    People forget how tough Francis is. Granite chin. We have never seen him getting seriously hurt by punches or kicks. He took everything Stipe had, everything Gane had and kept moving forward. Jon Jones is used to fight guys smaller than him. He doesn't fight well without reach and height advantage. Rayes beat him (arguably). How is Jones going to fight someone the same size as him but way more powerfully build? What if Francis learns to use kicks and elbows? How is Jones going to react if somebody is giving him his own medicine? I think Stipe, Volkov and Blades are also capable of beating Jon.

It’s no longer about how hard you can hit or how fast you are. It’s about being a total and complete fighter and wresting is a bit factor in this modern day UFC. That’s why I think Conor will never come back to his prime because unfortunately the UFC passed him and he can’t be a complete fighter without grappling and wresting at an elite level.

I still think skill for skill, he's the best heavyweight there ever was. People remember Cain based on his last couple of performances after he was out with like a dozen injuries and basically had no knees or lower back anymore. In his prime, he was the perfect blend of power, stamina/cardio, wrestling, and versatility. He would throw punches in bunches and never tire out. He was also known for having freakish strength and took down everybody he ever fought (minus Francis, which I don't even count). Most people just never saw Cain in his prime. People seem to forget that while Jones had a great run, other fighters were catching up to him. He barely won against Santos, and arguably lost against Reyes. Already in 2019, he was far from being leaps and bounds ahead of the other top fighters. Also he spent all his career at 205, so I'd be very surprised if he was as well adjusted (speed wise and cardio wise) now that he put on a lot of bulk. He's likely drifting further and further away from prime Jones. Match that against a Ngannou that's still reaching for his prime and wins against the second best figther in the division with torn knees, I don't see how anyone sees Jones winning that... besides winning by eyepokes probably.

  • @asto5767

    @asto5767

    That's why he stopped trying. 205 got too easy so he started making it harder for himself. Jon (a wrestler) did ZERO wrestling against Santos and he still won by decision. Ngannou vs Stipe 1 felt kind of rushed. I wanted Ngannou to win but I wasnt angry at the result. Stipe could have probably hurt him way worse, but instead put him through a rasslin clinic. I don;t think there's any better way to have it emphasized that you need to work on your ground game then to be on the spot with a smaller fighter tooling you like that. Awesome to see the improvement.

  • @worldview6218
    @worldview62182 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I think Jones had a calculation when deciding to move up to heavyweight, that it would be stipe miocic he’d ultimately be fighting, and not Francis and that after Francis put a stop to that, Jones has sort of put the whole thing on ice because this is something that really messes with the trajectory he was going for, and he is doing this solely with his legacy in mind. So Francis doing what he did to stipe was one thing, but he also showed an extreme composure in the gane fight, when injured and unable to effectively strike to make the right technical decisions within the grappling realm to win the rounds and retain his belt, and I think Jones ofc on social media is going to be all bravado and trying to downplay what’s happened here and say maybe he should just retire because this was a boring fight, but realistically I think Jones is super hesitant to stake his entire legacy against a guy like Francis and I think secretly he’s hoping contract negotiations fail with the ufc with Francis and that ultimately it’s stipe who he has to face as his heavyweight opponent. I mean jones had his clear chance to fight Francis, but he asked for an even for a guy of his caliber a ridiculous asking price knowing the ufc would never deliver to give him that out, but I think he wants absolutely no part of this fight so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Jones isn’t stupid. Him capturing the heavyweight title from a reigning champion all but assures in everyone’s minds he is the undisputed pfp greatest mma fighter of all time, and that I believe is his goal and Francis I believe with his size and attributes is a hugeeee mountain to climb for jones to try and achieve that goal and I think jones is a lot more confident in a fight with stipe then a fight with Francis

If you have been fighting I don't know, like since 5 years old, but you haven't evolved your game very much, but say another fighter started fighting 1 year ago, but is evolving leaps and bounds.
