian it's good to see you back at it, we've missed your videos. Much love❤❤

Thank you Richard! Much appreciated!
I really enjoyed the little comments that you were making while working that you left in this video. "well that got everywhere.." I talk to myself in a similar fashion while working on projects. Helps to understand your thought process and adds a bit of humor! Adds a relatable element to the video.

Thanks bro! It's a simple one, but i needed something easy to get back into the shop.
Oh man, that gratuitous aluminum swarth footage is to die for 😍 I wonder if you had access to the inside of thst large lens if you could illuminate a color transparency with a image on it so if you looked inside you would see somthing not sure if it's possible but my monkey Bain would see that and want to look inside lol

Ooh! I love the idea of a transparency in the lens. Yes, that particular lens would break down into at least 3 parts. I have several smaller projection tv lenses I’ve been looking to do something with. I might just need to keep this in mind.

LOL!! Gratuitous Aluminum Swarth!!! I LOVE THAT!!! LOL As for the lens, yes, we have many plans coming soon for you on that ;)
Pretty cool sir! ☺

There should be a way to put some kind of LCD screen under that giant lens so it shows through with some kind of random display, like an old radar scope or something. Still love seeing you using that packing foam trick.

don't you worry my friend, we are a long way from being done on the lens. LEDs, graphics, and more are coming!
I’m late, I know, but this was a cool and simple build, which I love because it’s the little things that help sell the initial look you’re going for!

Thanks Jamie! Don’t worry, I found the perfect place for the others in the room build!
I saw that big lens and thought how cool would it be to use it like a peep hole into a smaller scene of something going on inside the box.

oooh! that's a cool idea!
As always looks great! Have you ever used one of those type lenses to project something from a wall or prop? A logo? a schematic on to a wall? The princess asking for help?.. personally I think a schematic would be very cool..
Thanks!

Thank you Jason. No, not the first, we try to be very selective on the sponsorships. If you all are going to take time to watch our content, we want to be sure we are only sharing products we love. Have a great day!
Uuh, I remember those projectors. They had three objectives, one for each colour (RGB). They where huge, heavy and costed a fortune. This is a neat improvement for the whole build! I would probably overcomplicate things again and set a RGB-LED-Matrix behind the objective and use it as a real projector again.
@TheSmugglersRoom
Жыл бұрын
You had to install them too huh? LOL! I installed many of them over the years. I was always afraid the joists would fail and one of those monsters would fall!!! And don't you worry, there will be over-complication of the Lens with LED's just you wait!

@@TheSmugglersRoom My father owned a Radio and Television Shop and sold one of those Projectors in the eighties to a wealthy customer. I've seen it after the installation. The picture was insanely good (well compared to the old CRT TVs and VCRs) but I was still a child.
I’m surprised I haven’t shared this before. But, two things you can do for diffusion. 1: you can sand the LED lens. I use like a 400 grit. Softens up the light a lot. Quick and easy…as long as you’re not talking dozens of LEDs. They also sell diffused LEDs. 2: I’ve sanded the rear element of my lenses before. A little sanding (and cleaning) diffuses a little. Details behind still show through. More heavy sanding leads to a very diffuse/soft light. I guess a 3: you can add details, aka greeblies, behind the lens. Then add LEDs off to the side of the lens, shining on the greeblies. Then you get well lit systems behind the lens. 4?: why not. For a project I’m working on now, I’ve laser cut/engraved a matte white (translucent) acrylic disk to be placed behind the lens. That is going to be backlit.
Thanks very much for this! It has been a pleasure to watch this, and also a relief to see new content just to know you're OK. You did indeed spark a specific idea by a chance comment, as well as giving renewed encouragement to build... and that it can be a good idea to start back with something smaller and readily achievable. Bless you both!

I have three of those large crt projector lenses myself. I have been trying to think of a good use for them. Along with all the other junk in my room of requirement.

Hola buenas noches desde España Canarias... Me gustaría que pusiera el idioma español para poder entenderte
Dear Brian have you yet built a imperial probebot as the big black probe that appears in " Empire strikes back " ? And have you blueprints and schematics to sell ? In France it's very difficult to find such thing when you want craft Starwars items but if you know an european fan of the Lucas ' univers that could share blueprints with me I am very interested to know an e-mail adress and a name ! Thanks you Brian to all yours shows !
