EVOLUTION!!! What Really Happened (Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane)

Спорт

Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane ended up being a technical match where Ngannou showed superior grappling to get the victory. How did Ngannou secure the takedowns? Where did Gane mess up? What's next for Ngannou?

I think Cyril Gane couldn't get up due to the weight difference between the two. I bet nobody except 1 or 2 guys expected this. With this Francis Ngannou's contract is over, his expired contract extends to one More fight because he's the champ but that fight hasn't to be right next to the Cyril Gane fight. He can have a mega combat with Tyson Fury and a mega contract with UFC or whoever he wants Head up for Cyril Gane because he's still the future of the division, if he learns from this defeat he would be champion don't have any doubts. Maybe he can fight Stipe Miocic in Case Francis Ngannou leave the belt vacant or maybe Jon Jones or any other top 5 if trilogy with Francis Stipe is made it

I have grappled for almost half my life. I think the first take down Ngannou landed was skilled, beautiful, and well timed. Not just a bulldozing slam. It took timing and or quick reaction time to catch the leg, hand and body positioning, and leverage. Definitely not just a power move. Reminded me of Rampage Jackson.

Wrestled for quite a while and definitely agree. Having the kick like that takes you having to adjust to their own center of gravity and balance. He adjusted perfectly, changed his hip position well and really just impressed me. The level change transitions in the entire fight looked clean. I was genuinely impressed. I also can’t talk on all the bjj stuff, but his hips looked really good during that. Also the way he handled situations with waist whizzer and arm whizzer. Everything he showed was great. Size plates a role, but he showed great skill here.

Gane didn't think so; nor did his coacheas; nor did any of the commentators 8 feet away from the figthers; nor did any one else. But it's true Gane won the first two rounds, barely, from him slightly out jabbing Ngannou, due to the somewhat compromised knee of Ngannou. Oddly enough, if Ngannou was 100% healthy, he likely would have gone on to do mostly stand-up, giving the more mobile Gane a clearer path to victory.

Francis’ wrestling has definitely gotten better. since his lost to stipe, he’s been working on it a lot as well as his cardio. But I don’t think his wrestling was as bad as he displayed in the Stipe’s 1st fight. The main problem was he gassed out too quickly, wrong game plan, and simply wasn’t well prepared for that fight. Imma huge Ngannua fan and I hope he gets to box Tyson Fury. That's been his dream since he first saw boxing on a small busted TV in Camaroon and got caught 7 times trying to cross the border into France I believe and they would send em back each time. He never gave up. They would have to sleep in the woods for days, hunt their meals on their way back to try to cross the border again. Finally he made it across And was sleeping on the streets of France but he said he didn't care and that nothing was going to stop him. And we'll Viola. A movie of his life would be so badass.

It was amazing to see Ngannou evolve as he has, but I personally still believe they give way too many points for just laying on someone because Gane was attacking with subs and strikes almost the entire time and Ngannou just held him. But it is what it is (that slam was sick af though)

Going for the heel hook in the 5th Rd was a huge mistake. Especially to give up top position. BUT, the earlier ones he attempted I thought were pretty good , especially now finding out Francis had a torn MCL and small tear in his ACL. If Gane would have gotten that in the 3rd, everyone would be praising him for going for it. But yea, who would've thought Francis would not only win a decision, but out grapple Gane. And he didn't really land any significant punch on the feet. That's pretty amazing.

Loved every aspect of this fight! How did you view the 5th round? I felt in that round that Gane struck Ngannou and got the takedown. After getting the reversal not much happened, which made me question the round in terms of damage. However I can see the amount of top time giving Ngannou the round and I assume thats how it was judged.

Gane barely landed any damage cause his strikes were not committed. He got the takedown, but Francis swept him - which is considered the same thing. Francis maintained the most dominant position for longer, and landed some GNP himself at the end - basically equalling the damage in the round. When the damage from strikes is equal you move to effective grappling, which Francis clearly had more of in the 5th round. If Gane had actually landed some solid strikes he'd have an argument, but he barely committed to any significant strikes, and was content to try and point fight, and it cost him.

@@Neil-qg9cw while I agree he continued to point fight, I disagree about Francis landing any ground and pound in the 5th. Hit Ganes shoulder and arm a couple of times but barely threw. Theres no way that those strikes alone evened out what happened on the feet.

Gane will fight for the title again, and soon. The level of disappointment he showed tells me that he truly desires to be the best, and he was piecing up Ngannou for all the striking exchanges. If he can improve his grappling, that is just as scary of a heavyweight as Francis
