Besides the horrific murders this woman committed, she also underestimated her patients just because they were elderly. Miss Linda is SHARP. I hate when people dehumanize the elderly as if they don't have a brain. Linda was able to observe and recall Kim's every single little movement. She's old enough to be her mama, she recognized psychologically that she was acting shady, like a child trying not to get caught. I loved watching and listening to her with her sweet little voice 😍🙌🏼 Her and Lorraine both saved many more people from being harmed by just being aware, and putting Kim under the microscope.

@@melanienewberry2805 I'm 30, I don't feel too young in some ways lol. I was more describing the way Kim viewed her patients - not myself. That's why I said I dislike when people have that attitude. Secondly I work with the elderly as well - my oldest client was 106 😯 - and I'd be very surprised if that woman was in her 50s. I don't remember hearing that but even so, I do believe Kim was upper 30s at the time and I still believe she thought of her patients as too old and disabled to be alert and observative. She was looking out for other coworkers but didn't even think about the "older" patients sitting right near her. It reflects a belief.

Hemodialysis can be pretty draining for patients. Often they sleep through their treatments. She was aware & vigilant enough to not only be an advocate for herself but others as well. Yeah, she was incredible. Inspiring, really. I think most of us can relate to what she was feeling… you witness something *wrong* happening and your first instinct is disbelief. “Is this really happening?” You don’t want to say anything because you’re afraid you didn’t actually see what you saw and you don’t want confrontation. It takes courage to speak up. She was especially courageous given the life and death situation and because of the vulnerable state she was in.

Miss Linda and Miss Loraline are the real detectives and heroes! That’s wild this woman was able to still hurt and kill patients while being supervised by someone whose ENTIRE PURPOSE of being there was to identify the source of the problem to prevent future attacks. Knowing you have a potential serial killer at your facility and continuing to open your doors to unknowing and vulnerable patients is pretty greedy. To have someone supervise to see if they can catch an employee accidentally or purposely murdering your patients instead of notifying authorities and letting a real detective lead an investigation is disgusting.

This and the Allitt case are both horrendous but both hospitals acted quickly, both knew something was wrong and were investigating thoroughly to find out what was going wrong. Babies in the Allitt case were moved to different hospitals and survived. I'm not trying to minimize the horrible actions these women took but the attention of the other patients, the immediate actions being taken, listening to what people said, instant investigations, being aware something is wrong - these things saved some lives. These are great steps. Also never underestimate people who have to go through medical procedures for years - they know when shit is wrong! Linda Hall explained more clearly a part of the procedure than Kimberly ever did! What I don't understand is a person cycling through several medical facilities without concern. There needs to be a better system of reporting when people are fired (especially fired) from medical facilities. Needs to be documented and referred to and questioned. If it's downsizing, someone quit, someone just wasn't up to the stress, wanted a new job, ok, but still have those conversations with the prospective employee and previous employers.

I remember this case very well. I've worked in dialysis for 21 years, I've had to do CPR 5 times. Davita changed many of their policies after this, including bleaching the machines every Thursday. Water testing is done every 4 hours to check for chloramines. Kimberly reminds me of one of those people who aren't smart enough to continue their education to a RN, but arrogant enough to discount anyone that hasn't achieved her level of education. I am "just a tech" and I've trained every nurse that's been hired. Kim's vocational license only gives her the ability to push a certain medication and draw up limited medications. I KNOW our patients watch/listen to everything going on.... and I applaud the patients brave enough to come forward and say something. Dialysis is a specialized area where you get to know each other very, very well. Trust is mandatory (and certainly scary). I'm just really proud of the patients who came forward with what they saw, and brought a murderer down. She was never railroaded.

If she had ended up receiving a death sentence, there would have been a moment of truly ironic justice as she sat in the death chamber watching someone other than herself having the authority to administer the drugs for her lethal injection. This was a story I'd not heard before, and hit particularly close to home as my mother is a dialysis patient. This monster absolutely underestimated her patients' knowledge and familiarity with their own treatment process - comparing the patient's clear & concise interview with police to her own rambling & bizarre answers during interrogation speaks volumes. (side note - many thanks for the extra effort in adding your own CC!)

This is a feature of every single case I've heard of a rogue nurse/doctor, and I can't help but think that a national registry would at least help. I’ve noticed the same problem with police officers, they can be fired for the worst thing then go to another city (even right next to where they are) and get hired. Same with hospital workers, which in both cases is VERY scary. Charles Cullen (the nurse who killed lots of people) would just go from place to place after being found out, but no one took the time to look into why he was let go?!? These are two very important jobs dealing with protecting and taking care of people, they should be looked at even closer than most in order to protect the lives of others. Smh

I always tried to be polite but if I asked for a bit a of fresh air or the light to be turned down a bit, they thought I was being demanding. I often suffer from photophobia and there's no need to have every single light blazing. They did not care. There was no trying to make my life even slightly more comfortable and how dare I ask. I never demanded; I'm not silly. So, thanks for validating my concerns. I have a transplant but it's not doing too well and last month I was in hospital twice for a kidney infection. Mind you it was up to me to suggest that after 3 weeks on the same antibiotic that I'm probably not on the right one. Oh yes, said someone from the renal team, you haven't been. So, when were they going to tell me and when were they going to get a new script to me as I was ringing them from home and too sick to go out and fill it? Healthcare professionals have no business caring for the sick if they don' give a shit about their patients. Damn criminals are treated with more respect than we ill people are. Best of luck for your future. I'm not sure if I could go back on dialysis again. I have an exit strategy in place should that day arise.

It uses the Paratineum gland to filter blood instead of a machine. I encourage anyone needing Dialysis to look into it. It is so much safer & more gentle on the body. However the profession attracts quite malicious bullies who love that they have control over their patients lives, that they can act with impunity and their incapacitated patients can’t defend themselves against the abuse the nurse gets off on committing. She reminds me of that male nurse. He did the something similar, and all the hospitals did the same thing. These medical facilities should notify other employers about these nurses so people don't have to keep on dying. But they don't just save face and that they don't look bad. But all it does when they get caught. They should be held accountable as well.

@Susan Fieldhouse I guess no one has lived in Nevada. Yeah they're lovely. In between trying to get a doctor and a cop, they not interested in any patient. The doctors are WORSE. I remember ONE nurse at Spring Valley Hospital. She was so sweet. Sat with me and begged me to stay in longer. What a shame they aren't all like that. I nearly died in Nevada.

I’m a retired RN, and I know hospitals do not routinely inform other healthcare facilities when an employee like this is dismissed. I worked my way up from Nursing assistant, to ER RN, and my last 12 years as Nursing Supervisor. I worked on every unit eventually. We didn’t have a murderer, thank God, but we did have several nurses who were giving their patients saline injections and using narcotics themselves. Not one left without a decent recommendation. The hospital doesn’t want the bad press so that nurse went to another job. Also, we didn’t put Lisenced or Technical nurses work in any specialty departments. They could give meds on a regular unit. Sadly, things don’t seem to have changed much.

I can only imagine for your listeners it is helping someone else too. Your videos, although about monsters, are absolutely life saving and I only hope that listeners that are suicidal or in domestic situations call that hotline. Each episode may save a life and that is amazing! Thank you.

Well said! There are many true crime content creators out there, and some of them are quite good, but the fact that Jiles includes the hotline numbers at the end of EVERY video sets him apart in my estimation. And similarly to what you said, I have no doubt that the inclusion of the hotline numbers has helped someone, somewhere, that needed it.

Sadly during the medical staff shortage we had/have. If any licensed medical personnel applied….they were hired. As long as their license was valid they were hired. Her previous employer should have reported her to the licensing board. But in my experience, if they leave quietly they don’t get reported. The hospital doesn’t want to open themselves up for a malpractice lawsuit if reported. If people really knew what goes on in hospitals….no one would ever go into the hospital.

I am lucky in that I have had pretty much the same few doctors the whole time. I think a big problem is the industry itself and the people in it are professionals and a very different kind of professional. It's almost like the police attitude of not wanting to rat out somebody in your profession because it makes everyone in your professional look bad it's not like they're trashmen their doctors so if somebody sees a nurse doing something bad they start thinking all nurses are bad I think that has something to do with the fact that a lot of doctors and nurses can get away with this stuff even though they have bad reputations and shity work ethic.
