Kyrie played in the playoffs Boston 2 years ago and he was swept while being completely shut down after game 1. He's not big or strong enough to play against the dawgs in Boston. He's not going to "bounce back" or "turn it around". His only chance of having an effective game is if he plays like a true point while he has the ball and play like a catch and shoot wing while off the ball. The more he dribbles and drives, the easier it is for Boston to body him and make his shots difficult.

Jrue averaged 20, 5, 7 his last year with the Bucks where he was the 2nd/3rd option, mainly 2nd with Middleton being hurt often. He was still making all defensive teams. He’s just a dawg. He wasn’t trying to get more than 20 points, because he was playing in the system. Kyrie averaged 26, 5, 5. He doesn’t play good defense. He’s been better in these playoffs, lots of effort but he’s just not built for it. Overall as a player, I’m taking Jrue. He’s taller, stronger, he can shoot (43% from 3 this year), he makes plays for others, and he will lock your best player up while doing all that on offense. And he will post your small guards up, can get to the rack, and has more offensive game than he shows because he doesn’t need to score all the time when he has the two teams he’s had these last few years. Plus he’s guarding the other teams best player so he’s conservative, just plays his roll as asked and makes BIG plays on both sides of the ball. Ky struggling on offense, and his defense doesn’t make up for it. That’s all you need to know. If I already have a superstar, give me Jrue. If I don’t, I’ll take Kyrie. He’s box office & he will definitely win us games with the right pieces. Can’t go wrong with either. But I like guys that take pride in defense.

A few facts to chew on since these “analysts” don’t want to bother with them. 1. Boston has beaten Kyrie’s squads in 13 straight matchups. Kyrie’s stats are largely similar to the first two games of these Finals in that 13 game span. Yes, Boston’s D is that good. 2. Dallas has lost 7 straight games to Boston including 4 games this season. Every Mavs fan points out how much they changed after the trade deadline. Well, Boston is 3-0 against the current Mavs team since they turned their season around. The average margarine of victory is 12 points per game. This is not an outlier, it’s the most common and likely outcome. 3. Everyone keeps talking about how Dallas needs to shoot better, but for anyone whose checked their stat sheets, Boston is 2-0 and has yet to shot to their regular season shooting percentage from the field as well as from the 3 point line. Boston has yet to put a full game together, so if Dallas can’t keep up now, why would you expect it to improve? Even if Kyrie outperformed his 13 game averages, Boston is up 2 games and hasn’t even had a “normal or regular” showing yet. 1 quarter in game one is all they’ve really done so far. 4. There’s been a lot of talk about Kyrie, but has anyone seen Tatum? At sone point Tatum lays a 40 point game in Dallas. Coming in he had hit 32 on average against this theme.

Jrule is not better overall than Luka. And before you come up with the "Luka don t defend", watch the games again. Luka defense is decent in this playoff. Especially in this final. He is smart enough to put his body i front of his opponent, especially vs Tatum i those two games. He had couple of steals vs Tatum, JB, KP. Overall Luka is the better player. Just watch his stats. If Mavs hit their 3 and Kyrie can give 20 points per game, we would have seen different serie. Mavs can still win this serie but Kyrie has to show up. And i agree Jrule has been better overall than Kyrie so far in this final.
