YES I do. I had the honor of being his massage therapist for a week. I was 6 months pregnant at time. I used Calypso and Fly like an Eagle for the first underwater home birth in our town of South Lake Tahoe. John invited me to the his show, got me a chair and and asked me when it was over how I like the show. A memory I will never forget. Earth Day is tomorrow, and he sang for Mother Earth. God bless you John, may your music and love shine down on us all.

Yep. For all his songs but especially this one. I’m always wandering around the mountains in Colorado and usually can’t help but belt out a few verses of Rocky Mountain High when I get to a summit. I’m off key but luckily it’s only mountain goats, marmots, and ptarmigans that are listening, and they don’t seem to mind.

I knew John back in the Seventies as I was a consultant brought in to help with a project he was doing. One night a small group of us sat around a campfire in the Rockies as he sang this song. Beyond magical! I will never forget that evening or John. He was a national treasure.

Here in Colorado, John Denver will always represent this rugged, wild state. ❤️

My husband and I began our marriage in the Colorado mountains west of Boulder. Years later after we moved from the state, John Denver's music could always take us back to those early happy years. Next week I have planned a very special Celebration of Life for my husband of 60 years who just passed. Rocky Mountain High will be sung at his Celebration. Has there ever been a more beautiful love song than Annie's Song?

Are you kidding me? That was the PERFECT live performance. True lightning in a bottle stuff. I hope John knows how much he's missed, even in September 2023. Oh and big shout out to the conga / bongo percussionist.... he was killing it.

First time I saw him live was 1984, not long after his divorce. That tour he was sort of going back to his roots. Just him, completely alone. Him, 3 guitars and a piano, and absolutely nothing else. 10,000 people sat mesmerized for 2-1/2 hours! He had an incredible gift of being able to connect, not just with the audience, but with every individual member of the audience. Every person there felt like the whole thing was for them. Very few entertainers have that gift.

@@scrappydude1 True, it was a gift. Saw him live twice; first time in Nashville, and then in Salt Lake City. Both times he was so down to earth and completely at home performing his music as if we were at his place. Think most of audience felt that way because no one wanted the show to end.

It was 1979, I went to live with my aunt and uncle in Cedaredge Colorado. I was from a broken home and drugged fuel life in San Bernardino Ca. I was 16 and found home in a place I had never been before. Finished my last 2 years of high school there. Went into the Navy in 1984 and never made it back to the place I always referred as the only home I ever knew.

I grew up with John Denver and never appreciated his music, he is one of the best artists of the 70's.

The world is a lesser place without John.

Hello everyone, I'm robbie, 38, I have heard of John denver since my teens & never got bored of listening too his music, one of the greatest legends of country music, he didn't need anything like today, lights Djs all that, on the stage with his guitar & band was all he needed, JD was the best, perfect voice, god bless him, we need more of his music today

He did everything so well: writing songs, singing songs, playing guitar, entertaining. He was the real deal unlike the trash we have today.

“He was born in the summer of his 27th year coming home to a place he’d never been before”. Incredible beginning lyrics to this amazing song. A very gifted artist lost too soon. This wonderful music will last forever.

When you actually see those mountains up close, you understand the love John had for Colorado ! Absolutely breathatking.

We have made the trip from Ohio 6 times in 5 years. Going back sept 2024 to see the mountains and hear the elk bugle. It truly is an amazing place!

I reckon there aren't many artists in this day and age that could stand in front of a crowd and sound that good.

No joke. Here in spring Texas just the other day in a local small park. We were treated with a rare sight. A beautiful bald eagle flew right over our heads. I am a much richer man now that I have witnessed such a sight. Miss you John.

This means he played this from not only his heart but also his soul. My parents (85 year old dad and my 82 year old mom is gone) but they loved JD and I have enjoyed an appreciation as a 50 year old as a result. His music was fantastic and we lost a legend too young.

This song still brings chills to me in .... 2023. RIP John.

I can't imagine how you could think I would be sarcastic, and that's sad about his friend, but I'm fairly certain John is talking about himself being reborn when he moved to the mountains at age 27 ("coming home to a place he'd never been before"), based on interviews I've seen that he did and just the whole context of that song. As I said very clearly, brilliant songwriter.

Was a ski bum out in Aspen, in 1975/76, working in Snowmass as a desk clerk. Our night auditor looked exactly like JD, and with my granny-glasses, cowboy hat and guitar, he was the spitting image. We'd set him up in the mid-courtyard area around one of the fire pits, and everyone would stop and ask for autographs. One afternoon, during one of our little stunts, the "real thing" showed-up, laughed at us, borrowed my guitar and gave a little impromptu concert for about 150 people, in near-freezing weather. Neat guy.

I wasn't into country as all. But, lately got bored of listening to the same music on the radio. Country songs from years ago had such a better sound. JD seems to my that he sings from his heart & has pride for his home state of Colorado. His guitar skills are 🔥. His voice is so unique and beautiful. This song makes me want to go camping in Colorado.

I never appreciated John Denver until now at 41. As a musician myself, this guy was not only blessed with a beautiful voice, his guitar work is excellent.

When I was 27 years old, I decided to live in a tent for 5 months in Colorado rockies near foot hills. This song really hits home.

I'm 64 years old, and when I was twenty years old me and a friend headed west and lived in the Rockies for a year, Aspen, in part, because of John Denver. Greatest thing I ever did. Thank you Mr. Denver for changing my life!

God given talent.

Not only was John a great writer and vocalist, but he was also an excellent guitarist. Grew up on this guy and it brings back many memories watching this.

Of course I grew up with John Denver, listening to his music as a teenager and still today at the age of 63. When my girls were young and we moved to my present home today, I was up on a ladder stenciling my living room walls. Quite industrious I was at the age of 40, straddling the very top of the ladder, walking the stencil across the top of the wall with John Denver blasting from my "boom box." A complaining daughter commented that I should listen to her music; she was tired of hearing John Denver. Momentarily, I stopped the music and explained to her that some day when she hears John Denver music she will think of me and all the important memories of her life growing up. She was 13 years old then. Soon when she'd turned 15, she reminded me of this comment; she'd listened and discovered how motivating and uplifting and paralyzingly captivating his message and music are. His connection with the goodness of life was and still is instantaneous.

Hey Natalie... I'm 62 born in 1958. I enjoyed your story. In my teen years growing up in the 70s, music was the best. John Fogarty with CCR, Dire Straights, Bee Gees, Bob Seger with The Silver Bullet Band, are just a few of my favorites. John Denver though...WOW... nobody pulled at my heartstrings or gave me "feel-good" uplifting moments like he did. To this day I still go to him when I want music 🎶 corresponding to my mood. I don't think anyone could put music together better than John to fit a person's mood. Definitely a kindred spirit. I hope life is treating you good. Live long and prosper! (Spock) 🎶✌️

Beautiful song.... Jhon Denver accompanied me for years in the mountains and meadows of Southern Chile, a cowboy life very far from the United States... Today several decades have passed and I live with nostalgia those years riding in summer and winter .... Now it's my children's and grandchildren's turn, they take care of my ranch... All I have left is memories...🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. God....take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.

People say that our music today is way better than that of the past. That is a complete lie. I'm a teenager today and nothing can top the beautiful simplicity of this man's music and that of the artists of the past. So simple, yet so talented, so effortless and ten times better than the synthesized junk I hear today on the radio.

The guy had a voice for singing, didn't he? His ashes were scattered over a specified area of the Rocky Mountains, how legendary. He's missed by many..

I'm a veteran with all the medals and ribbons, but I thank John Denver for his service as a truly great American! RIP, John, you are loved and missed!

My late dad said him and Karen Carpenter were the only 2 singers he ever saw whose voices were better than the records.

When he left us....what a terrible loss. It seemed that he gained respect from all in his latter years and his music will transcend into the many years ahead.

I grew up with John's music. Miss him everyday. Gone to young.

i´m 57 years old and i have the same feelings that ihad with 12 Years. its almost amazing

John came to the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City around 1971 for a performance at our coffee house in the Student Union. It was a small room with bean bag chairs. We heard of him and invited him to perform. $500. Such a special evening. I've listened to his music hundreds of times since.

One of the most tragic losses in music. Miss you John! 😔

I was 7 when John Denver inspired me to move to Colorado when I turned 24. Lived in the mountains of Gunnison, the foothills of Greeley and earned myMasters at COLORADO STATE! Go Rams

It became one of the greatest songs I ever heard the first time I heard it. It retains its place on that list.

Went to Colorado for the first time and was filled with wonder and peace.

I saw John Denver and concert at tinglewood 51 years ago was one of the great joys of my life it was just the 3 of us that. Day and the Berkshires I heard him then and I hear him now. He was truly 1ofthegreatestartiststhateverlived

When a musician sounds as good or better live than the original studio recording, that's an artist.

His voice was so pure and beautiful, like a crystal clear mountain stream flowing down and into our hearts. What a gift!

My son is in the Army and he is stationed in Fort Carson in Colorado. I will be visiting him and can’t wait to see Colorado.

What a voice and a musical talent I'm in Australia and slim dusty does not even compare to John Denver where ever you are John I hope you are at peace with sunshine on your shoulders

He played at my college for a voter registration concert.. it would have been 1969.

I am 27 and will be traveling to the Rocky Mountains in this summer ‘23. Can’t wait!

Cau :), he really made some good songs that got adapted, like Take me Home, this song and many others, he really went too early, I miss him
