PATIENCE!!! What Really Happened (Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2)

Francis Ngannou vs Stipe Miocic 2 ended in devastation, but the work from Ngannou was perfect and technical. Why did Ngannou catch Stipe? Where was Miocic's mistake? How did Ngannou wrestle so well?

    Stipe realised he had a problem when Ngannou stuffed the takedown, not because he couldn't get him to the ground but because Ngannou managed to get him in turtle and land some vicious shots and rock him. If Francis would have just stood up and disconnected, Stipe would've just shot for the takedown again but the fact he took those shots on the first one made him think twice about shooting in again.

    Funny thing is Francis didn't get hurt. He was caught mid-air and landed with his legs almost crossed, giving a concussed Stipe the idea he was "rocked". The shortness, accuracy and speed of the killshot is proof Ngannou wasn't cognitively affected by the punch at all. Absolute juggernaut. Barely fazed by the shot that knocked out a dozen heavyweights while rushing in with his chin up. Man is a fucking cheat code it's not even fair.

    Problem is, Lewis is a heavy counter puncher too. He's not going to step in for body shots to initiate exchanges like he did with Stipe - it's not as clear he can survive a Lewis uppercut. However, Ngannou might be crazy/confident enough to start wrestling/tds. Jones is smart and will likely look to outscore him. His legs are still long, oblique and calf kicks are his best weapons to deal with "Patient Francis". Jones' reach is also on par with Ngannou, who actually has long-ass arms compared to Stipe. I expect some smart jabbing from Jones.

    @Smarty Pants Gane "deserves" Lewis because Lewis is higher ranked. In your opinion, wich between Lewis and Gane should fight Ngannou first? Which is the most prepared ? Lewis has little chance against this kind of Ngannou but he has won a lot of matches and is higher ranked, anyway doesn't convince. Gane is more skilled, complete, i think he has more chance against Ngannou but he's ranked 4 and he needs more experience. It would be correct if Gane surpasses Lewis to fight Ngannou first? No! That's why i see a sense in the match Lewis vs Gane. While Ngannou fight JJ, Gane fight Lewis

  • @Narkhox

    @Narkhox

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Smarty Pants If 80% and more of title fights are between the champions and one of the first 3-4 ranked, problably RANKING means a lot. We've both said that Gane is a better fighter than Lewis but noone speaks about Gane vs Ngannou.. why? because Lewis has won more fights and so is Higher Ranked! Both deserve a title match? Partly yes, because HW division has now few seriously contenders, partly not because both haven't totally convinced. Lewis has to convince against a fighter with High IQ and striking like Gane. Gane has to convince against a more experienced, power fighter than Rozenstruik, like Lewis. If Lewis gets outclassed from Gane like Rozen, we're not stuck. It means that is a limited striker and doesn't deserve the title match.

He looked drastically better in this fight than he ever has (I have never been particularly thrilled with his technique until Stipe 2). Stipe in the first fight gave up 17 lbs which is still a lot and beat him. Part of what makes a fighter is ther gameplan. Stipe chose not to gain weight and whether that made it harder for him to wrestle or not, I dont believe it did. I think Francis having better TDD made it harder for him to wrestle. This is not the first time Ngannou has surprised me with his shot selection. He really has an intuitive gift for picking and timing his punches. Of course he has Mjolnir in his right hand and Stormbreaker in his left, but it's more impressive how he catches people completely dead to rights with them. Like Overeem for example, he caught him completely out of position and knocked his head off. A regular heavyweight would have KOd Overeem in that situation, much less this juggernaut. And here with Stipe, the straight left piston was beautiful to start the sequence off, but the decision to go short lead check hook to put Stipe down... It's just good shot selection. The man really found his calling in life.

Thanks for the great analysis and insights into my favourite sport dude. I have learned so much just from your words. I started MMA training, got a rib injury, just about ready to pick it up again and then Covid hits. So having your EXPERT analysis has been amazing for me so I can learn the mental side of the fight game and as this pandemic winds down, hopefully, and I get back into that gym, I'm gonna make some rapid progress, most of which is due to listening to you Weasel. Probably gonna get smashed physically lol, but my fight IQ has exponentially grown this year listening to your breakdowns. Last thing I want to say - You could easily match DC, Rogan, Cruz, Dan Hardy and all the rest on the mic during fights, doing Inside the Octagon segments, analysis work, everything really. You would genuinely be able to go punch for punch, word for word, with them with your quality analysis! You have a superb mind for this sport dude! You see things that others can't even fathom, you break these chaotic wars down blow for blow and talk us through the actual mechanics, decision making, tactics reasons and their mentality behind EVERY hit. I miss these things live, then come here and your like "watch how he invites in the overhand from his opponent, reads it, slips left and sets himself up for the counter left hook". I'm just sat there thinking "Shit! I thought he just caught him and got lucky". Like your McGregor vs Alvarez breakdown was incredible, how you talked about Conor managing the distance so well, slipping EA's punches, dodging them by millimetres in order to get himself close to lay that 5 piece combo on him in return. Dude, I really hope you read this and can feel my appreciation and enthusiasm for your channel coming through in my comment! Much love and gratitude my friend 🙏 Stay safe, stay healthy, stay YOU, and please know that your work, your effort and your amazing mind for combat sports is SO F-ING APPRECIATED!
